Wonderful Piemontese Food & Wine

Corona Reale Trattoria Vineria

A menu full of both traditional Piemontese favorites as well as delicious innovations. The wine list is superb with a focus on the wines on Monferrato.

When making reservations, make sure to inform the staff that you are bringing your dog and they will find a comfortable spot for both.

Delicious Food

Ristorante Centrale

Wonderfully prepared food--the menu is not huge, the ingredients are fresh and very well prepared. Try the bolito misto if you are looking for something traditional from the area.

When making reservations, make sure to tell the staff you are coming with your dog.

Truly a Dog Friendly Hotel

Grand Hotel Terme

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Terme for a weekend break. It is located on the Sirmione peninsula of Lake Garda near the center of the old town. Great location as you can walk to dinner and cars cannot enter the area without a permit. This make dog walking much easier. We stayed in an executive room and it was lovely. King size bed, a balcony, and bathroom with a shower and a tub. The design in the bathroom was retro and everything was spotless.

We booked on BringFido and included our dog's name in the comments section of the booking. As a result, not only were we welcomed at the hotel, but so was Elvis. Waiting for Elvis in the room was a cushion, bowls, and dog treats! He LOVED the treats which are made fresh daily at the hotel.

One thing that is always a challenge for us is going to breakfast as many hotels do not allow dogs at breakfast -- even if they are allowed in the dining area As our guy is a rescue, he gets a little nervous in a new place if we leave him alone. Thus, it was WONDERFUL that the hotel allows dogs in the breakfast room. Elvis normally just hangs out under the table but he really enjoyed the fresh baked dog treat that the waitress brought him.

It is obvious that part of the training that the staff goes through is interaction with their 4 legged guests. All of the staff that we interacted with asked if they could approach Elvis and then when they did, they knew how to do it. Top notch training Grand Hotel.

We did not have a chance to experience the spa as there was no availability (Advice: Book your spa appointment when you book the room--don't wait until the last minute). I did go to the thermal pool after a long day walking around as a tourist and it was great! It was beautiful to stay in the pool as it got cooler and the sun went down. Needless to say, dogs are not allowed in there thermal pool or spa area.

There is plenty of parking for hotel guests at the property. As the hotel is in the controlled area, you need to indicate that when going through the parking control. Great hotel, great location, 5+ bones! We would definitely return!

Not worth it

Milan Marriott Hotel

This hotel is currently undergoing renovations. That was clear from the website and booking, however the location was convenient, so we decided to book. What a waste of money. As part of the renovation, the hotel between the garage and hotel is not working. The convenience of the parking located in the hotel is great as this is a very busy area and it is difficult to find street parking. We dropped off our baggage before parking so we wouldn't have to carry it up from the garage.

Although I am a Marriott Bonvoy Gold member that was not acknowledged during check in. With regard to our dog, the only focus was on potential damage to the room and the associated deposit and pet fee. The dog is a mutt, but the size of a corgi. The room itself had not yet been renovated and so charging 50 euro pet fee for a room that was clearly dated (late 90's), seemed excessive.

The worst part about the room was the temperature. Although other reviews had noted this, we assumed that since we were there in the middle of winter, the heat could not be a problem. It was! We literally slept with the windows open all night as we could not turn off the heat. When we asked the front desk, they said there was nothing they could do. Will never stay here again.

Conveniently Located

Hilton Milan

This is one of my favorite hotels in Milan because of the staff. They are warm and welcoming to both you and your pet. The hotel is about a block from Milan's main train station and it's an easy walk. The rooms have been refurbished a couple of years ago and overall the hotel is in good shape. There is a fitness room as well as executive lounge. I wish that the hotel would allow the dogs in the breakfast area, however as the breakfast is buffet, I can understand why they are not allowed.

Wonderful Country Hotel & Spa

Relais Sant'Uffizio

This hotel is located in Piemonte in the Monferrato region. We have stayed here several times in both the main building as well the annex The property is welcoming to smaller dogs, however not in the restaurant, spa, or pool area (obviously). Classic Room Type: These are located in the main building of the hotel and are the former bedrooms of the hotel's first inhabitants, the monks. Although spacious, the bed is on the upper level and the bathroom is on the lower level and there's a spiral staircase to go up and down, not good if you drink too much wine at dinner.

Prestige Room are in the main structure of the hotel. Some of these have an outdoor terrace and they are great. Spacious and comfy. Annex rooms are super modern and very comfy. Although you have to walk to the main property, these rooms are great as they have more modern heating and AC systems and better WiFi. There are 2 restaurants at the hotel--one with 2 Michelin stars and a bistrot, but dogs are not allowed in either. This makes things challenging if you are bringing your pet and you want to eat on site (thus the 2 bone rating, if only humans are coming the rating would be 4.5). This is a beautiful property with fabulous facilities in an undiscovered part of Italy, but it is not the place to come with your pet.

Limited Number of Rooms

Hotel Bishops Arms Strängnäs

Although we thought we had booked a room that allowed our dog to stay with us, we did not receive confirmation back from the hotel which meant that we did not have a pet friendly room and the dog could not stay with us. Luckily, we have family in the area and he was able to stay with them. This is not clearly stated on the web site so if you are booking here with your pet, make sure that they confirm they have space for the pet. The hotel is centrally located and easy to walk around town and down to the lake. The rooms are generally well maintained and clean. In the summer, it can be warm but fans are available from reception. Traditional Swedish breakfast is included.

Delicious Food & Warm Welcome to Dogs

Ristorante Risorgimento

We ate dinner at this restaurant.

It is included in the 2024 Michelin Guide and the quality and preparation of the food demonstrates that.

I started with the duck roll which was amazing. The flavors were great. My husband had the pasta filled with fish and topped with caviar. It was fantastic as well.

For the main course, I had the steak and my husband had the rabbit. Both were excellent--we both thought that the steak with the fois gras was one of the best we have ever tasted. Great quality of meat and perfectly cooked and presented at the table by the chef.

The chef personally serves and walks through the restaurant. You can tell me really cares about not only the food but the dining experience as well.

The staff offered and presented water for our dog as soon as we arrived.
