Convenient stop just off 95

Best Western Fredericksburg

This is a typical older Best Western with old-school motel-style rooms, which is good when you are traveling with a dog. You do not need to take your dog though any parts of the inside of a hotel. They were very pet friendly upon check in. As a single woman and seasoned traveler with my dog, I felt safe there. While not a beautiful setting, there was a place to take your dog to relieve herself with a poop container.

The room was updated with a modern TV, but it still felt old. It had wood-style floor with no rug, which makes sense with pets, but it was dirty. I was not sure if it had been mopped. I brought in my own dog bed, but if you don’t have one, your pet will be sleeping on a cold, dirty floor. They do not want pets on the beds, which I agree with. The hotel offers a nice breakfast with real scrambled eggs, sausage, and fruit among others options.

Accommodating

Hampton Inn Emporia

The Hampton Inn in Emporia was very accommodating to having pets there, but I had the feeling that it was a new amenity for them. The rooms were quiet and comfortable. There was no place outside to walk your dog or poop container area for dogs to use. There were few rules to do with Pets so people were bringing their dogs into the dining area, which made some guests uneasy. The staff was very nice.
