DO NOT STAY HERE!

Candlewood Suites Chesapeake an IHG Hotel

Would give zero bones if I could!!!! I reserved a first floor room at this hotel on line, weeks ahead of time, as I was traveling with my GSD. When I got to the hotel, I discovered the entire place was under construction. There was NEVER a notice about this when I reserved the room! I had no choice but to stay here, as it was the closest hotel to my dad, who has terminal cancer, and this hotel accepted large dogs. I could not even hear the desk clerk at check-in because of a blaring tile saw! Dust, loud talking and confusion were the order of the 3 days I was here. They said they could only give me a room on the second floor! When I said I had my dog and needed a first floor, they told me first floor was full!

Really it was because they were working on the floors up and down the hallway and you could not access the rooms. I had to dodge construction workers in the elevator, stairwells, hallways, etc. the entire time. Garbage, trash and room furniture lined the hallways. Each night the workers PILED their room trash at the end of the hallways (yes, they live here). Fire doors were being propped open routinely. One day we got a memo from the manager telling us to ignore the fire alarm if it went off that day!!!! They closed off the front entrance for a day and a half and told us we were to use the side entrances (which they kept propped open all hours of the day and night).

The last straw was when my dog and I had to use a side entrance and we went bounding up the steps and to my horror, I discovered that they had ripped up the carpet and there were exposed tack strips on each step! I had my sun glasses on and did not notice the tack strips until we reached the first landing. Luckily only went that far. I could tell my dog had felt them and was uncomfortable slowly coming down from the landing. I headed straight to the front desk and complained. I took my GSD to our room, checked his feet and headed straight down to complain to the manager.

Sparing you from the sordid details of the conversation/yell fest. - yes, she yelled at me, I lost it when she told me I should have gotten a room on the first floor because I had a dog! She said someone had taken a sign and tape down that said the stairwell I had used was closed!! Fire violation #207! She would not listen to a thing I said until I FINALLY yelled back at her and told her of the numerous safety and fire code violations at the hotel, let alone my hurt dog; she then asked me to leave the hotel (had two more nights here). I truly believe this woman is either incredibly dense, bipolar or both! She certainly needs to be fired.

There were also many, many migrant workers living at the hotel; my dog and I were outside the hotel and saw them leave for work each day. If I left for the day and came back at night, I had a very difficult time finding a parking place. One lady I spoke to on the elevator said she had been living here 45 days!
Their families are also living at the hotel. I contacted the cooperate office and filed a very detailed complaint - will see where that goes. I will NEVER stay here again, even if I have to sleep in my car! I would advise you to avoid this place at all costs. The management does not have the safety or comfort of their paying guests and canines at heart.

Great Place to Sit or Stay!!!

Sleep Inn & Suites Dover

What a great hotel! The staff is courteous and very conscientious. My GSD and I have stayed here frequently the last four years. I was here when it was pretty crowded (college graduation), but it was QUIET!!!!!! Got a good nights sleep; great location, too! The hotel seems to have the security and safety of their guests and canines in mind!

Great Hotel Close to Battlefield

Quality Inn Gettysburg Battlefield

I’m so appreciative that the management allows large dogs to stay with their family here! I have been here twice in the last four months and have enjoyed my stay immensely! You can easily walk to town and to the battlefield. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is super nice and so helpful. I will definitely stay here again!

IF You Want to Sleep DO NOT Stay Here

Comfort Suites Seaford

We stayed here Saturday, April 9, 2022. A very long story short: Awake from 12:30AM until 3:00AM due to out of control guests screaming, running down hallways/stairwells, slamming doors and smoking cigarettes and marijuana - all hell was breaking loose. After a phone call to the desk and a trip down to the desk, I saw that the Seaford Police had been called and finally kicked out the offending "people." We slept 3 hours that night, had a 7 hour car ride the next day, and the only thing the manager did was reimburse our pet fee. She's a piece of work - she said all hotels have these problems!! I had a 10 minute argument with her regarding the fact they do not enforce any of their written policies. Our GSD behaves much better than the "humans" they allow to check in rooms here. This place is not worth the hassle, price, or lack of sleep.

We enjoyed our stay in Winchester, Virginia. It is important to us that our well behaved GSD stay with us. Nice shopping center to walk around and exercise. Would stay here again!

Excellent Location

Holiday Inn Martinsburg an IHG Hotel

We really liked our stay here. The only negative was the air conditioner sounded like an old washing machine - very loud. The hotel has been recently renovated so rooms were beautiful and beds are new and very comfortable! A great place to bring your large dog. Just remember that the first floor is really not interlinked with the rest of the building (except the pool and patio). You have to take elevator to third floor for lobby and ice. You can drive your car to the back lot and access doors to your rooms. That being said, we found the first floor rooms nice and quiet . Had a loud family next door - could only hear them in the hallway - not in the room! Nice soundproofing! You are close to shopping and eating establishments- and the interstate. Will stay here again!
