Jordan Lake State Recreation Area Jordan Lake State Recreation Area in Apex, NC, offers 14 miles of dog-friendly trails, over 1,000 campsites, fishing, and boat launches at every access point. Pet Friendly Pink Beds Trail
Pink Beds Trail Pink Beds Trail in Pisgah Forest, NC, is dog-friendly. It's an easy, 3.4 mile hike that will take about 1.5 hours to complete with Fido. This loop trail is nice for all levels and ages, with its little elevation gain and foot-bridges for water crossing. Please note that dogs must be on a leash between April 1 and August 15, but must be under voice control at all times. See Details

This site is primarily oriented to horses, but when equestrian events are not in progress, it's a great place to bring the dogs. There are many trails, streams, ponds, and woods. Bullington Gardens Bullington Gardens in Hendersonville, NC is dog-friendly. This 12 acre horticultural education center and public botanical garden provides hands-on education to students, youth clubs & adults. It's also a place where visitors can stroll the grounds, enjoy the gardens and find a peaceful spot to relax. Leashed dogs are welcome on the property and water is provided beside the gift shop. Raven Rock State Park Raven Rock State Park is a dog-friendly recreation area in Lillington, NC. The park has five trails ranging from easy half-mile loops to longer five-mile loops. Hikers may encounter steep terrain, mountain laurel, rhododendron thickets and tumbling creeks. Please keep dogs on a leash at all times. Granville Athletic Park - Jonesland Environmental Preserve Dog-friendly Granville Athletic Park in Oxford, NC, is a fun place to get fresh air and enjoy the great outdoors. There are three miles of paved walking trails, the longest loop being 1.2 miles. There is also a large picnic shelter, restrooms, a playground and ample parking. All dogs must be on a leash no longer than six feet, and you must pick up after your pet. They do not supply bags, but there are many trashcans to dispose of your dog's waste. See Details
Gorges State Park The dog-friendly Gorges State Park is perfect for those looking for a challenge in Sapphire, NC. Most of the trails in Gorges State Park are labeled as strenuous, but can offer rewarding panorama of Lake Jocassee or waterfalls. Nantahala Bikeway The Nantahala Bikeway is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. High Bluff and Rhododendron Gardens Trails Bring Fido for a hike on the dog-friendly High Bluff and Rhododendron Gardens Trails in Bakersville, NC. They're a moderately easy, 3.5 mile hike on Roan Mountain that will take about 1.5 hours to complete with Fido. You will need to visit this trail April through November, since that is when the road to the gardens is open, but the best time is mid to late June when the Catawba rhododendrons are in bloom. Dismal Swamp State Park Dismal Swamp State Park is a pet-friendly recreation area offering 20 miles of trails and a 2,000-foot boardwalk overlooking the Great Dismal Swamp. Dogs are allowed on all routes in this South Mills, NC, park as long as they remain leashed. Bike and boat rentals are available through the park as well. This recreation area offers 37 miles of hiking trails, camping, fishing, horseback riding, swimming and much more. Otter Falls Trail You'll find great walking and biking paths down to a beautiful river and falls on the dog-friendly Otter Falls Trail in Seven Devils, NC. There's also a nice parking lot too, although it does get busy on weekends. Leashed dogs are welcome, as long as they are well-behaved and cleaned up after. Benches are provided at each trail intersection, and also at viewpoints. There's an observation deck located adjacent to Otter Falls at an elevation of 3,620'. Whiteside Mountain National Recreation Trail Whiteside Mountain National Recreation Trail is a pet-friendly hike in Nantahala National Forest in Cashiers, NC.
