Cornsider Bringing Your Pup Here!

The World's Only Corn Palace

100% dog-friendly. There wasn’t any special events the day we visited, but the palatable popcorn and corny cardboard cutouts made the visit worth it! They also sold dog-friendly jerky, which my pup loved.

Best Dog-Friendly Beach I’ve Visited

Cannon Beach

My pup had a blast at Cannon Beach. She loves the water but waves tend to spook her. Fortunately, there was a calm pool of water separate from the ocean.

The day we visited, the beachgoers were very respectful of everybody’s space. I never once had a problem with poop on the sand, anybody’s dogs, or garbage.

If you’ve got a water-loving pup, you must visit Cannon Beach. It is a fantastic location.

Lots of Cool Things to Do

LaPine State Park

We had a blast camping out at La Pine. On a hot day, floating down the river in my tube was refreshing. However, the current can get pretty fast, and you need to watch out for fallen trees.

The dog park was sizable and well-kept. All of the trails we hiked were dog-friendly.

The bathrooms were surprisingly clean, thanks to the camp hosts.

Big Red — the largest ponderosa pine in the world — is a must-see! They weren’t kidding when they said Big Red was big. The trail to this colossal pine is short, which makes it an easy hike.

La Pine is also close to Lava Lands Visitor Center and Newberry Volcanic National Monument, two dog-friendly locations that I also recommend visiting.

Wonderful experience

The Galloping Goose

Our bus’ driver was very hospitable and allowed my dog to sit next to me.

My pup and I had fun taking in the views of Telluride as we drove through town.

I’d keep an eye on people getting on the bus, as I did spy a few shady characters.

Better Than Most

Dog Park at Pine Nursery Park

The large dog area is a big, open space with some shady spots and water fountains scattered about. However, the small dog area was teeny in comparison. On the day that I visited, the park was fairly quiet.

Pine Nursery has the potential of getting pretty muddy when it rains. On hot days, I’d worry about your dog burning their pads on the sand.

A Nice, Quiet Park

Sebastian Bark Park

The large dog park is expansive, but I can’t say the same for the small dog area. The park has a couple pavilions, water stations, and good fencing.

There’s a short trail outside the park circling a pond. However, it’s prime gator territory, so I wouldn’t bring your dog near it.

I’ve had another dog snap at mines, even though they were “friendly.” However, the interaction took place near the gate as I was exiting and they were entering, so I could claim that the dog was uncomfortable with being forced to interact with mines.

Not Exactly Dog-Friendly

Arches National Park

Dogs ARE welcome—inside your car.

If you plan on visiting Arches, I wouldn’t bring the pup along. The only dog-friendly trail is a lengthy, one-way dirt road that only four-wheelers can access. If a car happens to come down the road, you’ll have to try your luck with the rattlers in the bushes.

The park is amazing and the views are spectacular, but Arches isn’t the best place for hiking with your furry friend.

Wouldn’t Come Again

Durango Off-Leash Dog Park

If your dog doesn’t have a good recall, I don’t recommend this park. There is a gate at the entrance, but the rest of the park is completely unfenced.

The park is mostly dirt and gets very muddy when it rains. On top of that, nobody picks up after their dog, so you’re constantly watching where you step. However, the park is quite spacious, which allows your dog to escape the crowd when they need a break.

The river can become pretty strong, although I doubt it could sweep away a dog. Regardless, I’d keep an eye on smaller pups near the water.

There was one dog relentlessly harassing mine, so I left before the situation escalated. Although the owner was nearby, they were more interested in their phone than their dog.

It’s a nice park, but the flaws are too big to ignore.

A Tad Too Dicey for My Liking!

Riverbend Beach Dog Park

The park has little to no grass and is very muddy. The enclosure with water-access is small and dangerous with big, uneven rocks scattered about the water-line. There wasn’t much shade, either.

The people I met were nice, but I’ve heard that irresponsible dog owners are a common occurrence. I don’t recommend visiting this spot.

Breathtaking views

Badlands Hotel and Campground

The view of Badlands National Park from our campsite was jaw-dropping. There is a dog-friendly trail within the campground but beware of rattlers in the tall grass. Some bathroom stalls didn’t lock and there was a wasp problem in one of the showers. On top of that, the building wasn’t very clean and appeared run down. Customer service was great, though. Dakota, the store dog, was nervous but became very sweet once you whipped out a treat.

Great Service & Food

Tin Shed Garden Cafe

We visited Tin Shed early into the day as it gets pretty busy. My pup loved the Doggie Dessert from the dog-friendly menu. Our food tasted pretty good, too.

