Reviews
Visitors generally enjoy the spacious, clean beach at Honeymoon Island State Park, though the long walk to the dog beach area, mosquitoes, and strict leash requirements can be frustrating for some. Travelers appreciate the dog wash station and overall dog-friendly atmosphere, but note that enforcing the leash rule detracts from the experience for more active dogs.

We got a free pass to honeymoon island with our Airbnb. I read the reviews about the mosquitoes and brought deep woods off. As we got out of the car and started getting our stuff the mosquitoes were already everywhere. We headed down the trail with our dogs and it was AWFUL!! The trail is long and the whole time you are being smothered in mosquitoes! We finally made it to the “beach” if that is what you want to call it and the mosquitoes were so bad. We decided to head straight back to the car. On the way back I had a full blown panic attack the mosquitoes were so bad. I’m not usually someone who suffers from anxiety but it was literal torture.
We ended up driving over to Clearwater north beach and had a good time but all of our stuff and dogs were covered in mosquitoes and they got in the car. I would never ever ever go there again. So sad that the Dog beach is where no person or dog should ever go. - MJun 2, 2024Well behaved dogs and clear waters
By far the best dog beach in the tampa Bay Area. Pay to get in but it’s worth it. Boaters and jet skiers run a muck, but dogs are well behaved. A walk from the parking lot but if that keeps more people away we are ok with that. Have never had a problem with mosquitoes here despite other reviews. Rangers give dog treats when you enters. Our pups favorite place!
- ChrisApr 8, 2024Bring LOTS Of Bug Spray!
While our dogs enjoyed splashing in the water (on leashes) the walk to and from, and any area not directly along the water line, was highly infested with mosquitos. I live near a conservation area in Florida and we have no where near as many. We stopped here on the way back from a camping trip, and even max strength OFF wasn’t working. We have bug spray for the dogs as well that works perfectly at home and while we were camping, even in summer, and the mosquitos were still eating the dogs alive. Such a bummer after driving out of our way to go here for the afternoon. We stayed for about 45 minutes before giving up and sprinting the entire path back to the car.
Positives were there, including a wonderful pavilion with a gift shop, very clean restrooms, and respectful people all around who kept their dogs on a leash. While we didn’t go onto the regular beach because they don’t allow dogs, the sand looked clean and soft, just as it was on the dog beach portion. I may give it another chance without the dogs, but will never bring the dogs back here.
- CassidyFeb 24, 2024Dog Beach was great!
Honeymoon Island State Park was a great location for a day at the beach with June! The path closest to the pavilion is definitely the easiest and most direct. The other path was flooded with nasty water and was a long walk.
Once we got to the beach, we had a wonderful time! I would pack a lunch or some snacks as dogs are not allowed at the cafe or in any other area of the park. - LisaNov 4, 2023Can’t wait to go again!
Beautiful beach! It was the perfect ending to a perfect day! Gets very buggie once the sun goes down, but it was a perfect night and a beautiful place for our pup!
- KarenOct 22, 2023Always a perfect day with my dogs
we have taken our dogs to Honeymoon Dog beach 3 times now and we all love it! it’s a natural not groomed part of the beach but perfect to hang out for the day with my 2 Pugs.
- EmilySep 17, 2023Tons of mosquitoes
My dogs had a blast at this beach. I like that the beach is very spacious. The walk in was very long and we got eaten alive by mosquitoes. I hope it is just the time of year
- AlysiaSep 10, 2023Great Beach but tons of Mosquitoes
We enjoyed this beach very much. It is not an off leash dog beach so dogs must be on a leash unless they know recall very well. The beach was not crowded at all and the water was calm. You can see Caladesi from the beach. Tons of shells. Only down side was the walk to the actual beach. It’s a long path and filled with mosquitoes! Bring bug spray!! I got bitten badly and was bleeding from the bites. The mosquitoes were also all over my dogs!! The dog rinse off station was not working when I tried to use it! There were no mosquitos present once you got to the actual beach area.
- DavinaJul 17, 2023Perfect beach for our dogs
It was not crowded. Everyone kept their dogs on their leashes. Beach was clean and our dogs loved it. Just beware that we ran into a four foot rattlesnake going across the path. We just waited for it to cross and then quickly went on our way.
- YolandaFeb 5, 20232 thumbs and 4 paws up!
absolutely lovely beach! Maple and I had a blast! was not overly busy and there were a lot of friendly dogs and ppl. if your dogs get along then some ppl would ask if they could play together.
