Dirty room
La Quinta by Wyndham GallupThe bed was clean but I had to ask for air freshener because it was clear the carpets are not cleaned in the pet designated rooms. Even the air freshener didn’t help much. There was a dead roach on the bathroom floor as well. The breakfast options are terrible, cheap, and overcooked. Keep in mind this is in NM so the designated pet relief area is all rock and no grass which might be rough for some pups, especially when it’s 100 degrees out. The only perk was the lack of a pet fee. I booked elsewhere for my return trip through the area and paid a pet fee and what a difference in quality!
Great room
Fairfield Inn & Suites GallupI stayed in another hotel down the road that didn’t have a pet fee and it was gross. This one, while the pet fee is kind of steep, it was worth it for the one night I was there. The check-in experience was far more friendly and professional. Breakfast options were plentiful. I wish hotels would offer more fruit options aside from an apple or banana, but there were 3 types of eggs, meats, and the waffle station on one side and cereal and oats on the other. The room itself was clean and comfortable. No pet odor from previous patrons. The rooms are clearly cared for very well. The only thing that would have made it nicer was to have the pet area fenced in so pets can go off leash. Given the location, keep in mind it is rock or dirt and no grass which might be a problem for some doggos.
