Not great for the price
Tru By Hilton OrangeburgThe hotel is new, very clean, but room with king is small and platform for bed juts out. 3x whacking my lower leg. Get the 2 Queens -- has to be more moving around space. Staff is pleasant but short on training. Prepaid reservation but took a while to find and navigate. Rooms are spartan, no coffee maker, cups etc. They have it downstairs but saving on convenience. All understandable in this market space but does not hold a candle to a highly rated La Quinta. $75 pet fee was accepted at booking but explaining it is a “weekly rate” is silly. Lots of places doing that but this is a higher rate hotel. How many guests with dogs stay the week? BTW, offered to leave the dog for the week, which brought a smile.
Needs work
Wingate by Wyndham Kings Bay Naval BaseWas Sleep Inn years ago, now a Wingate. They honored the reservation but hotel is in transition. Housekeeping and organization is suffering. Cleanliness suffered. Room floor could not have been vacuumed. Room very basic. No wall fixtures for toilet paper. Roll on top of toilet. Army barracks do better.
Good stop on trip
La Quinta by Wyndham ChambersburgIt was a very nice pet friendly stop on a trip from Florida to the Northeast. The room was comfortable and the staff was personable. Clean facility. The only nitpick was the breakfast offerings were heavily picked over by 8:15am or so, and the breakfast went to 9am. The hotel was not full and there were no doubt a lot of early risers, but they could have better replenished the offerings for the final shift of guests. Would certainly stay there again.
