Nice place for dogs

Quality Inn Lone Pine Near Mount Whitney

Overall, very good. Especially if your room is in the back on the ground floor -- there is a door directly out to dog area! It would be nice if they had some doggie bags available and a waste can. Will likely stay here again.

Will probably return

Hilton Garden Inn Reno

Very nice room and nice path to walk dogs (on leash) around the lake. I just wish other dog owners would pick up after their dogs. There were bags available at several stations. We will probably stay here again if we are in the area.

Oldie, but goodie

Best Western Plus Hill House

We have stayed here several times since my last review. I still love this place. My dog and I are very comfortable here and we will continue to stay here. The hotel is older, but they keep it in very good shape (much nicer than the three star hotel we recently stayed in, in another town). This place is not particularly fancy, but I really appreciate the value. Clean, friendly, and comfortable beds.

Major disappointment

Hyatt House Pleasanton

First, the positive. The property was very nice for dog walking, the grounds were nice and many places for my dog to explore. There were doggie waste bags and a disposal site (we've been to dog friendly hotels where those were missing).

We were there Dec. 24 and Dec. 25, and perhaps some of the negatives had to do with it being the holiday. They advertise a very nice breakfast with made-to-order omelets. Not only did they NOT have the omelets, the food they did have was terrible. Pancakes that were cold and flavorless. Biscuits that were hard and gravy that had no flavor. No scrambled eggs or other warm food. At one point, someone put out sausage, and everyone ran up and grabbed it and it was gone in minutes. There was cereal, but no bowls to use for cereal. No fruit in sight.

There was a man working there very hard, trying to keep up with everything. (We felt bad for him.) I had called ahead to make sure they would be serving breakfast that day, and when I was waiting on hold, a recording kept talking about their wonderful breakfasts! I called many hotels ahead of time to find a suite with two attached bedrooms and a complete kitchen, because I was planning to make a small Christmas dinner.

I was delighted to find this suite had a kitchen with oven, stove, microwave, and frig. and dishwasher. I called the hotel to find out how the kitchen was equipped, asked if the kitchen had dishes and serving ware, etc. I was told it did. Well, it had one spoon, three forks, three glasses 4 plates and 4 bowls. No coffee cups-not even styrofoam cups. No pots or pans or baking dishes or even a kitchen wash cloth or pot holders. We did call the front desk, and someone promptly brought us some glasses, silverware, and plates. We ran out to Target on Christmas Eve to buy some things so we could make our meal. What good is an oven and stove if you have absolutely no pans or dishes or pots than can be used with them?

The layout of the suite was very nice, and it would have worked well for our family. Unfortunately the heater/air conditioner was either pumping out heat or freezing cold air. The door to the outside was in need of repair The bottom kick trim was falling off and there was no seal at the bottom of the door. Cold air came in continually and since you could see right outside under the door, we could see everyone as they walked by, which encouraged our dog to bark each time someone passed by. I've never given a review this bad, but I truly was very disappointed. I did give it two bones because the outside was nice and the layout of the room was nice. My dog liked the premises.

Not bad

La Quinta by Wyndham Madera

Not really any big complaints as far as dog compatibility. Not dedicated dog potty area, but I'm not sure that they had any place to put one. No carpeting, which was pet friendly. The room seemed clean, but my husband did not put on shoes immediately after showering (rookie mistake!), and his feet became very dirty very quickly. They may want to pay more attention to floor cleaning. We would stay here again.

Nice hotel

La Quinta by Wyndham Bakersfield North

This was our second stay at this hotel. Its a nice modern, clean place. There were many dog owners staying here with their dogs. There is a designated grassy area for dogs, with potty bags and waste container. We found a couple minor problems, that may not be problems for others. We prefer ground floor rooms and requested it ahead of time, but they were unable to give us one. You can only enter through the main lobby and cannot exit or enter a side door with your dog. Maybe this is for security reasons, but was inconvenient for frequent potty trips. And for us, the noise of the many tractor/trailers that use the adjacent road as a staging area, caused our pup to eventually be too afraid to use the dog area. Probably not a problem for most, and last time we stayed here it wasn't as big an issue. This time, there was a continual stream of trucks coming and going and connecting and disconnecting to trailers. Sign indicates another hotel will be built across the street. Maybe once that happens, the big tractor/trailer rigs will not be allowed to park there.

Good, basic, older hotel, at a fair price.

Vagabond Inn Bishop

This is our second stay at the Vagabond Inn, Bishop. We really like staying here with our dog. It is not fancy, but it is very convenient for traveling with a dog and the owners/staff work to keep the place clean. Room doors open directly to outside and there is a dedicated dog potty area. They have been able to put us on the ground floor, which is nice for dogs. If you are looking for something modern, maybe not for you. It will continue to be our go to hotel in Bishop, when traveling with our dog.

Note to other dog owners: pick up after your dog!! They have potty bags available and disposal cans by dog area. Very unpleasant stepping in something another dog owner failed to pick up. Don't be lazy and give people a reason to complain about our dogs. Of course this is not the fault of the hotel, we see it in every dog friendly hotel :(
