Excellent Service
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Beckley WVI arrived at 4:15 and the man at the desk was able to assign me a first floor room near the lobby... which was perfect for unloading dog crates & walking my dogs. There was a good walking area and poop bags were provided. In addition to being dog-friendly, they had a lovely breakfast bar which included scrambled eggs & waffles served by real people, not make-your-own things. There were also biscuits & gravy available. The room was large & clean... a good stopover for my 2 dogs and me.
Spectacular!
Water Street Hotel & Marina Ascend Hotel CollectionI was expecting a room. Instead I got 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a complete kitchen & washer/dryer... with a corner screened porch that overlooked the river. I wish I had reserved 3-4 nights instead of one.
Surprisingly OK
Quality Inn GallipolisWhen I drove up to this hotel after dark and saw all the trucks, I almost turned around (it was past my cancellation time, too). There was a dumpster at the end of the parking lot full of old mattresses. Guys outside smoking. Inside was worse.... sort of an older Motel 6 style. The carpet wasn't worn, but it was dingy 1970's rust-colored stripes and wall of my room was a dismal purple-rust color...almost depressing. There is a dining room (also a separate lounge), but at 6:00 there was no one in it -- I didn't even see waitstaff. The bathroom was more than basic, but I was too tired to care. However, as I used the room I realized that, ugly as it was, it was quite clean. The mattress (probably just replaced, judging from the dumpster) was excellent and I had a good night's sleep. In the morning there was a free breakfast buffet in the dining room.... not the usual bagel & waffle "free breakfast bar"... but a sit-down breakfast with tablecloths, featuring real food and cut fruit, and a waitress who brought out individual pots of coffee. Quite nice. They had put me on the first floor with easy access to the dog area, so overall I would say this is a decent stop for pet owners, and the price is fine. All the guests I saw were men.... many were utility & semi workers... but they were quiet and the parking lot, which was almost full at night, was almost empty by 6:45am. I actually think I would stay here again...
