Great Location for All
Hampton Inn SalisburyOur pup was treated well and received treats at the front desk on arrival. Overall a safe place to walk our pup, very friendly staff, good breakfast and helpful with our needs. Our go to place for sure when in the area.

Overall Great Choice for the Area
La Quinta by Wyndham Big SpringThis La Quinta is in decent condition with friendly helpful staff. The rooms were clean and the breakfast area well taken care of. There is a Tractor Supply next door and it was a great place to extend our dog walk time.

Great Place for Pets and Pet Owners
Best Western of HopeThe rooms were clean and have been updated. The rooms are typical of the no central corridor motels of the era. Although small they were adequate for our family. The grounds were very nice, landscaped and plenty of room for long dog walks.

Very Nice Rooms Limited Dog Walk Area
Rocket InnThe renovated rooms were very well done, excellent bathroom. The rooms are tight which is to be expected for a motel of that era. This was the only place we stayed with dog bowl, blanket and towels for our pet. One thing that I must say if you're used to a firm bed this is not the place, at least the bed in our room seemed to be from the original owners. As we traveled west the stickers or burrs were becoming more of a problem and this was also the case here. Therer is an alley behind the motel for the pets to relieve themselves, beware though, plenty of stickers and trash.

Overall Great Location and Service
La Quinta by Wyndham CarlsbadThis La Quinta Inn was a gem, for our family and dog. The grounds were spacious, plenty of area to walk our dog and the grass was sticker free. Our room was clean, in great condition, plenty of space for us and our dogs bed. The breakfast area was clean, food great and plenty of breakfast items to choose from. We had a couple of issues with the room, the staff took care of it quickly and the experience makes it a top destination for us in the future.

Good Dog Park for Daytime Pet Fun
Carole Wheeler Dog ParkThe dog park is a good place to let your dog run free, a lot of dirt/sand, thankfully very few stickers/burrs. There is a night time light in one corner that really does little to illuminate the area. We walked over to Ralph Edwards park (a few blocks from the dog park), it was a good night time place to walk our medium sized dog.

Best Southwest Dog Park We Found
City of Carlsbad Dog ParkThis dog park was in great shape, plenty of grass, no stickers/burrs. Huge area with dog exercise equipment. There were a few holes that are to be expected, overall a very nice place even after dark. The lighting was good all over the park.

Quirky Great Place to Bring Fido
International UFO Museum & Research CenterThe museum is one of those places to say you visited. Not much content although there were quite a few articles from the early days. We had a great time taking photos of our dog with all the aliens! The staff was very nice and helped as much as possible.

OK Dog Park Difficult to Find
Woof Bowl Dog ParkDecent size, when we were there the area was fairly clean, a few piles of poop, this is the dog owners responsibility. The area in general has limited grass due to the dry western climate. Good alternative for your pup to run around off their leash, especially when you're on a long road trip. The courthouse at 400 N Main St was a great place to walk fido at night

Clean Rooms, Fair Price, Dog Tolerant
Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott TexarkanaWe were on the road for 12 days headed west and this was one of the best hotels we stayed at. The hotel was in decent shape overall and had good breakfast items. The staff was dog tolerant, not necessarily friendly during our visit, meaning there was no direction concerning designated dog walk areas. We too had to step between the dog poop in the grassy areas. The grassy areas were not really perfect due to their limited area. There were areas to go out further, up the side of the property that next to an RV/Boat dealership, requiring walking/climbing in a drainage culvert area to access it. Ironically as we drove up we noticed that one of the floodlights was flashing like a giant strobe light against the building. As luck would have it, we were in that room for the night. Even with the curtains and shades closed we had a strobe effect for the night. We didn't complain, they were short staffed and did the best they could.

Dated Rooms, No Designated Dog Walk Area
Baymont by Wyndham Big SpringThe staff was nice and helpful. The rooms are large although dated, time for new furnishings. Our room sofa had holes in it and was stained for example. The breakfast area was clean, plenty of choices and the food tasted fine. There was limited area to walk our little dog and every time she went onto the grass she had stickers or burrs in her paws. There was a lot of traffic on the surrounding roads making it difficult to walk your dog and feel safe. We went to Comanche Trail Park to walk and it was not much better, poorly lit and plenty of burrs. By the end of our 12 day trip west our little dog got to the point that she would stop sit down and hold up the paw that had a burr in it.

Clean New Facade Decent Dog Walk Area
Best Western El Rancho PalacioThis old school hotel has all outer corridor entry rooms and in some cases makes them easier to access. The rooms were tight inside, too much furniture in the tight space made it even tighter. All new bathroom fixtures and tile made the tight area feel better, they're too small overall and poorly designed. The parking lot is tight and few people parking heeded their recommendations for compact car parking. The dog walk area was limited but well done with dog waste station. Like most places dog owners leave poop behind which I feel is not the hotel/motels fault. We went down Main street to the Courthouse and it was excellent after dark. Plenty of light and our little dog good a long walk without stickers or burrs. There is also Woof Bowl Dog Park at 1500 N Grand Ave that is decent for fido to play.
