This one is a no go
Quality InnUnfortunately this hotel did not live up to the three and a half stars given by TripAdvisor. Our supposedly non-smoking room smelled of old smoke and was musty. The room and furniture were dirty. Our dog did not want to be on the floor. The breakfast was limited at best. Like a lot of the Quality Inns we have stayed at lately, the building is very dated and has seen better days. I’d keep driving.
Nice and clean
My Place Hotel-Altoona/Des Moines IAThis hotel is set up for extended stays but works well for overnights too. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our dog was very happy there. Jethros BBQ was an added bonus which was a few minutes walk from the hotel.
Great stop
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Torrington an IHG HotelThe dog park was great, the breakfast (especially the coffee) was better than most, the room was clean and beds were comfortable. The price was reasonable and the location was perfect for anyone just traveling through.
Better inside than outside
Ramada by Wyndham ButteThis Quality Inn has definitely seen better days from the exterior of the building. However, my husband and I were pleasantly surprised with the size and cleanliness of the room, the comfort of bed, and the friendly staff. The bar was a nice added bonus to grab a drink at the end of the day and the breakfast included decent hot food and fresh fruit. I give this hotel three and a half bones because of the tiny bathroom and dated decor. I would definitely stay here again.
Not that great
Econo Lodge Belle FourcheWe stayed at this Econo Lodge based on the reviews on this site. However, the hotel did not live up to its billing. The biggest problem was the paper thin walls. When the guest in the room next to us arrived, I could have had a conversation through the wall with them. It was pretty clean but definitely bare bones with low shower water pressure and a small TV.
