Awful Location & Accommodations
Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham HickoryUpon arrival, the 1st room we were sent to on 1st floor had a BROKEN refrigerator w/ NASTY melted chocolate ice cream all smeared in the freezer section, ABSOLUTELY FILTHY upholstery on the chair/ottoman that I wouldn't even TOUCH, much less sit on or put my items on, and a broken/CRACKED window w/ a wooden bar eerily jammed in the window sliding section.... and GROSS carpet. I never even looked at the bathroom. When we complained, the lady there helping the desk clerk (owner?) apologized saying she wasn't surprised because she remembered "who" had stayed in this room last & that they had 2 HUGE DOGS.
Accommodatingly, we were then moved to the room next door which did seem a bit larger and cleaner. But it also had the stick in the window, nasty upholstery, & dirty carpet. We decided to keep our food in our own CLEAN coolers w/ ice overnight rather than putting anything into this hotel's poorly kept & probably germ-filled fridge. We also did not feel totally "safe" in this local. This hotel certainly DID NOT meet our standards or expectations of cleanliness, amenities, or comfortable, relaxing accommodations in the least!
Overnight stay with new puppy
Sleep InnWould have given much higher rating IF Sleep Inn's pet-friendly rooms had been located on the FIRST floor (not the 2nd) and been more conducive to accessing a grassy area outside. Would have felt much SAFER with a fenced-in grassy area since I was traveling w/ a valuable 9 mos-old puppy I had just purchased and the car/road noises frightened him. Have stayed at other BringFido places (like the Ramada in Statesville, NC which was GREAT) where it was MUCH EASIER to walk from my room 2 doors away to an exit w/ an outside designated grassy area--away from the busy-ness/noise of the hotel entrance. There, it was much SAFER & more conducive to take a dog to "potty outside"...plus load the kennel in/out of car from 1st level room from my car in rear parking lot just steps away.
