Solid option
Comfort Inn St Louis - Westport Event CenterLocation is good, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown and great price. Easy check in/check out and the free breakfast was pretty standard/fine. Convenient first floor end of the hall room for easy in and out with the dogs. On the downside, the mattress was pretty hard and there were not very many parking spaces on the side of the building we were on.

Convenient stop
Sleep Inn & Suites HannibalWe had a very convenient room on the end by the stairs for easy in and out and the location is easy to reach from the highway but not too much noise. Good variety of breakfast options.

Hotel Indigo
Hotel Indigo Madison Downtown an IHG HotelConvenient location for walking to the Capitol. There are not many dog friendly restaurants around the Capitol but we were able to take them on the patio of the nearby Great Dane Brewing and cocktails later at Stateline Distillery which was awesome. Sugar Creek Distillery was super close but not open on Tuesdays. Black Locust coffee a block away in the morning had a nice patio too. Staff at the hotel were great and directed us to convenient free parking.
