A cool retro vibe!

Biker Barbie (there really is a biker Barbie doll on the wall near her, checked me in, she was very personable and easy on the eyes. The room was very old school, the key was an actual key with the old diamond shaped plastic room number attached. AC was great, as was the water pressure and the grounds were amazing. Ice machine best I've ever used, must be newish. Had social events beginning at 6, though I didn't attend. The place is on a roaring creek, which was a nice surprise. The view of the mountains across the street was the best, they seem so close.

Room was a bit dark, and the bed reminded me of basic training. In the morning when I checked out, I asked "If I could have change for a ten" for a tip for the cleaning lady, the gal at the desk, not beautiful biker Barbie, but like her angry, short haired middle-aged aunt, replied "Could I?" Which I thought was a bizarre thing to say. Might want to make shoes in a factory instead of work the desk with the public. I expect to stay again. It was my first time back in Maggie Valley since I went to Ghost Town in the Sky back in the early 1970s...great memories. I also came to see Wheels through Time, which was closed without notice. Will likely never go there out of silent protest.

Entirely unsatisfactory

Under renovation when I arrived. I was told that dogs were only allowed in the unrenovated rooms, which looked so bad from the outside, covered in construction material, I declined to stay. It's located outside an Army base, next to strip joints; a couple of gals were smoking outside their respective rooms. Gave it a third world vibe. The only positive was that I called BringFido and they were able to get all my money back.

Location was great

Walking distance to my favorite eateries and drinkeries (if that is a word). The room was clean, though it was carpeted and I prefer hard surfaces. Friendly front desk. I never stayed before because they don't have a nice sign, but it will be my go-to place.

WiFi never works

Just a few miles from Colonial Williamsburg, great location, but the WIFI and cell service hasn't worked for years. You'd think they'd try Weboot or something. The breakfast is a bright spot, eggs or omelets and sausage or bacon, always hot and clean serving and dining area. The TV channels are awkward, maybe streaming, not sure. Usually only there for major holidays, and often busy and short staffed.
