Reviews
Travelers find the Best Western Charleston Inn to be generally clean, comfortable, and pet-friendly. Some guests note that the hotel's location along a busy road can make entry and exit inconvenient, while others appreciate the convenient proximity to downtown Charleston.

- GregMay 21, 2024Nice stay
Hotel was very nice. Great location to downtown Charleston. Room was clean. Could have used a bit more green space for the dog relief area, but it was adequate and clean.
- ChristyApr 14, 2024Great Desk Staff
This is just a typical Best Western, clean but nothing fancy. I liked that the room didn't feel like a "Pet" room. Front desk staff obviously loves dogs. Our pup is pad trained so we didn't need an outdoor relief area - can't comment on that. Fee of $30/night is on the higher end of acceptable to us but room didn't smell so maybe they are using the funds for extra cleaning. ;-) This hotel is about 15 minutes from downtown so well worth it if you don't want to pay in town rates.
- AnnMar 27, 2024Nice stay
Hotel was clean, friendly, and had a good breakfast. Only downside was it was located on busy road making it hard to come and go from hotel.
- AlanJan 29, 2024Nice Hotel
Super clean. Great bed. Wonderful breakfast. The location was decent. Pet friendly.
- KelleyDec 31, 2023Nice for a quick stay
We made a quick overnight trip to Charleston and took our elderly yellow lab. I used BringFido to find a hotel that would allow her to stay. Our hotel was an older hotel that had been updated. It was clean and beds comfortable. We did not receive a dog welcome gift but was no big deal. The reception desk want even aware we had a dog until I told them. Would use this hotel again.
- DouglassSep 4, 2023Very nice
Clean and well maintained.
- ElizabethMar 2, 2023Clean
We had a wonderful stay. The hotel is dated but clean. Perfect for us, we will be coming back
- DeborahJan 30, 2023Great for the price
Rooms was clean. Space to walk the pup.
- SueJan 3, 2023Convenient to city
Very clean. Some older furniture but free of any bad odors. I would stay again if in area.
- IdalgizaSep 3, 2022Never again
Hotel was in a sketchy area and dog relief area was gross. I had to be moved once and almost moved a second time when fire alarm battery was low and kept beeping at 11:45pm. I had to disable it since no one was available at hotel to help and couldn’t move rooms again. Honestly Obviously not the safest thing, but couldn’t repack everything and drag my daughter out of bed and two dogs to move again. Dog relief area was all mud and hardly a patch of grass. I took the bat I carry in my car into the room with me since the area and some fellow guests were questionable. Honestly I’d pass on Charleston altogether (no southern charm here) but definitely this hotel.
- MarleneAug 17, 2022Great location
Rooms were nice
- ShannonJul 8, 2022Comfortable night sleep
Rather location was great, close to everything but away from the busy areas. Loved that they allowed us to bring our dogs, and the kids loved the pool.
- StevenMay 27, 2022Decent Basic Room
The room is just your basic motel room, no frills but it was clean and had a great area outside for your dogs with a dog station available. It is located about 20 minutes from the downtown. The front end receptionist named April was super nice!
- TammyApr 25, 2022Not quite what we expected
This motel is still not offering housekeeping service. They said that it was due to COVID protocols, but there were a lot of people working on the grounds and in the hallways, and it doesn’t seem like cleaning rooms and bringing fresh supplies would put them more at risk. Additionally, our room was on the second floor which isn’t very convenient when you are having to take a dog in and out to do his business. It seems they should put folks who they know are coming with a dog on the first floor. I feel sorry for an older dog that might have to go up and down multiple times a day. I will say that the room was clean, and everyone with whom we interacted was very nice.
- MarkApr 17, 2022Awesome
Clean, pet friendly, comfy beds, nice pool and breakfast. Can’t beat it!
- Louise JApr 12, 2022Fabulous service!
This comfortable, clean, affordable hotel was wonderful. The staff is great and very caring. My room was large and very clean. My dog loved the comfort too! I highly recommend staying here and will do so again when I am back in the area.
- AliciaApr 9, 2022Very dog friendly!
I stayed for 1 night and friends had their own room with their dogs. All 3 rooms were nice. We got there late and after being in crates all day wanted to burn some energy. So we walked the parking lot. It was well lit (and has 2 dog potty areas with cans) and fenced in so you don't feel like just anyone could be parked in there. Parking for our vehicles was right in front of our rooms too which was convenient. Employees were friendly and quick to get us checked in and in rooms next to each other. The rooms were clean as well.
- BARBARADec 30, 2021Quiet in spite of being on busy road
Not a bad place for the price. It was clean and comfortable in spite of being older.
- ColinJul 13, 2021Seen Better Days
On the positive side, we were able to check in early. Unfortunately the room was not subjected to the proper cleaning procedures, as there was a cockroach on the floor in front of the bath area sink.
We asked for another room, which was granted. Unfortunately it was on the second floor and opened up to the smoking area. I was disappointed in clarity of the booking procedures of BringFido. I guess that you do not contact these places directly, but use Booking.com. This was explained to me by the manager when I asked for my AARP discount. You clearly advertise that the rates using your service are the same as I could expect going direct. That is completely false. I understand now why you get the money up front for all your bookings, as would have cancelled the remainder and booked them myself through Wyndham/La Quinta. I will not use your service or stay at Best Western in the future. A very dissatisfied former customer. - LarryJul 5, 2021Great location and service!
We will return for another visit and stay here!
- RonnieJun 12, 2021Not friendly
They did not acknowledge my dog was there except for the bill.
- KristyMay 20, 2021Dog friendly
Everything was great .
