Great location

Hampton Inn Harrisonburg University

Staff was very friendly but the hotel was not great. It did not look, feel or smell clean. The lighting in the room was very dim with only three lights with low light wattage bulbs. There were very few outlets and almost no places to charge a phone, laptop or iPad. TV was stuck on one channel, could not change it. Only one of the two elevators worked. The fridge had an ice block at the back of it so not much stayed cold. The ice machines were only functioning on 2 of the 4 floors. I could not change the temp in my room as the batteries on the thermostat had died - had to ask reception to fix that. All of the above took place on a one night stay. This hotel has potential but is not well maintained.

Meh

Ramada by Wyndham Cumberland Downtown

This hotel looked like it had just reopened after Covid. While the staff was very nice and professional, I would not stay here again. There is little parking, the one front door did not open, one of two elevators was out of order, some of the outdoor steps were broken, everything looked worn and a bit run down. There was almost no grass to walk your dog, pick up bags dispenser was broken and empty, dog walking area not well lit nor an easy access from any outer door. The breakfast area was large with lots of tables, but almost no one ate there as the food choices were very limited and not too appetizing. Fortunately there is a shopping center about 2 blocks away, a deli & ice cream store a half block away, and several fast food restaurants within 2 miles.

Nice stay

Holiday Inn Express Boston - Milford an IHG Hotel

My room was fine: great control of temperature, huge room sized refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker (for tea also) in the room, comfortable bed, great shower pressure, desk, armchair, huge counter with bathroom sink, multiple places to plug in and charge electronics; breakfast foods were varied - something for everyone with hot and cold beverages, seating a little limited. I brought my giant breed dog. The room was plenty large for her and her crate, but there is really no grassy area to exercise your dog nor is there a good place on the property to walk a dog. The staff was very nice, but for the pet fee required, think twice about staying here for more than one night.

Howard Johnson Express Hadley, Mass.

Howard Johnson by Wyndham Amherst Hadley

My room was clean and the king sized bed was comfortable. The large refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee maker, hair dryer and extra access outlets allowed for easy cell phone and IPad charging. There was a variety of cereal, pastries, juices, coffee and tea, yoghurt, fruit, and hard boiled eggs for breakfast from 6-10 am. I brought my dog with me and paid the $20 per night pet fee. However, I did not find this hotel to be pet friendly. I was required to sign a pet agreement and was told where I could walk my dog - behind the hotel. Although there were pet pick up bag dispensers, they were empty. There were no trash cans near either dispenser for pet waste disposal.

The grass area behind the hotel was spacious, but it was littered with dozens of “dog deposits”. I could barely walk my dog in the area between the dispensers or around the in ground pool without stepping in dog deposits. I realize that it is dog owners’ responsibility to do cleanup, but do expect the hotel grounds maintenance staff to do some cleanup. It was disgusting. In addition, I had an unpleasant experience with a staff member from reception. I left my dog in the room for perhaps five minutes to go downstairs(using the stairs) to get some items out of my van. My dog barked while I was out of the room - about 4 min. about 3:30 pm on a Sat. afternoon. I returned to the room and quieted my dog. Less than five min. later I received a phone call from reception saying there was a complaint about my dog barking.

If my dog had been barking constantly for a half hour early in the am, in the middle of the night or late at night, I would totally understand the complaint and have nothing negative to say. However, if a hotel accepts dogs, then it also must expect to hear some barking. Dogs, in general, do bark briefly at times, they do not stay totally silent all day long. My suggestion to all traveling with a dog is to look elsewhere for lodging. To BringFido, perhaps it is time for you to check out this hotel by staying here with your own dog(s).

Aloft Richmond West, VA

Aloft Richmond West Short Pump

This hotel met my needs for lodging with my large dog. There was nothing special. As the hotel was full, we had to ride the elevator to the fourth floor and walk down most of the hallway to get to our room. Last year I had a room on the second floor, which made it much easier to take my dog outside for a walk. However, this location is ideal for exercising your dog as there is a large grassy area and lots of residential sidewalks near the hotel for walking. Also, there are several restaurants nearby that you can walk to for a meal or take out.

La Quinta Inn & Suites, York, PA

La Quinta by Wyndham York

The room with a king sized bed was fine for me and my large breed dog. We had a microwave, large (for a hotel room) refrigerator, coffee maker, hairdryer, complimentary shampoo, conditioner, hand lotion, two bars of soap, ironing board and iron and free brown bag breakfast (small bottle of water, blueberry muffin, raspberry pastry, fruit and nut bar, and small container of fruit cocktail). TV and alarm clock worked well, mattress was comfortable, shower water pressure was very good, and room temperature was easy to control. There were plenty of outlets for charging personal electronics. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel wifi has a password - it was supposed to be on the folder with the key card, but mine was blank. A quick phone call to the reception gave me the code. Two small negatives: the outdoor sign for the La Quinta Inn was not easy to see/find and the lights in the room were low wattage, making reading for a 60+ traveler challenging.

Best Western Plus Inn &Suites

Best Western Plus Crossroads Inn & Suites

Room was very clean with medium-sized refrigerator, microwave, coffee and tea, flatscreen TV and all worked very well. Breakfast was complete: coffee, tea, 4 juices, pancakes, Belgian waffles, french toast, 4 kinds of cold cereal, bagels, danish, oatmeal, grits, 3 kinds of yoghurt, applesauce, fresh fruit with coffee and tea available 24/7 in the lobby. Breakfast was the same every day. There was plenty of seating for breakfast and free copies of two different newspapers. The indoor pool was available, but I did not see anyone using it during Veteran’s Day weekend. I booked this motel as I was traveling with my dog. Although there were pick up bags and trash receptacles available, there was not much grass available for walking your dog right at the motel. I needed to leave the motel property to really walk my large dog.
