Cheap place to stay

Extended Stay America Suites Sacramento White Rock Rd

No grassy area on the property. In a weird part of the parking lot that is just a traveled lane across from the property is a dirt patch with a dog waste bin and bags. If your dog is picky there really is no grass anywhere (mine is not, no big deal but others might be interested). Took a bit of walking around to find.

The parking lot is well lit and there are cameras. The staff was really nice. First place to ask me to pull down my mask when checking my ID. A bit unclear with the charges/deposit though which I called back about. They combine the pet fee with a deposit then credit you back $100 within 10 business days, mine though came within 3. Other guests were kind and courteous, friendly really!

The bad part was since it is all exterior hallways and it was raining, the stairs are actually quite slick and some had standing puddles. My dog slipped on a step and was a bit shy to go up and down after then. There is a single small elevator near the main office though which we used after this. Also some dog had a long running accident that an owner did not pick up so had that to clean up once we realized we stepped in it once we got back to the room.

If your dog does not do well with slick/non-carpeted floors be aware the rooms are all laminate flooring.
The rooms are large and you can put your crate between your bed and the bathroom wall to give some sound barriers as there are some strange sounds. A weird squeak was happening about every 15 minutes and being semi-close to the freeway you could at times hear sirens.

The room was clean, although a bit odd that they give you soap but not shampoo so be prepared on that front. Perhaps I could have gone down to the front desk but did not. They also are fine with you leaving your dog in the room and there was very little to the pet policy (i.e. nothing saying no dogs on the furniture. I bring a bed cover in case my dog gets adventurous and wants to hop up).

There is technically free wifi but it is really capped and pushes you towards paying for wifi if you want to be able to do much more than check your email. If you're staying a long time the price isn't bad but the short term rates are high and you might as well stay elsewhere to get a fuller wifi experience if you need that as the room rates would then be the same.

Not a bad place to stay overall especially given the price but if you can spend another $10 to $20 with the same pet fees 1 exit away is La Quinta Inn which I enjoyed more and if your dog prefers carpet the rooms are 90% carpeted outside the bathroom area. There also was no capped wifi there but it did flake up here and there (i.e. connected but after awhile some content wouldn't come through without a disconnect/reconnect). I was also at the end of the hall so who knows.

Nice clean hotel

La Quinta by Wyndham Rancho Cordova Sacramento

Great price ($110) for a king bed mini suite with a couch. No real restrictions given for pets when I checked in. The host was kind to me and my dog. There are no ground floor rooms I don't think. There are 2 elevators though. There is a stairwell but was unsure if it was emergency only. Given it's in the middle of a parking lot that borders other businesses it was well lit and there were grassy areas around the property that were clean although no outside area specific for dogs with a sign or poop trash can.

The exterior doors require a room key to get in after 11pm which is nice. Can't fault the hotel for the people above me for some reason running up and down their room and sounding like they were moving furniture until 2am. Rest of the room/floor was quiet. The rooms are long so you're far away from the door to the interior hall. Was worth the extra $20 (which could have been $10 for a smaller room) compared to the Extended Stay 1 exit away.

Clean, friendly quiet place

Acqua Hotel

Great staff that are all very nice. Good place to bring your dog. A fun clean paved path goes along the waterway.
