Beautiful location on the beach. Old, small, and dated rooms
Surf InnArrived "after hours" even though it was only 8:15 PM. Eventually found the key to my room in an envelope under the lobby door mat. About 8:30 opened the door into "my" room to hear a man in the dark screaming bloody murder. Turns out they double-booked a room, and the first couple there went to bed early.
Had a hard time contacting the after-hours emergency number due to no cell coverage (this town is remote, and only Verizon works). Eventually borrowed a phone and got a hold of the on-site staff who were very apologetic and got me into a new room. Finally got to start unpacking 45 minutes after my arrival at 8:45PM.
My room was very small with dated, rustic decor. Bed wasn't very comfortable. Good water pressure in the shower.
The motel has amazing beach access and a pretty cool fire pit area with plenty of locations to walk your pups. These last features keep this from being a one or two bone motel.
Decent value for the price
La Quinta by Wyndham San Diego Mission BayRoom was fairly clean with evidence of managerial neglect. Scratched up door from a dog trying to escape, very large suspect biological fluid stain on the arm-chair cushion, ripped wallpaper. Staff was friendly and helpful. Laminate floors are practical but not nice to walk on in a beach area.
Good location for exploring San Diego by car...right next to I5. A few bars and restaurants within walking distance, cannabis dispensary and In-n-Out right next door. Downside of this is that there were heroin needle caps in the surrounding landscaping, and on the morning I left there was a transient going through bags of trash looking for cans in the parking garage about twenty yards from my car.
Awesome hotel for the money, very peaceful location
Carmel River InnWhat a wonderful hotel! Bathrooms were a little dated but very clean. Room was decorated in a rustic fashion. Carpeted floors in a pet-friendly room is a nice plus. Beautiful balcony in our second floor room with chairs that looked over a wooded stream.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Lots of shopping within walking distance if you need anything (pet store, hardware store, grocery, clothes shops).
Fantastic hotel with a very friendly staff
Phoenix Inn Suites AlbanyThis has to be one of the nicest hotels for the money I've ever stayed in. Pet rooms have carpet, very friendly desk, staff, and a great free breakfast. Not a lot of dining options nearby, but the Denny's across the street has a sports bar attached with a three way liquor license. Highly recommend this hotel.
Decent value for the price
Quality Inn & Suites LathropDecent value for the price. Some of the other guests were a bit sketchy. One room had the door propped open with about ten people inside and a dude performing a tattoo on a woman right on the desk by the door.
