Spring has finally sprung, and Fido is itching to get out and about. While gathering in groups isn't an option at the moment, you and your sociable best friend can still attend a dog-friendly event this month. From virtual Easter Egg hunts to lookalike photo contests, many innovative organizers are taking their get-togethers online. Take part in these nine activities with your pooch from the comfort of your own home, and help out your community at the same time!

Virtual Annual bow-WOW-walk
Explore new frontiers for a good cause at the Virtual Annual bow-WOW-walk to benefit the Charlottesville-Albermale SPCA! Walkers can join the fundraising challenge using WoofTrax. Track how far and how long you walk your dog for a chance to win a variety of prizes. Other competitions include a photo and video contest as well as a scavenger hunt. Registered participants can submit photos or videos for their preferred categories, and anyone online can vote for winners.
The Virtual Annual bow-WOW-walk will take place from April 1 through May 1. Registration is $35 per adult and $25 for those under 18 years old.
"I Look Like My Dog" Photo Contest
Are you and Fido starting to look alike? While hanging out at home, take a selfie with your furry doppelgänger and enter the online "I Look Like My Dog" Photo Contest, presented by the Wine and Dine with Doggies Meetup group. Your canine twin can win "pawsome" prizes sponsored by Healthy Spot and Centinela Feed & Pet Supplies. Winners will be chosen based on comments from members and the event host. Prized are only available for pickup in West LA.
The "I Look Like My Dog" Photo Contest will run from April 1 through April 30. Photo submissions are free, but you must join the Wine and Dine with Doggies Meetup group.
Sip and Paint a Pet Portrait Fun at Home
Relax at home with Fido and your beverage of choice while you channel your inner Van Gogh. Registration for Sip and Paint a Pet Portrait Fun at Home includes an easy DIY kit which contains art supplies and a custom illustration of your pet for you to trace and watercolor .
Sip and Paint a Pet Portrait Fun at Home will take place from April 1 through April 30. Kits can be purchased for $75 including shipping, and will be mailed to you from New York City artist Michele Cahill.
Virtual SPCA of Wake County Dog Walk & Woofstock
Join the SPCA of Wake County online as they light the path home for more than 4,000 homeless pets in this year’s Virtual SPCA of Wake County Dog Walk & Woofstock. Throughout the day, Dog Walk participants will be encouraged to post photos or videos while wearing the official Dog Walk t-shirt and matching pet bandana, using the hashtag #SPCAWakeDogWalk so they can be shared on SPCA Wake's social media channels.
This Virtual SPCA of Wake County Dog Walk & Woofstock will be held Saturday, April 4, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Registration is free, but the hope is that every participant reaches a fundraising goal of saving one pet by raising a minimum of $100.
Virtual Annual Dog Easter Egg Hunt
This year’s Virtual Annual Dog Easter Egg Hunt will be held as an online fundraiser for City Dogs Cleveland. To participate, simply fill some plastic eggs with treats and have Fido hunt for them around the house! Post your pics in the comments section of the event's Facebook page.
The Virtual Annual Dog Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Sunday, April 5, from noon to 3 p.m. Registration is free, but donations to City Dogs Cleveland are encouraged.
Virtual Mutt March
Walk your pooch around the neighborhood on a Virtual Mutt March to benefit the Jacksonville Humane Society. You and Fido will be able to participate in all the festivities via Facebook Live, Instagram Stories, Twitter and the website. All proceeds will support the Jacksonville Humane Society’s mission to provide compassionate care to pets in need.
The Virtual Mutt March will kick off on Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is $30 per adult and $15 for virtual walkers between the ages of 5-18.
Annual Pet Walk - Virtual Edition
Form an online team with coworkers, friends and family, or join as an individual walker with Fido in the Annual Pet Walk - Virtual Edition. Money raised will help support the many programs at SPCA Tampa Bay. Join the online "pawty" on the SPCA's website, where you can interact with fellow pet lovers and raise money for furry friends in need.
The Annual Pet Walk - Virtual Edition will step off on Saturday, April 18, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Registration is $25 per person, and additional fundraising is encouraged.
Pet Palooza Walk for the Animals REROUTED
Pet Palooza Walk for the Animals REROUTED allows the Charlotte community to not only support the Humane Society of Charlotte via the online fundraising walk, but also local small businesses through a Virtual Vendor Village! You and Fido will also be able to engage in virtual activities via Facebook Live. All registered walkers will be invited to enjoy a one-mile walk with their pet wherever they see fit. Each participant is encouraged to raise at least $100, and top fundraisers will win funtastic prizes.
Pet Palooza Walk for the Animals REROUTED will take place Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration is $20 per adult and $15 per youth, and additional fundraising is encouraged.
Walk for Paws Goes Virtual
You may not be able to gather in the park for a noble cause, but the hard work of saving lives doesn’t stop. Join Brandywine Valley SPCA for Walk for Paws Goes Virtual to animals in need! Sign up and recruit your friends and family to join the cause. Fundraising prizes this year are rumored to be better than ever!
Walk for Paws Goes Virtual will be held on Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is free but participants are required to fundraise.
