Always a great stay!
Best Friends Roadhouse and MercantileThe rooms are comfortable and 100% dog friendly. My favorite feature is the entryway with an inner door that allows you to enter the room without the fear of your pet trying to escape.
Good and bad
Hampton Inn Van HornThe room was great, very clean and a good size. Lots of grass for the dogs. Lots of guests not picking up poop though. I don’t know if a few trash cans and bags would help or not. We were on the bottom floor right next to the hallway leading to the exterior door. The hallway was parallel to the side of our room. There was a door leading into the hallway and a door at the end going outside. The exterior door spring caused the door to slam shut when people came and went so it was a noisy night. First a door slam at one end and then another door opening and closing, shortly after. So our dogs were kind of on guard all night. On the other hand, it was a convenient location to get the dogs in and out.
Good price
Days Inn by Wyndham Van Horn TXThe room showed some wear and tear, but was pretty clean. We stayed one night in late September and the room was full of mosquitoes. I’m sure the cleaning staff left the door open while cleaning like most places do. We ran to the dollar store for a fly swatter and after a short battle, we eradicated the enemy! The grounds were well lit, but the grass around the property was full of sticker burrs, so we kept the dogs on the pavement. There is a two story building and a single story building on the property. We were in the one story building, and it was pretty quiet. Some big trucks came in late, but it’s a hotel, so there will be noise. I would stay there again and would request a room in the one story building. We were able to park in front of our room and get the dogs in and out easily.
