Second stay at this location. Love the staff, the grounds, and the clean comfortable rooms. Very pet friendly.
- RobinMay 12, 2024Fantastic!
Beautiful property that was very pet friendly. We will definitely go back.
- ChristineMar 23, 2024Great Getaway
We rented the suite for a week. Chosen originally because it was dog friendly and spacious. My husband, myself, my mother (who is 84), and our 2 dogs were not disappointed. The property is centrally located and beautiful. I can not say enough about their staff. They were super friendly and helpful. The only negative I would say is the pet fee is a little steep for a weeks stay. However, I knew the price up front so that's on me. I would absolutely stay there again and would recommend others.
- CurtisSep 20, 2023Great room and grounds
We chose this place because we were travelling with our dog and they are dog friendly. The buildings and grounds are very cute and clean, and offer a lot of extras - pool, pickleball, a basketball hoop, a nice trail in the rear where we encountered deer and turkeys while walking our dog, and the patio area. The person at the desk on check-in was very helpful and friendly, and we also enjoyed the ice cold mild and delicious cookies both afternoons we were there. Our room was spacious and clean, the beds comfy, and we appreciated the large refrigerator. The TV had a good amount of channels available. Even though we were right off the road, we didn't hear a thing once we closed the French doors.
One weird issue was the temperature of the room. We were on the lower level with French doors and no windows. The unit above us had windows. It was warm during our visit, and we like things cool, so we set the temperature control unit to a temperature that should have made the room cool enough and to our liking. During the first night we had to lower the temp even more as we were too warm to sleep. Ultimately we ended up with the temp set as low as it would go, with the fan as high as it would go, with it still being too warm for us.
The temperature control unit was above the vanity, and the temperature there was comfortable, but that coolness just didn't permeate into the sleeping area. The morning we checked out I noticed that the unit above us had kept their windows about half way open all night, so maybe they were having the same problem. I'm not sure what the issue was - maybe the people in the room next to us were from Arizona and couldn't get their room warm enough to suit them. If we stay again when it is warm, we will request an upper level room.
- AngelaAug 25, 2023Great property!
Loved the property! The walking trail was perfect for taking my dog out to stretch his legs. Would definitely return.
- LisaJun 22, 2023Charming place
Super nice staff. Great amenities for the dog, walking path and greenspace. Breakfast was ok, and they welcome the dog into the breakfast area.
- JeanieApr 26, 2023Best place on a cross country trip!
Beautiful, peaceful accommodations and very friendly people. This was by far the best place that we stayed on our cross country trip!
- TeresaNov 8, 2022Good hotel for dogs
Very nice grassy area for dogs and we were fortunate enough to have it right outside our door. Poop bags were available and there was little to no poop on the grass. Although we have bag carriers on all our leashes but appreciated their availability in case we ran out. Our room size was excellent for my sister and I and each of our dogs. Bathroom was of good size as well to place the dog's water bowl without being in the way. My one negative remark but this is for 99% of the hotels is the cost/dog/night. The dogs don't use any of the hotel supplies and if breakfast is available they aren't eating the food, so why a per night fee or a per dog as 2 dogs aren't taking up any more space than 1? Overall though, this was a lovely hotel/inn and close to so many things to see and do in the area. Be sure to check out the local brewery; good beer and food.
- TeresaOct 10, 2022Wonderful
We loved staying in this place. To begin, the staff was wonderful. Such kind people who went the extra mile to make sure their guests had everything they need. Rooms were comfortable and the restaurant next door was equally friendly. The food was good and it was so nice to have the restaurant so close. The grounds of the Bavarian Hills are beautiful. The flowers were gorgeous. They are very good to let your dog stay in the room as you explore the area. I highly recommend this place whether you have a pet or not.
- CarolOct 4, 2022Perfect Place to Vacation with Pups
Our two pups loved Bavarian Inn Black Hills, especially all the walking paths that they explored daily. They saw their first deer and first wild turkeys at Bavarian Inn and were excited every day. Our room was lovely and the staff was friendly with everyone. In addition, the flowers adorning the inn were breathtaking! It was a beautiful place to take our pups!
- LindaSep 20, 2022Good location
The whole town was pet friendly!
- JulieSep 17, 2022Comfy with Lots of Room to Explore
The Bavarian Inn is magical. Her both pets and humans. There's plenty of room to explore around the grounds for your pet. My room had veranda doors and chill out my dog to watch outside something he very much enjoys. Pet walking area was centrally located and fully stocked, but there were additional walking trails that led behind the property and around the property for nice early morning and evening walks.
- CarolSep 9, 2022Great Stay!
Neat, clean, modern room. Sits on 5 acres so our large dog can explore. Dog needs to be under voice command. 2 pools, hot tub, & multi purpose court for Pickleball & a hoop for basketball. Definitely would stay again.
