Great stay with a dog
Hampton Inn Duluth Canal ParkEverything about this stay with my dog was great. He was welcomed, the location is perfect (right on the lake), plenty of good spots for potty breaks and walks. Definitely my fave place to stay with a dog on Canal Park.
Maintenance issues
Best Western Bridgeview HotelThe hotel needs some money put into maintenance/upgrades. Start with the plumbing and the room doors. Getting into our room was hit and miss. Not awesome in general but really not awesome with a dog. Toilet barely flushed. Heard many people complain of clogged toilets and no plunger available. Big grassy area for Fido, decent breakfast, clean rooms. Definitely not worth the price they like to charge for weekends, especially when you spend A LOT of time at the front desk trying to get into your room. (Not a key card issue, a handle or framing issue.)
Quiet place
Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Duluth by the MallDespite being a busy weekend, the Inn was very quiet and traffic noise was surprisingly not remarkable. The rooms are nice, decent amount of space. Nice, quiet grassy area by pool for potty breaks. Bring your own sheets and bowls for Fido. One drawback - no elevator and no ability to guarantee a main floor room.
Location is so convenient
The Suites Hotel at Waterfront PlazaBeing on Canal Park is wonderful. Lots to do and see within walking distance. Most businesses are dog friendly, including the liquor store! Multiple patios for a meal with your pup and Hoops allows Fido to come with for a pint. The hotel doesn't provide sheets or bowls for your furry companion, which is a little odd. Traffic and train noise makes late night pee breaks a bit of a challenge at first, but there are enough dogs around that the adjustment is quick and there are quieter spots over by the boardwalk, with poop bag stations & trash cans nearby. Will definitely stay there again, but will remember to bring dog sheets from home.
Pooches and humans well taken care of
East Bay SuitesThe location is fantastic. 30 ft from lakeshore, in the heart of Grand Marais. Good size dog bowls and sheets provided, one less thing to worry about. Plenty of space around condos for exercise and toilet ingredients needs for dogs. Only drawback was the inability of the other weeks end guests to close doors quietly. They are heavy doors and the slamming of them echos throughout. That resulted in barking and anxious dogs, something we could all do without. The front desk is very helpful, there are grocery stores close by(Whole foods 2 doors over), restaurants have reduced hours...watch out for that...definitely try Hungry Hippie Tacos...and Drury bookstore is well stocked and charming. There is a nature trail off the campground at the south end of GM...beautiful and a great spot to get out and play with your dog. This is one of my fave places in Minnesota and East Bay gives you a nice spot with a kitchen and unbeatable views. Waking up to the sun rising over Lake Superior is a must do and watching it set behind the lighthouses will change your life.
