I travel with my Pug. She's a good Route 66 Road Tripper

I really loved my stay at the El Rancho! I loved the history. My room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel staff was incredibly kind and helpful. They loved my pug! Staying there was a real treat! The ONLY thing I think needs looking into is a place for pets to relieve themselves outside. The only place that I could find is a gravelly, broken glassy sidewalk behind the El Rancho.

It smelled. The hallway to my room was gaggy. The carpet smelled like body odor. I killed 3 crickets in the bathroom and one roach hiding in the towels. There was a sound like a rodent chewing on wood in the room. I tried to sleep but couldn't really. I left as soon as I could in the morning. Plus, this felt like a homeless shelter for men with pets. I literally asked if other women were staying there and the front desk said yes, upstairs. I'd asked for a downstairs room so that's why I was on the floor with all the men. Did not feel safe AT ALL there, even though the workers were very nice men. Sorry.

This Motel 6 is really really nice. I asked the front desk if this was a new Motel 6, and they said No, they just work to keep it nice. They did have grass for my pug, but it was raining rather significantly while we were there so we didn't go out much. I feel comfortable recommending this Motel 6. No, it's not a resort nor is it glamorous. It's just clean, comfortable, with a nice friendly staff, at a really good price.

I was really surprised at how nice the Inn was. I had stayed there previously, and I could tell that a lot of maintenance work has been done to keep this Inn nice! They have a nice pool, as well as a pet area with poop bags. Our room was huge, and very clean. We had a great stay.

Holy Cow! I didn't know what to expect so I was totally gobsmacked when I walked into our room! It was adorably decorated, true to the Ranch theme, and totally clean and comfortable. I LOVED that they had an enclosed pet area where your pet can explore and be off leash. You can't leave them alone in the pet area, but tables and benches are in the area so you can watch your pet, or read a book. Just clean up after your pet. A great addition for traveling pets.
The restaurant is right across the parking lot. I heard you can take your pet into the restaurant area, but I didn't trust the source. We did, however, order a meal which we picked up and took out back where there are 75-100 picnic tables where you could enjoy your meal with your pet! The gift shop is also really nice. I really really loved this! It was a real treat for me.

Their sign out front says "Newly Remodel" so it is nicer than your average Motel 6. It is clean, and the staff is nice. The Motel is huge so getting your luggage to your room from the parking lot could be a problem. You could also get lost inside. Overall, we didn't have a problem. We heard other dogs barking so we knew they were there. The good thing is that the Motel 6 did NOT have any pet odors, nor did we see any pet damage. We stayed three nights, and were pretty comfortable there.

This is a really nice place. It was easy to find, close to the Interstate. The rooms are clean and comfortable. There are elevators if you find yourself not on the first floor. There is a sizable pet area with poop bags provided. Free breakfast is also provided with a nice dining area. All the little dogs seemed to be having a nice time too!

This Motel 6 is huge! The rooms are good sized and clean. The laundry room is up on the second floor, but right next to the elevator. No wait on using the machines. There isn't a real dedicated pet area, but there is grass in front of the parked cars where you can walk your dog. I was really surprised at how nice this Motel 6 was. The staff was nice and friendly.

This is a beautiful place! The lobby area is amazing! Regarding pets, they cannot come inside the lobby area during check-in, which is understandable except when it's pretty hot out and you have to leave your pet in the car. You can't leave pets unattended in your room so you can sightsee, but you can leave them in your room to pick up your free breakfast. The pet area was quite a walk away from our room, and I'm not sure I actually found it (ha). It's a beautiful property so we didn't mind the walk.

I think the Shamrock Country Inn's better days have passed. It's just run down looking. It was okay for one night, but I won't stay there again. The room was very colorful, as was the bathroom, so at one time it must have been one of the places to stay. The other thing I really liked is that you could park right in front of your door! so packing and unpacking the car was easy. There isn't really a pet area. I was told where to take her, but sadly, it was rocky, stickery, with no grass. I was concerned she could be walking on poison ivy or could possibly step on a snake. It was okay for one night.

Beautiful facility! Our room was good sized, and very clean and tidy. Breakfast was served and the dining area was really nice and I brought my pug out there with me. People greeted her and made her feel special. I will say that the breakfast was a cut above the others that I've had in other hotels. There wasn't a pet area that I could see as I arrived later in the evening and left early in the morning, but there are plenty of beautiful spaces for pets to explore surrounding the hotel. One last thing, they did seem to add on a lot of pet-type fees when I got there. I haven't seen the refund(s) yet, and we've been home for over a week.

Nice big room, ground floor as I requested. As a senior citizen, I was pleased with the tools they installed to aid seniors. Plus, for those not fortunate enough to get a ground level room, there is an elevator! Also, there is a nice shopping center across the street, with restaurants. Nice location. I gave it a 4 because there were some places others might complain of, little bit a stains, and a couple cracks in the wood door jams. Otherwise, it is a great overnight stay! Also, nice pool.

Nice clean room. Ground floor room as requested.

Staff was excellent, very kind and helpful. Room was okay, but the door didn't shut completely so I came back to a door that wasn't shut or locked! I know I shut the door when I left, but perhaps it didn't shut all the way. I had to force it shut, I later learned. Otherwise, it was okay for an overnight stay.