- DanielleJan 8, 2021Very nice for the price
Nice hotel and good location to dining and grocery store.
Clean and quiet - CherylApr 29, 2020My Idea Of A Perfect Pet Friendly Stop
Traveling from Florida to Maine during COVID-19 pandemic. We would drive straight through except for the cat. Because we also have a dog and a lot of stuff, we prefer motels with exterior doors. We had a room that open to a courtyard with a picnic BBQ area. The room was fine. Beds comfortable. We checked in at 5am and were gone by noon. During the pandemic Best Western doesn’t enter a guest room for 72 hours after a guest leaves. That was reassuring. Tonight we will be getting the cat a room at a Best Western in Fredericksburg, VA.
- EmilySep 23, 2019Go somewhere else!
We arrived late after a full day at the beach. First of all, this is a MOTEL. The lobby looks nice, but room entrances are from the outside. We were out in the very back, bottom level. Our room was smelly and musty, most likely the very gross carpet that was in the room. The bathroom shower had leaked so upon entering the room, the bathroom floor was covered with water. There were bugs everywhere around our room. Within minutes of getting there , I had multiple visible bug bites from inside of our room. Then when the neighbors weed and cigarette smoke started creeping in, I had had enough. We went to the front desk, we were offered no help. Her response was “I don’t know what you want me to do about it”. They offered no apology or even a different room. We left and stayed at a Hyatt that was only slightly more expensive. Was also told I’d have to contact Bringfido for a refund. Do yourself a favor and spend a tiny bit more and stay somewhere really nice.
- FreedomSep 15, 2019Great Experience
Due to last min travel plans falling through, found this hotel in a pinch. Was extremely concerned given we don’t travel much with dogs (one gets too motion sick) and we typically stay with Marriott, Sheraton, and Hilton. Honestly can’t complain about a single thing. Lobby clean and smelled great, we were given a quiet room with great view, awesome dog bag full of multiple types of treats, room had everything needed, was super clean and smelled amazing. Soft comfy bed with good pillows, pool was nice, complimentary breakfast was amazing with lots of options: hot and cold. Would stay again!
- CindySep 10, 2019One Night Stay
We stayed one night traveling through. No issues with the pets. There is a dog area which could use alittle attention. Room was clean with exception of dust on lamps, not a big issue for me. I would stay again.
- DennisAug 20, 2019Best Western Inn Charleston, SC
We appreciate BringFido securing The Best Western Inn in Charleston. We had a wonderful vacation and the staff at the hotel made it very welcoming.
- KaitlynJul 26, 2019Clean and Comfy
I'll start by saying that I am very picky about cleanliness and about where I sleep. However, I was very pleased with this motel! Despite having carpeting, the room smelled fresh and clean. The bathroom area was spotless and we could smell a trace of cleaners which always makes me happy! Housekeeping was excellent and vaccuumed/cleaned bathroom and sink areas daily. Beds, pillows, and linens were comfy. Breakfast was plentiful, with eggs/omelettes, bacon/ sausage, potatoes/biscuits and gravy, waffles and pancakes, various breads/pasteries, grits/oatmeal, yogurt/fruits, and lots of drink choices. They had an outside patio where you could have breakfast with your dog, and a couple smallish areas designated for going potty with bags and receptacles. The outside entry to the rooms made taking your dog to use the restroom a breeze. They were so kind to our Dale and went out of their way to make him feel welcome, as well as gave him some yummy and healthy treats. The area felt safe and there were several places to eat nearby, with about a 15 minute drive to the historic district and nearby beaches. Only downside was getting in and out of the hotel because the Savannah Highway is busy. Sometimes it would take us 5 minutes just to get on or off of the road, or we would have to go turn around and come back. It wasn't a big deal for us, but if you are a nervous driver it's something to consider. I am getting too long winded though. It was a great, clean, and comfotable stay. Would recommend and would stay again!
- TonyaJun 12, 2019Don't Stay
The lobby is beautiful, which is misleading. The room smelled so bad my lil guy appeared uncomfortable. The room had flies galore. I thought maybe due to the weather. The last straw was the infestation of roaches in the bathroom. There are better choices for the money. Fido should really reconsider putting them as a pet friendly hotel. Any place that would subject an human or animal to these conditions and allow them to pay for it should be charged with a crime. Totally disgusted.
- KarenMay 8, 2019Convenient location
Pros: Rooms were fairly clean despite carpeting, staff were nice, lobby was beautiful, complimentary breakfast, 15-min drive to King Street
Cons: carpeting, motel style hotel not shown in pictures, complimentary breakfast on patio but was wet from sprinklers so unusable, toilet would not flush
- FrankApr 24, 2019Convenient. Clean. Comfortable
Great location and choice. Checkin was quick. Room was clean and comfortable, with access to back area to walk the dog. Would highly recommend and would stay again.
- AngelaFeb 8, 2019Excellent!
I'm familiar with the area, so I was confident that I'd receive quality service. Clean and comfortable room, friendly staff, and you cannot go wrong with Bessinger's BBQ down the road!
- LizJan 14, 2019Road Trip
Great for one night with my pup. Decent location, clean room and friendly staff
- R.P.More than a year agoGood Doggie Place
Stayed 2 nights, requested and got a room in the back near the 2 doggie walking areas. Got a nice treat pack with BringFido sticker on it on our arrival! Room was clean and comfortable, entire staff was attentive and very dog friendly. Only about 10-15 minute ride to downtown and many dog friendly restaurants in the area.
- LeaMar 31, 2018Awesome!
We had a great stay at Best Western Charleston Inn. They have lots of area to walk my dog, pick up stations, and dog loving staff. They also had a great complimentary breakfast.!
