What we needed on the road

Drury Inn & Suites Southwest St Louis

we stayed here with our dog one night on a road trip cross-country. The staff was welcoming, and we were able to walk our dog to some grassy areas at night & in the morning around the hotel parking lot. We got take-out at the bbq spot next door, which was a welcome change from food on the road. The bed was comfy, and it was nice to grab breakfast before checking out. I agree with another reviewer who said that you can hear traffic on the interstate in the room. It didn't bother us much, but if you are sensitive to sound while sleeping, it may be something to consider as this location is right next to the highway.

Fine for 1 night stay

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Tucumcari

This location was totally fine for what we needed it for - 1 night on the road with our dog. The pet floor is the 2nd floor, and there were a bunch of other folks with dogs. The back staircase leads right downstairs to the pet area. The room is no frills, but fine for one night. There weren't a whole lot of areas where I felt comfortable to walk the dog around the hotel (mostly rocky) besides the pet area. We grabbed some to-go cereal from the breakfast in the morning. The doors close really loudly so we could hear whenever people were coming or going around us on the floor. Ultimately, it was fine for us with the dog, but I wouldn't stay here again if we didn't have our dog with us. We could only find 1 local restaurant that was open at night for take-out, and we waited 45 minutes for a grilled cheese before we canceled the order and left. The only other open restaurant options were fast food.