This is a wonderful facility! Our room was huge, clean, well decorated, with front and back patios to enjoy while relaxing. The entire facility was beautifully decorated, imo. The free breakfast is amazing, and pets can sit on the outdoor patio with their families, just not inside. Please leave a tip as the staff is very accommodating and kind. I have nothing negative to say about El Pueblo Lodge and I will be back and have already told my friends about this wonderful lodge. And my pug was treated well by all who met her!

Actually, this is an okay place. I think they're just opening up so not all of their services were available. We were in one of the guests rooms, which was good size, clean, and comfortable. Parking was right outside our room which was nice. However, like I said, the kitchen wasn't open, and the ice wasn't readily available. I think this may have been because they're not fully open. It is in a beautiful area so I'm hopeful it will be successful. The camping/RV area looked pretty full. No real place for pets to "go potty" though.

I loved this place! The style reminded me of Motor Inns on Route 66, which I happen to love. This is really kept up well, the cabins are adorable, and the rooms are clean and nicely decorated. I did have a little problem with how some of the things inside worked, like the heater, but other than that, I have no complaints. My dog was treated well and had a really nice back area of grass to sniff and relieve herself, instead of a rocky back lot with stickers. It was a nice grass area. This is also in a good location in Custer and easy to find. I will definitely stop here again if I am back in the area. I was really really pleased.

Nice clean room, good size, right off the interstate. I especially liked the mural of the St. Louis Arch over the bed. Nice area for pets. Nice staff. Great price.

Applause to the young man checking in 30 gentlemen in a Biker Club! Nice men, but a large number. I requested a ground floor but was put on the second floor. Fortunately, there was an elevator. The room was average, but we were treated well.

Loved it! We stayed in the back of the motel, with a huge grassy yard, fire pit, and beautiful view. This is a special place of rest and relaxation. Plus, we were gifted with being able to see the Northern Lights while sitting at the fire pit. My pug was treated well. The other guests were friendly and welcoming. Only negative for me was that the bathroom was pretty small. That's all. I would stay again in a heartbeat.

Cute neon lights out front. Room was really clean, and staff was very kind. The free breakfast is really nice, only asking for a tip. We used the grassy area for dogs' potty breaks at the McDonalds across the street. Otherwise, there is a small area by the inn's parking lot and play ground for pets. Also, just a short drive to Historic Route 66 to see the attractions there.

This is a great place. Nice large room with full kitchen area with all amenities. Amazingly nice. It is like staying in a really nice condo. Maid service isn't daily, but you can always get fresh towels, etc., at the check-in area. A huge pet area surrounds the Suites as the parking lot is surrounded by grassy fields. I loved it! The staff is really nice and friendly, and kind to both my pug and I. I would gladly stay there again!

This is a real find. Yes, it is budget, but it's a nice place. The room was beautifully decorated, in bright Route 66 style! Really nice and comfortable. The nicest thing is that we arrived when really bad weather was anticipated. After dodging rain all day, one of the first things my hostess told me is that in the event of a tornado, they alert everyone by phone and we all go down to the basement. She assured me right away that we would be safe. I really appreciated that. The other really enjoyable feature here is that it is across the street from a small lake where people walk pets and fish. So beautiful. This is a real find and if you are a Route 66 traveler, this is the place to stay. Nice continental breakfast provided, and they were good to both me and my pug. I would stay again.

This is my go-to first night out of California stop. It's a good Motel 6 but some rooms are showing signs of aging. My biggest gripe is the lack of a grassy area for pets. Pets get rocky and stickery lots to relieve themselves on. Also, it doesn't feel very safe either when taking them out at night. That could be improved.

Hotel is beautiful. Rooms are nice and clean. Staff is very friendly! I didn't have one negative encounter. My dog did very well there. Also, free breakfast offered every morning.

Nice big place. Hardly any people there. Nice grass area for pets. However, the gentleman who checked me in said that he didn't have my reservation! That was alarming as it was later at night when I arrived. He gave me a room, honored the price on my confirming email, and was very kind and gracious.

Room was clean and smelled clean. Grassy area for pets surrounding pool area. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again, if I’m ever back this way.

Great room, great location, great service! Everything was nice and clean. The pet area is large but is made of gravel/rocks, which is okay except if your dog has never gone potty on rocks! She adapted. If I’m ever in this area again, we will definitely stay here!

I used to stay here a lot years ago. I was was disappointed in my room. It was dirty, the bathroom was a former handicap shower but had no handles on the wall, nor bench to sit on, or anything/barrier on the floor to keep the shower water from spilling out into the bathroom sink area. Not safe. The furnace was non-existent. I'm sorry, I want it to be good for memories' sake, but I was disappointed. I paid a lot of money for a basically dirty room. It's not like I could say, well, you get what you paid for, because I paid A LOT. I expected more for what I was being charged.

We walked everywhere, even to the Mission. Plenty of parks along the way for my pug. Restaurants nearby as well. I love staying here. The staff is friendly, and the coupon for the free breakfast at Olsen's across the street is a bonus!

Nice place and good to pets. Friendly staff. I was pleased.

The Motel 6 was great! Clean room, very clean room. The only thing lacking was a pet area. We couldn't use the grass around the hotel, but had to cross a busy street to get to a lawn there. There were wild deer on the lawn once, so unfortunately didn't cross the street.

Room was clean, staff friendly. We had the best sleep during the trip there! The only weak area was pet area was almost non-existent. Otherwise, the place was perfect.
