Second stay

Red Roof Inn Fayetteville I-95

I asked for & rec'd 1st floor room, and room itself was fine. These are not new, but renovated rooms, so you'll find some signs of aging, but I have no problem with that. They have at least 3 poop bag stations, but it appears there are a number of dog parents who can't be bothered to pick up after there pet. And it's a small property for potty walks, so you are bound to find it one way or another.

I don't blame the hotel for other people's ignorance, but it does fall to them to clean it up if no one else will. I'm giving it 3 bones because of the noise above my head most of the night. That, & the mini fridge ran loud. I did not report these issues. But I'd recommend this hotel due to convenient location, nice staff, clean room, & the light breakfast they put out for travelers. After 1st stay, I invested in a rubber back rug so my pup can get on/off the bed without sliding or hurting himself. The rug is now a staple in my trunk - I don't travel without it!

Under Renovation

Days Inn by Wyndham Statesville

Ok, I'd been on the road for 12 hrs by the time I stopped & booked the room. Had I read the reviews, I might not have. It's a pretty dark area. I drove around the bldgs looking for the office. Turns out it's the bldg next door, separate from the rooms. First thing you notice it the 1/2 boarded up front of the hotel. Like they'd had a fire or something. Turns out they are planning to move the office over there, so reno happening. Turns out they are renovating both hotel bldgs. Stayed in room 126. I admit I was worried, but the room ended up being decent. And clean, which was most important. It's an old facility, so it won't be perfect by any means, but for the money, not bad. Don't expect much for breakfast. There's coffee & juice & I was told granola bars, but I never saw them. They've got a ways to go, cleanup-wise & "Fido" needs a decent pet walking spot, & make the outside seem less spooky, but if the rest of the place ends up similar to the room I had, it could move up a notch in a future review.

Better to avoid

Travelodge by Wyndham Fayetteville

I'm giving a 2 because I feel that the woman at the front desk with the punk hair at least tried. I doubt there's enough space for me to list the issues. 1st assigned room smelled awful & apparently hadn't been cleaned at all. Something on the floor that in hindsight may have been cat litter. 2nd room smelled better, but had it's own issues. The bedding they called a mattress protector probably hadn't been changed in a while. Heavy stains. After 12 hrs on the road, I just wasn't up for another move. Demanded they change the bedding. Looking around, I'm not convinced this room has been cleaned either. It's an old, unkept hotel that appears to have more perm residents than us transients. I took pictures to send to Wyndham who should be embarrassed to claim this property. Too many issues to list here. Even at $59, it was overpriced. Sorry, I can't recommend staying there at all
