Wide Open Spaces
Las Cruces Dog ParkThis was a perfect stop that wasn't too far off the highway to allow our big girls to stretch their legs. I was happy to see that there was a lot of water stations and big buckets to keep the pups hydrated.
Fun Stop
Recycled Roadrunner SculptureEasy to get to if you are traveling eastbound, but prepare to back-track if you are heading west. It was a neat stop along our road trip and there was plenty of parking.
Great to RUN!
Dog Park at Tom Bolack Urban Forest ParkThis park was great for our youngest to get out and run. It is a long park and tucked in a neighborhood so it is quiet for being so close to the highway. A big spigot and water buckets were also available.
Goofy History
Cadillac RanchA great wide open spot to stretch. It was sad to see so much litter on the ground from past visitors...but it was fun to see the different vehicle tails. Make sure to look up the history of the 'ranch'!
PAWesome park!
Edmond Dog Park at Bickham-Rudkin ParkWe visited this park each way on our road trip through Oklahoma City. It was HUGE! You could mingle with the pack in the center or find your own little corner to sniff and walk around. Plenty of parking and drinking spots.
Dusty Fun
John Stiff Memorial Dog ParkIt was a bit windy and dusty when we stopped through in January, but it was just what we needed to stretch our long legs.
Lakeside Relaxation
Lynx Lake - South Shore Boat RampGrowing up in the Midwest, I found it a little weird to have lakes that you aren't allowed to swim in, but if you are looking for a lake to enjoy a picnic by then Lynx Lake is it. We stayed at Hilltop Campground, which was walking distance from the boat ramp. Our pup is afraid of water anyway, so this was a perfect getaway for a day by the lake.
Oldest Saloon in Arizona!
The PalaceThe staff is dressed in costume and the inside is like a miniature museum with all sorts of neat artifacts. Pups are only allowed on the patio out back, which has plenty of shade, but be warned that it can get pretty toasty and stagnant in July. They have water and milkbones ready to share with your furry friend.
In the Heart of Downtown
CuppersWe were looking for a quick place for coffee prior to hiking and stumbled across Cuppers. It was a pretty warm day out so we didn't stick around to enjoy the dog-friendly section outside. Be warned that the dog-friendly portion is a few tables outside with umbrellas on the East side of the building (aka mornings are WARM in the summer). The coffee was delicious and the breakfast sandwich was just what we needed to start the day! Wish we returned later in the day for some gelato...
Quaint inside and out!
Viva Coffee HouseNot only is the space quaint, but so is the coffee menu and baked goods display :) Though the menu is small, just describe what you are interested in and they have the know-how to make it happen. A local bakery brings in scones, bagels, and muffins! As one of our pictures shows, they will gladly make your pup a pup-a-ccino to enjoy while you sip something delicious.
Decisions, decisions...
Casa Marana Craft Beer & WineCasa Marana provides a wide variety of beers on tap PLUS a giant cooler full of bottled goodies. They have a nice open floor space and have a small table with games available for patrons. They have chips and salsa for sale, but provide menus of a few nearby restaurants that deliver food to Casa.
Delish!
Market Bar & KitchenWe visited Market Bar in December and the weather was great for being outside. The patio faces south which meant great sunbathing for our Great Dane. They made sure she had a bowl for water and even brought her a burger patty on the house! Absolutely recommend!
Run run run!
Thorpe Bark ParkThis place was great for our great Dane to stretch and play. There were buckets of water there since the lines were winterized, but bring water just in case if you're going in December like we did!
Beautiful big trees and fresh mountain air made for a great time.
Must visit!
Sage Brush Trading CompanyThis place is awesome! I'm not a big shopper but was exploring Flagstaff waiting for my husband to finish some training and we had our great Dane with us. The staff was incredible, giving love to our pup and offered wine/beer while shopping! I will absolutely be visiting when we are in Flagstaff again!
Hidden Gem
Medical Center ParkThis park was awesome to stretch our legs during our long drive from Missouri to Arizona. We actually visited the park to see the Helium Monument, which was too cool! The monument is also a sundial AND a time capsule. Check it out!!
MUST-VISIT!
Canteen BrewhouseWe read online that this brewery had a patio, but since we were travelling in January we didn't know if it would be enclosed...LUCKY US! Half of the pea-gravel patio was enclosed with heaters! PLUS there was live music and the food/brews were DELICIOUS. Will visit again if we're up that way with our 4-legged girl!
