Beautiful hotel

This hotel is gorgeous; Moen fixtures, plush duvet, soft pillows, smart TV, even a yoga mat in the closet! The 16th floor and above offer a nice view of the Mississippi River and the super dome. It’s a short walk to bourbon street and the French quarter. You can stumble back from the casino. Right across the street is Mother’s which I was pleased to find out opened as early as 7 and served breakfast all day. It has a well lit laid parking lot across the street, and a covered parking garage at the end of the block where valet can park your car. I booked this room because everyone on this app ranked it 5/5.

The hotel I was going to book (which was literally right next door to this one) did not have as good reviews so when I read that others were greeted with water, dog bowls and biscuits I decided to pony up the (substantial) extra cash to book with this hotel. I will be the only person leaving 4 bones. It was a nice hotel, but I did not get any extra perks for booking with dogs. I didn’t even get a complimentary bottle of water that I was told every guest gets on check in. In fact when I mentioned I never got a water and requested one before our walk down to the river I was pointed in the direction of a bodega.

The staff was nice, the coffee shop gal and the gentlemen who valeted my vehicle were rock stars! It was also noisy, which was the main complaint of the other nearby hotels. I could hear the people above me. I could hear the people next to me. I could hear the road noise. I could hear the dog at the end of the hall barking. Long story short, it was a nice hotel, I had a good stay, but I left feeling like I overpaid for my hotel.

Book in Monroe or Vicksburg, but not here

Positives:
-ample grass areas for dogs to potty
-right off the highway
-right next door to gas station and hole in the wall restaurant/bar
-shower had refurbished looking walls
Cons:
-pet rooms are smoking rooms
-rooms are heavily seasoned with cigarette smoke and may (or may not) include yellowed walls, burn holes in the comforter, ashes in the creases of furniture
-towels and washcloths are tattered, stained and mine had hair wrapped up in the from the dryer
-the arm chair had a huge mystery fluid stain on the arm
-all those lovely grass areas appear to be a make shift mobile home park and several run down trailers and semis are parked there with what appears to be people living there full time
-the door looks like it was kicked in previously and someone attempted to fix it with nails

I needed a cheap place to sleep, and I had very low expectations when I booked here. I wanted somewhere to sleep for cheap. What I did not expect was a place to disgusting that I worried I was going to catch syphilis just from sleeping in the sheets. I opted not to shower there as I felt using the facilities would make me dirtier. I slept in all my clothes - including socks - and have wrapped those up in a bag tightly as I did not want my body to touch anything in that motel nor do I want my dirty motel clothes to touch anything else other than the inside of a washer. I forced myself to sleep, which was no easy feat, and as soon as I woke up I high tailed it out of there. I recommend anyone considering staying here to drive a few more miles up the road and stay in Monroe.

Staff was great

If you want a luxury motel for you and Fido to hang out in, this is not it. If you want a cheap, no frills motel right across the street from old town and close to all the theme parks Orlando has to offer, this will work. The staff was phenomenal. Always checking in to make sure I had towels, my trash was emptied, even making me a new card key because I lost mine. The manager at the desk felt like an old friend, always saying hi to me and I swear she remembered my name! The motel was older. It’s cheap, and my room had a faint cigarette smell as I believe it was probably a smoking room in a past life, like much of Florida in the 80’s. I stayed over the main office and never heard anything from downstairs. I had to come stay in the area for work, and I worked overnight. It was quiet enough for me to sleep during the day, and I never felt uncomfortable walking the dogs at night.
