Literally, the worst stay of our lives.

What started out as a well below average hotel visit ended in a nightmare for our pet and us.
Sink wouldn't drain, Toilet kept running, general feeling of a hotel past it's prime.
The nightmare happened the next morning when our dog was unable to keep his balance while standing. So we rushed him off to the local Pet ER and were informed that he had THC (pot, cannabis, marijuana, whatever you want to call it) in his bloodstream and would need to be admitted and stay overnight for observation. This could only have come from something he found on the floor of the room and ate.
$400 later and one of the worst days of our lives, we have our dog back and will never stay in a La Quinta hotel again.
Plus another $150 for a hotel stay in a better property.
Pet owners beware, with cannabis being legalized in many states now this is going to become a much more frequent issue. Bring a flashlight and inspect every corner of your hotel room before letting your pet in. What looks like an innocent gummy bear or plant material on the floor could be a powerful toxin to your pet.