The walk was scenic and showed a good amount of Florida’s flora and fauna (we spotted a sea turtle). Keep ur pup on the path though as letting them run free through the brush would be terrible in case they find more animals. sand spurs are a thing but again keep them on the path and ur golden.
the dog wash was a great touch at the end of the day to get the saltwater off and rinse the sand off what seemed like every part of his little body.
we have been there 4 times already this week and we will keep going! worth the $8 park entry fee.
no mosquitoes when we went but we are in dry season (late Jan/early feb)
all in all… 5 big bones of awesome!
- SusaJan 29, 2023Beautiful beach
it was windy when we were there but we did not see any mosquitos. Nice walk to the beach. Plenty of space. Not everyone kept to the leash requirement which was a bit frustrating for our (leashed) girl. Would be nice if you were allowed to have dogs on a longer leash while in the water. Bags for clean- up and dog shower at the parking lot
- JaniceJan 23, 2023Very nice!
We were here in January. Breezy 76 sunny day. A few mosquitos as we walked the path. It was low tide so plenty of beach for all. it was not crowed. took a walk. spent the afternoon. our dog loved it. very nice to have the hose to rinse her off at the end of our trip. worth the $8 admission.
- AngelaDec 21, 2022Nice spot!
nice spot, large beach, soft sand, a lot of room to spread out and play with your pup. only downsides were that the one pathway to the dog beach was flooded so we had to walk way around - there were some mosquitoes biting us - and there were little burrs in the brush area that kept getting stuck in my dogs paws. all in all though, beautiful beach spot, I would go back - I would just take some bug spray and make sure my dog stays out of the brush!
- DianeDec 3, 2022Beware tons of mosquitoes
Arrived around 10am.. got ate alive by mosquitoes. Even if you make it past the mosquitoes the beach is just meh. What does Florida have against dogs on the beaches? Dogs are welcomed in so many places, but the restrict them to the crappiest beach spots.
- EddieSep 20, 2022This park should be closed
I have never experienced so many mosquitoes sucking up my blood at the same time. We paid $8 to go in, once we parked there were hundred of thousands of mosquitoes waiting for us. We walked for like 1 minute and had to run desperately back to the car. Did not even see the “beach”. That was one of the worse experience in my life. We went back to the entrance and they didn’t even give us the money back. The lady there show me a small sign they have hanging by the door saying that the mosquitoes were abundant or something like that. With that amount of mosquitoes they should put a huge sign warning guests or simply close the park.
- DianaSep 20, 2022Don't bother
Took my dog to the dog beach the path is full of sand spurs had to take her to the vet she got so many in her paws. There is barely a beach area on the one side, the other side is such a long walk if your carrying anything you better be ready for a workout. Also the long path tends to flood so your walking through ankle deep mud or pockets of brackish water that's thigh high. Don't bother
- AliMarieJul 2, 2022Disappointed
This used to be the best dog beach in the area. A while back they decided to do some renovations to the dog beach and moved the sand to extend the little peninsula section. Since then the water is gross. It's slimy and full of algae, more like a lake than a beach. It often smells like sewage. It has also allowed more boats to come to the area than before. Just over all disappointing to a local who used to visit often. No longer worth the $8 anymore.
- SarahJun 30, 2022Good Beach
So I personally love Honeymoon but I will say I was a little disappointed with our time at the dog beach. It was high tide and there was literally barely even beach to put our chairs on. Lots of rocks to go over to get in. It was kind of harsh on my dogs paws. But other then that it was a nice visit. Fort De Soto was much better if you don’t mind to drive further
- CammeJun 23, 2022Great beach!!!
We loved both of our trips to this beach! We appreciated the on leash aspect because SOME PEOPLES DOGS 😂. The beach is beautiful and the doggie wash station was extremely useful. Overall extremely happy with our experience here and would go back!
- PippaJun 12, 2022Amazing Dog Beach
We had such a great time here with our dogs. We parked at the second entry point which has a much shorter walk to the beach than the first entry point does. We set up on the beach and the dogs had a blast playing in the gentle surf. The tide went out as we were sitting there, so we got to enjoy the sand bar which is about 50ft off shore. Dogs have to be leashed, which we appreciated. They have a dog wash station at the entry/exit points. Can’t wait to bring our dogs back here!
- JordanApr 16, 2022🤨
Sat in traffic too long just to find out dogs had to be leashed the whole time. If they have to be on a leash the whole time, why not allow them on regular beaches? Other than that, it was a very nice and scenic place with a ton of friendly pups!
- AngelaApr 3, 2022Favorite spot
My dogs are not the best listeners & don’t trust other dogs so it was nice to have everyone leashed. Friendly people & dogs. Dogs loved the options of the more wavy area or the shallow wading area a bit further down.
