If you’re looking for a pot of gold or just a wee bit of luck this March, try one of these dog-friendly events! You and Fido can join in the celebrations at parades, parties and pub gatherings across the country. In addition to the many St. Patrick’s Day Parades that welcome your Irish Setter, there are plenty of dog-friendly gatherings to mark on Fido’s calendar this month.

The Pittsburgh St. Patrick's Day Parade 2022 has honored the city’s large and active Irish community every year since 1869 with a family-oriented celebration. Be sure to arrive early to secure a spot along the route, as the parade is one of the largest of its kind in the world, drawing up to 20,000 people in years past. Please note that four-legged attendees can expect to hear the sounds of musket shots and fire truck sirens in addition to the noise of the crowd.

The 2022 Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade will kick off on the morning of March 12. Secure a pet-friendly hotel room conveniently along the parade route at the Fairmont Pittsburgh.

The annual Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade and dyeing of the Chicago River are the hallmarks of the city's deep Irish roots. But there are actually three pet-friendly St. Paddy’s parades taking place over the weekend in the Windy City. The largest one, which marches through downtown on Saturday, draws attendees from all over the globe. On Sunday, you’ll have to choose between attending the South Side Irish Parade or the Northwest Side Irish Parade, as they occur simultaneously. Both will include plenty of music, dancing and Irish-themed floats to entertain you and your party-going pooch.

Chicago’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities will take place on March 12 and 13. Stay near the river in style at the supremely cool and pet-friendly Chicago Athletic Association.

Atlanta St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The Atlanta St. Patrick’s Day Parade route runs through the heart of the city along Peachtree Street in Midtown. The parade itself dates back to 1858, which also makes it Atlanta’s longest-running event. Fido is welcome to join you at this popular family-friendly celebration, and will even be treated to several parading dog groups and llamas dressed in green from the Southeast Llama Rescue.

This year’s parade will take place on March 12. When you’re ready to leave the crowd behind, head back to your pet-friendly room at the Hotel Indigo Atlanta Midtown.

Freedom First St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Shamrock Festival

Slip on Fido’s best green outfit and bring him to meet the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales at the Freedom First St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Shamrock Festival in downtown Roanoke. In addition to the famous draft horses, this community event will feature live music, adult beverages, floats, bounce houses for the kids, clowns, and bagpipes.

The 2022 Freedom First St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Shamrock Festival will be held on March 12. After the parade, retreat to your pet-friendly room at Home2 Suites by Hilton Roanoke.

San Francisco St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Patrick’s Pawade

Fido is more than welcome to join you for the festivities at the San Francisco St. Patrick's Day Parade. The celebration includes over 100 floats, dance troupes and marching bands, and perhaps the grandest attraction, the Northern California Irish Wolfhound Club. Extend your stay in San Francisco for one of the dog-friendliest of St. Patrick’s Day happenings. At Patrick’s Pawade, the luck of the Irish has gone completely to the dogs! The largest annual event at Patrick's Park will kick off with Doga (yoga + dogs). Afterwards, you can parade with your pup and watch as adoptable dogs dressed to impress strut their stuff in donated canine costumes from Pet Krewe. The event gives 100 percent of the proceeds to Rocket Dog Rescue.

The San Francisco St. Patrick’s Day Parade will set off on March 12, and Patrick’s Pawade will be held on March 20. Stay within walking distance of the park at the pet-friendly Argonaut Hotel.

New York St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Want to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day alongside nearly a million other parade-goers? Leash up your pup and head to the New York St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2022. The televised event marches along Fifth Avenue, passing a number of NYC attractions including St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Central Park. While pets are not permitted along the parade route or in the stands, leashed dogs are welcome to watch the cavalcade from the sidewalk or from within Central Park.

The 2022 New York St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on March 17. The New York Hilton Midtown is a pet-friendly hotel convenient to the parade route that also provides easy access to Central Park for you and your canine.

Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The city of Savannah invites revelers and their pups to gather for the Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Held since 1824, the celebration attracts a huge crowd every year to this southern gem of a city. Four-legged friends are welcome along the parade route, which winds through the historic downtown district.

The parade kicks off on March 17. Enjoy a weekend in dog-friendly Savannah with a stay at the Kimpton Brice Hotel. Canine guests are welcomed with complimentary treats.

South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Whether you’re Irish or just Irish-for-the-day, you and your lucky pup are welcome at the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2022. Bostonians were the first to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in North America, and the Beantown festivities continue to be among the grandest in the world. Today, as in 1724, the main attraction is the parade, which honors both Irish-American culture and Evacuation Day, a commemoration of the evacuation of British forces from the city of Boston during the American Revolutionary War. Make sure you tell your patriotic pooch to keep his eyes out for “soldiers” in colonial garb marching alongside the colorful floats and Irish bands.

The South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on March 20 this year. After the festivities, Fido can seek out peace and quiet at the Colonnade Hotel, located in the city’s historic Back Bay neighborhood.

Winter Dog Days at Governors Island

Winter Dog Days at Governors Island is a seasonal program that welcomes city-dwelling dogs and their humans to enjoy the relative peace and privacy of the island’s incredible 172 acres, complete with spectacular views of New York Harbor, car-free pathways, and open fields. There is also a fenced-in dog park on the island for getting out the zoomies.

Winter Dog Days will take place every Saturday in March and April. Return to Manhattan for the night and rest up at Staypineapple New York in Midtown. Dogs of any size are welcome.

Mardi Growl Pet Parade and Party

Even if you can’t make it to the Big Easy for Mardi Gras this year, you and Fido can still celebrate with the Mardi Growl Pet Parade and Party! Thousands of spectators will line up to watch hundreds of four-legged friends, many in costume, march the streets of downtown Knoxville to raise awareness for the Young-Williams Animal Center and support for Knoxville’s pet-friendliest community. The pet parade steps off at Willow Avenue, winds through the Old City and down Gay Street before leading to a party on Market Square and Krutch Park.

This year’s event will take place on March 5 in downtown Knoxville. After the party and parade, you and your pooch can stroll over to your room at the pet-friendly Crowne Plaza Knoxville Downtown University.

Mardi Paws

Historic downtown Covington is home to the epic Mardi Paws parade. Each year, the krewe picks a unique theme, and creative canines and their teams show up with costumes and floats to match. This year is all about the Glory Days of the 80s, so expect to see teased fur, “dog-lorians,” “Mutt-alica” tribute bands, and much more. Competition for the best floats and costumes is friendly but fierce, and the winner is awarded the coveted “Poop Trophy,” along with other fun prizes.

Mardi Paws 2022 will take place on Sunday, March 6. This 5-bedroom Charming 1882 Country Cottage can comfortably fit your whole krewe.

Bike Week Ruff Ride

Bike Week Ruff Ride invites all bikers, drivers, walkers, t-shirt enthusiasts, animal lovers and their canines to rally together for a fundraising poker run for Halifax Humane Society. Participants will be "dealt" a card through an app and can collect additional cards at six separate ride stops. Once the final card is "drawn," participants will be notified of the winning hand.

The Bike Week Ruff Ride 2022 will roll out on March 10. Stay conveniently right on the A1A at the Three Oars Beach Bungalow.
