Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park Dogs are welcome at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park. Due to potential conflict with alligators, snakes, and bison, pets are not allowed on some of the trails in the park, but this won't stop you and Fido having an awesome time. You can still wander the Wacahoota Trail, leading to an observation trail; Chacala Trail, a series of loop trails; and a number of other trails. The trails that are not pet-friendly are Cone's Dike Trail, Bolen Bluff Trail, and La Chua Trail. One of America's largest springs, the sparkling water is surrounded by beautiful gardens and historic buildings that have stood for generations. There are a number of pet-friendly trails dotted around, including the Sandhill trail, a 1.7 mile loop trail; the Sinkhole trail, traversing up through the uplands; and the Swamp trail, a boardwalk trail that will keep your feet dry while you explore. Captain Tom's Custom Charters Captain Tom's Custom Charters is dog-friendly! Captain Tom's offers a variety of custom boat trips, including fishing, sightseeing, photography, picnics, pleasure rides, and nature study. The tour group loves for people to bring their dogs along for the ride. They use a twenty-four-foot pontoon boat, which is enclosed and safe for most pets and makes for a slow and peaceful ride with minimal rocking. Dog owners should bring water, treats, and cleanup supplies that may be necessary. Tours feature an abundance of wildlife.
