Storm King State Park has a somewhat difficult, 3.5 mile hike that will take about 3 hours to complete with Fido. Although the trail skips Butter Hill and Storm King Mountain, it does offer wonderful views of the Hudson River, Bannerman Island, Cold Spring, and Constitution Marsh and is also more lightly traveled. This trail offers you and your pup difficult climbs and descents as well as magnificent views of the river and bridge. If you are headed out during hunting season be sure to wear orange. Dogs must remain on a leash no longer than 10 feet and are not allowed in public areas. Be sure to let Fido take a good drink as the only water is at the beginning and end of this trail.

Appalachian Trail (Dutch Hollow & Harriman State Park)
The Appalachian Trail in Dutch Hollow & Harriman State Park is a difficult, 11.15 mile hike that will take about 8.5 hours or overnight to complete with Fido. This is possibly one of the most challenging hikes on the Appalachian Trail, but also the most beautiful. Dogs must remain on a leash, and if you choose to camp you can setup at the Wildcat Shelter, which is 2.1 miles into the hike.
