Great dog friendly hotel

La Quinta by Wyndham Austin Airport

They do not have a free airport shuttle service even though we called the hotel and they said that they did before we booked a room. You have to call the front desk 40 minutes before you need a cab, or book a ride yourself with another service. The room was very clean and modern with excellent air conditioning. I would stay here again.

Don’t stay here, go elsewhere to have a stress free stay

Sheraton Oceanfront Hotel

Sadly, hotel has extremely poor room maintenance and gone downhill. We were assigned 4 different rooms until we found one less damaged and cleaner than the others. We struggled because our luggage cart had a flat tire. We put it back and noticed later that nobody had fixed it. Blood stains were on a chair ottoman and various other problems like dog chewed up cabinets, a cabinet door missing, cracked sinks, pet urine odors in other rooms. Our room has a broken toilet paper roll, a pulled out shower head, half the stripping on bathroom door gone and the door stopper chewed up. The shower curtain has holes in it as do the draperies. There is a stain on the inside shower curtain. The carpet is old and there are a few stains but the room does not smell. The room was very dusty, with ketchup on the counter and sunscreen leg prints on vinyl chair. Ketchup also on the seat and cabinet door. Worst of all is the balcony railing moves - we noticed one of the posts is not anchored.

My tiny dog came out from underneath the bed with a shard of glass in his mouth. There was also a walnut piece under there and my child is allergic to nuts. The room conditions and the poor air conditioning make the room uninhabitable all morning and afternoon even with the curtains pulled. The front desk is friendly but they never sent maintenance to check the coolant for AC. I had a non-refundable expensive reservation or I would have moved to a different hotel. I cleaned the room myself with sanitizing wipes and removed hairs from bath tub and sink, cleaned lots of dust/grime.. The min-refrigerator is broken /missing the freezer portion so we can’t freeze our blue ice for our cooler and it was 85 degrees in our room with the AC running and the deck door closed. There is so much wrong with our stay that we just decided to enjoy the beach and try to make the best of it. I have traveled a lot and have never had anything majorly wrong with a hotel room.

This room gets the Grand Champion Award for a high room price, filth, customer sweat, and being nonchalant about the room conditions, especially during COVID. Masks are worn in public areas but with food residues, debris of all kinds under the beds, and dust in our room on all the lamps, and the phones. I find it very hard to believe that it has been specially COVID cleaned which is advertised when I booked the room. I took photos of everything.. The railing is a major safety issue. I won’t be coming back here to stay unless the hotel is bought out and completely renovated.
