I loved it!

The room was spacious, well organized, and had everything I needed. The parking lot was well lit, and the neighborhood was VERY quiet. My dog needed a middle of the night trip out, so the well lit part was especially comforting. The bed was comfortable, for the dogs too. I would come back here with or without dogs.

Our visit was... ruff

There were several little things that were irritating, but under normal circumstances I would have written off. The reservation started with them saying the elevator is broken, and we don't have any first floor rooms available. That's fine, they let me know before check in, and I can walk stairs.

They lost me, though, at the smoke detector issue. I could hear the beep of a low battery smoke detector. Fortunately, it was enough removed from us that my dogs didn't react, but that could have been bad. But I called the front desk to let them know... and she said "Oh, okay," in that way that said nothing was going to happen. I later took a walk around the building with my dogs, and heard for sure two, maybe three different rooms were beeping. OK, if three rooms have low batteries, how many more have exhausted the beep, and now just aren't functioning?

Other things with my room: The microwave was loud, sounding like major gears crashing against gears. The room heater was loud, and ran every 5 minutes or so. The toilet seat was missing one of the two bolts, so you had to be very careful when sitting so you didn't get dumped into the toilet. And the door to the bathroom looked like it had once been kicked in: the door handles weren't attached to anything (nothing to keep the door shut), and there were nails keeping the pieces of the door together around the handle.

The bed was concave - at first, I noticed that the climb out of bed was more than a usual climb. Then I took a look, and saw the visible sway of the bed once the pillows were removed. The pillows were VERY comfortable, though :-) And since the low battery beep was far enough away, my dogs had no complaint. The rooms are noticeably being remodeled, which is probably standard for the off season. Hopefully, once the remodeling is done, this place can climb out of the pit. But for now, it's a cheap location for a quick overnight nap, and that's about all I can say as a recommendation.

A Great Place to Stay!

Rooms were clean and felt updated. Doggie area was large and accessible. Breakfast had lots of options, including bacon and sausage. I was happy with everything.

Decent enough

The hotel is away from everything, so mostly quiet. Except for the kid racing around in the room upstairs at 6am (eyeroll). The room was clean, the green area is very large out back. I'm not a fan of the linoleum fake wood floors, but they work. The bed was very high, which makes me nervous that my larger not as agile dog will try to get off the bed in the night and crash to the floor. But she slept solidly through the night, so there were no issues.

Cheapest price in the area

I appreciated finding a hotel that was still cheap. The room was small for my husband and myself and our two dogs - very small. But we were there to sleep and then get back on the road. Works fine for that. If you want to stay for a few days, I would recommend finding a hotel with bigger rooms.

Great location for hiking!

I would give the Happy Hollow a great review just for where it is located - I walked out my door and on to one hiking trail across the street and another a hundred yards down the street. If you are going to Hot Springs to hike with your pup, this is the best access.

The room itself was fine. Cute, definitely a budget room, but with some nice touches.

Nice place

Our stay was brief, but it seemed like a nice place. It is tricky to find a grassy spot for the pup, but if you are willing to walk around the entire building/parking lot, you can find a small area.

Great location - really long room

We got a king/queen suite. Loved it - there is a room with the queen and a sofa, a "hallway" with the bathroom and sink, and then the other room with the king bed. No doors between the rooms, which means that my dog had room to run! She got to burn off some of the extra energy from being in the car by racing back and forth. We loved it.
