Dangerous elevator

La Quinta by Wyndham Cedar City

This was a great hotel - it was clean and the staff were extremely nice and helpful. My dog was treated well and there were several other dogs staying at this hotel during our stay. There was one major concern: the elevator was extremely hot. It became uncomfortable within seconds of entering it. My husband, as a first responder, became concerned in the event there was a malfunction that it would be a dangerous and possibly deadly situation, especially for children, elderly and pets. Every time we entered the elevator, we were anxious until the elevator reached the lobby or our room floor. When brought up to staff it was explained that the elevator backs up to the laundry room of the hotel and the hot air vents into the elevator creating the overheated elevator. I would stay at this hotel again only if this elevator issue is remedied for peace of mind for my family's safety as well as my pets.

Gem of a Hotel

El Portal Sedona Hotel

I can't say enough about this hotel! We were impressed from the moment we drove up to the hotel with its beautiful hacienda ambiance throughout the property. Parking was easy and close by, staff were extremely friendly, kind and so helpful. The hotel consists of only twelve suites, so it isn't overcrowded, was so peaceful, and felt like they were opening their home to us. The courtyard was beautiful with a koi pond, beautiful greenery and an inviting outdoor fire pit with complimentary s'mores packets for hotel guests.

They also provided complimentary snacks, coffee, drinks, and pastries to their guests at all hours in their beautiful lobby, along with an expansive honor bar as well. Our room was perfect with a private outdoor patio so convenient for our dog and a fireplace to keep us all cozy. They welcomed our dog with a wonderful dog basket full of blankets, sheets, poopy bags, treats and info on dog sitters, if needed, and restaurants that will welcome our dog. Sedona overall was a very dog-friendly town and we had an amazing time during this visit. We will definitely be back to El Portal - with our dog or without him. Thank you BringFido for offering this gem of a hotel! Highly recommend!!

Very Disappointed

Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel

This hotel didn’t really acknowledge our dog - no welcome goodie bag like other hotels. Really no mention at all. This hotel is pretty outdated. Looks like its heyday was back in the 80’s. The bed was comfortable, but that’s about it. We tried to dine at the on-site restaurant but were given some pushback about dining with our dog. So ridiculous that they didn’t have accommodations for diners with their pets, although they allow pets to stay with guests in their rooms.

They finally made “an exception” and allowed us to dine in the very back of the restaurant. It didn’t matter much in the end because the food there was so terrible. We wound up eating at a nearby Wendy’s for the remainder of our stay. I wouldn’t recommend any pet parents to stay here with their fur babies. If staying in this area to visit the Grand Canyon, you are better off staying in Flagstaff 1 1/2 hours away with better accommodations and pet friendly dining options. The drive will be worth it overall.