Parking can be hard to find, especially as it gets crowded. However, we managed to find a spot.

Make a reservation if you plan on dining at Tin Shed, as a spot isn’t always guaranteed.

Delicious food, spooky arcade, fantastic service

Millstone Pizza Company & Brewery

The food was great (first time trying Mac n’ Cheese pizza; it tasted pawsome!) and the service was top notch. Dogs are not allowed inside but the covered patio is. Millstone also has a haunted arcade (at least according to the employees).

Fantastic Location for Water-Loving Pups

Sellwood Riverfront Park

We made many two-legged and four-legged friends while visiting Sellwood Park. My pup had a ball splashing about in the water and running up-and-down the beach. There was also an absence of poop and garbage, thanks to a group of ladies and their Dane picking up trash.

The park wasn’t fenced in and there’s a busy road just outside of the park, so I’d keep your dog on-leash if they don’t have a good recall.

Educational and Entertaining

Cody Trolley Tours

Our tour guides did a wonderful job explaining the history of Cody.

We sat in the back with our dog since the trolly was cramped. I wouldn’t recommend bringing large dogs on the trolley.

My favorite part about the experience was looking at the artifacts passed around, including pictures of Buffalo Bill and a Bison horn.

Food, Health, Offices, and Confusion?

Crosstown Concourse

As it turns out, most of the food is outside and in the central atrium. Upstairs is offices and healthcare.

We didn’t spend too much time here since there wasn’t much to do and the neighborhood was shady. The lights outside are awesome at night, though. As BringFido stated, Crosstown Concourse is very dog-friendly, but there isn’t much to do here.

Leave your pup at home for this trip

Badlands National Park

Dogs aren’t allowed on any trails, which was a little disappointing. However, considering that there’s an abundance of dog owners who let their animals chase after wildlife and somehow “forget” to pick up their poo, I can understand why.

Despite the aforementioned inconvenience, I still had a good time. The trails I hiked alone did not fall short of my expectations; they were beautiful!

Cold and Creamy Treats!

Cold Stone Creamery

To my knowledge, dogs are not allowed inside. There isn’t a lot of seating space outside, either. Regardless, the place was cool (pun-intended) and I enjoyed sharing an ice cream with my pup.

A Great Experience

Ponderosa Campground

The employees were friendly and loved the pupper. Our site was a little small for a pop-up but we made it work. The campground is located just outside the hustle-and-bustle of Cody. It has a clean bathroom and laundry room. If you venture down the hill, you’ll find a quiet picnic area and small stream, which my dog enjoyed playing in. All-in-all, Ponderosa Campground is a fantastic place to stay with your pup.

A Steep, Short Hike to an Underwhelming View

Paulina Falls Day Use Area

Plenty of trees offer shade on a hot day, but the trail was narrow and steep. When we did get to the end, there wasn’t much of a viewing platform. However, the scenery surrounding you as you hiked down to the falls was stunning.

A Stunning Attraction

International Rose Test Garden

Saying that the International Rose Test Garden is beautiful is an understatement. The plants are clearly taken care of and the smells of each and every flower were delightful.

This is a perfect place for photographers and their doggos. Just make sure they stay on-leash and to pick up after your pup.

A Steep Trail with Breathtaking Views

Wahkeena Trail Loop

The Multnomah side starts out paved but it doesn’t necessarily make it wheel-chair friendly. It’s quite steep but the view is worth the trek! Since it was getting late, we were unable to hike the entire loop.

Herman the Sturgeon was Huge

Bonneville Fish Hatchery

We had a great time visiting Herman the Sturgeon. The only place my pup wasn’t allowed was inside the store. The Bonneville Fish Hatchery has great photo opportunities, especially later in the day, too.

Charming

Four Paws on the Beach

The employees were friendly and made my pup and I feel welcomed. Although a small store, they had a wide range of things for sale, particularly for adventurous pups and their owners. I bought a few shirts that were on sale and a new clicker.

Pawtastic Park

Together Treasure Valley Dog Island

Good dog park with lots of benches and shady areas. It can become crowded but it’s big enough to let nervous dogs escape the noise. However, if your dog loves water expect them to get wet!

People were friendly and I felt safe while visiting. The canal acts as a natural fencing (with actual fences in the areas that your dog could escape). They also have separate spaces for those wanting one-on-one time with their pups.

Small store, great staff!

Pet Haus

Store was a little compact, but still had many things for sale. Staff were very knowledge and helped me find the right size boots for my furry friend. The store dog was adorable, too!