- NicoleAug 16, 2022Happy Dachshund!
Our dog was welcomed at the Bavarian Inn with LOTS of green space and a 1/4 mile trail! A great place to bring a dog!
- CherylAug 10, 2022Nice folks here
The rooms are like a 60’s motel. Not much updating. Not particularly clean, but there are worse places nearby!
- SusanAug 9, 2022Great Place
The room was bright and positive. Staff were friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed my stay!! Great area for the dogs.
- RichardJul 25, 2022The best
There is not much to not love about the Bavarian! The room was spacious and comfortable. The grounds had a lot of fun things to do, plus for our fur baby, he had a great place to run and play. Go for the views, stay for the cookies.
- KiraJul 13, 2022So dog and people friendly!
This place was so amazing! I loved staying here and so did our pup. Booking through BringFido was cheaper than booking other ways online. We were lucky to get a complimentary upgrade to include a jacuzzi which was pretty cool. Fabulous little walking trail and side roads for walking/running with our pooch. Free postcards and stamps for connecting with the people back home! Two pools, indoor & outdoor. We loved going downtown for dinner with our pup on the patio at Skogen Kitchen too!
- KaylaJun 19, 2022Dog friendly with lots of amenities!
I would recommend staying here with or without the pups! Nicely updated hotel with lots of amenities! Cookie happy hour, games you can take to your room or play in the lobby, 2 pools and nice patio set ups! The cafe is also great and dog friendly!
- EthanJun 15, 2022Great stay
This place is amazing. Cool, old style motor inn with nice updates. Friendly staff and so many amenities right on the property. Cafe, indoor & outdoor pool and lots of grassy spaces for the pups to walk. Wish we had more time there to relax. Was also nice that it is a little outside of Custer and away from the touristy stuff.
- BMay 28, 2022Comfortable and just right for us
Quaint Inn with lots of details that make the stay delightful. From the chocolate chip cookie happy hour to the chairs and table outside every room to relax a bit in the fresh air, we were pleasantly surprised. Lots of green space and a 3/4 mile European walking path in the back, we got lots of exercise and our pooch was really happy. The walls are kind of thin, so that’s an issue. But our neighbors went to sleep about the same time as us- thankfully most people are on the road and leaving early the next day. Most importantly, the staff is downright wonderful so that made the fact that this is an older property something to just simply overlook. Highly recommended. We will def be back when passing through again.
- ErinMay 26, 2022Hospitality check
Clean enough, cute, warm cookies and milk at check-in, board games to take back to the room. Plenty of green space for walking and bags for poopies. VERY dog accommodating. In fact, we were going to get a quick dinner and the front said I could leave them crated in the welcome area if I was concerned about my little whimpering pup. So sweet. Great staff!!! My only complaint is that the walls are paper-thin. My neighbors were well, I heard everything.
- CairieMay 8, 2022Great for you and pup!
My daughter and I and her field retriever stayed for 2 nights in early May and it was AWESOME! Green space for your pup, a trail, and very welcoming. This is an older inn but extremely well cared for, clean, and spacious rooms. Highly recommend!
- MelissaAug 28, 2021Clean, quiet, and a great outdoor pool
The Bavarian Inn is cute and the room was clean and spacious. The bath products, though not large, smelled lovely. We had a first floor room in the back building. It was quiet and worked will for moving in and out. There are lots of great amenities on the property - dog walking trail, swimming pools, court games, and cookie happy hour! We REALLY liked the outdoor pool. I'd stay here again.
- ROBERTJul 29, 2021Very nice
Great time.
- AshleyJul 19, 2021Great room and location!
Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were very helpful and attentive. We took advantage of the large dog relief area and the trail behind the basketball/pickle ball court where we were able to walk our dog. The inn is also conveniently located close to several dog friendly restaurants in Custer and Hill City. Definitely would stay here again!
- RodJul 10, 2021Great all around
Very pleased. Would stay here again.
- HaileyNov 5, 2020Cute Homey Inn!
This Inn was so cute! It had decorations all over the property and the rooms were great! There is a small hiking trail behind the hotel that you can walk your dogs and we even got to see a couple of deer laying out on their property. The pool and hot tub were open and they also have two outdoor patios that guests can sit on with games like chess and connect four. There is also a cute breakfast place right next to the Inn that you can order breakfast from. This place was also very close to Mount Rushmore and just down the road from the Crazy Horse Memorial!
- SamOct 4, 2020Great location - cute room
Also nice amenities and the EV charging station was great
- JulieaAug 18, 2020Very Nice and Clean
First of all, my favs are Marriott and Westin. Traveling with a woofie changes things. We had no reservation. Long, long road trip....like six states. Nicest motel so far! Cute details, someone likes to garden! Quiet, quaint and close to historic Custer. Near Mt Rushmore and Wind Cave, Crazy Horse.