- LindaJan 15, 2022Why
Why would anyone come here when for 40 more minutes you could be in Fort De Soto. A long hike to get to the water and then dogs have to be on a leash. It was an after thought. They had some swampy area left over and decided to call it a dog beach. unless you live right on the causeway just continue to StPete and Fort DeSoto. This was a real come down after Fort De Soto
- RoxanaOct 12, 2021Beautiful beach
It was an easy access from Clearwater where we stayed; people around were friendly and nice to our barking little dogs...
- JessicaSep 21, 2021Love this beach!
the best one we have found so far! we came late September so it wasnt jammed packed and everyone seemed to keep their dogs on leash whoch is a big thing for me personally. its 8 dollars a car but so worth it! make sure to take the path right next to the buildings to avoid having to walk so far to the dog beach. (there is two entrances you want the second by the water hose station) would definitely recommend 11/10 bones for us!
- BeccaMay 18, 2021Pet beach
Only beach for dogs leashed or unleashed. It’s a sandy walk from the parking area so either carry light or a cart. There is a pet wash area in the parking area. Nice beach and friendly humans!
- MatiasMay 17, 2021My dog loved it
I don't know if it's always so calm, it looked like a lake. My dog loved it. She could walk really far inside the water.
- StephanieMay 2, 2021Great spot, even for my nervous rescue.
Let's start with the walk... Contrary to a lot of the other reviews, the walk isn't bad. At all. There are a few paths to the actual beach if there is some flooding, depending on the season. And yes, there is some dog poop that the rudest, most careless of dog owners left behind, but we're at a busy park and it's going to happen because some people aren't considerate, but you're not hop, skipping, and jumping over piles of poop to get to the beach.
Next, yes, your dog needs to be on a leash. I felt safe and happy for my dogs -- one is a nervous rescue -- while there. If you're dog is good with off-leash commands and you want to them to have some room to move, go in the water -- it's knee height for quite some time -- and drop the leash to play in the water with them or swim them to the sand bar/island for a little bit more freedom. Just keep them under your control and don't be obnoxious.
We arrived at 1 on a Sunday early May, and there was a long line to get into the park that took a solid 20 minutes to get through, but once in, it wasn't overly crowded. Everyone was super friendly, everything was clean, the rangers were nice and just cruised around doing their jobs.
The water was clean and beautiful! The sand is soft, but some areas had rocks and shells, so be careful
of paws and feet. - MonicaFeb 6, 2021Fantastic Time All Around!
The walk was absolutely beautiful- powdery, white sand and a long stretch of shoreline made for a very pleasant walk!
- KimJan 15, 2021Pretty Beach
quiet, not much shade and dogs do need to be on leash, but a great place to chill with the dog, get some sun and watch the waves. no mosquitoes in January.
- SamanthaSep 27, 2020Awesome Place For First Time Beach Goers
we just moved from up north and our babies never seen a beach! well let me tell you how amazing this place is! everyone is on leash so there’s no fear of another dog coming up to yours without permission. you do have to walk a-little to get to the actual beach but once there it’s play time! if you go during high tide you can play in the water there (really no beach) but you can walk thru the water to the beach beach in that case and you’ll have sand and water. overall highly recommend!!!
- StacyJun 22, 2020Disappointed
We drove from Hudson to spend sometime with our dogs. They need to upgrade the entire area. Such a long walk, get bit by mosquitoes, and water has a smell to it. Didn’t go on the separate beach for just humans, but it didn’t look like it had a really long trail with the possibility of snakes. Not good when dogs want to sniff in the weeds. Florida needs to come up with a better dog beach for this side of the state!!!!! A lot of pet owners would appreciate it.
- SanneJun 19, 2020Beautiful Beach
My husband and I took our 5 month old puppy here for two full beach days and loved it. The beach was clean, beautiful, and wide with plenty of space to spread out (a challenge at other nearby beaches). The water was shallow for a long stretch, so we felt super comfortable taking her to swim for the first time. Dogs are required to be leashed, but that made me feel more comfortable because dogs wouldn’t be running up to us uninvited and possibly startling our puppy without introduction. Almost everyone kept to the leash rule from what we observed. Other beach goers were super friendly and our puppy got to meet and play with a lot of dogs and people. There is an $8 entrance fee, but since it’s a state park and so nice, we were happy to pay. There are several dog washing stations and changing rooms/restrooms for humans. There is also a cafe that serves food and alcohol (alcohol has to be consumed on the cafe patio as it is not allowed on the beach). Great beach for both humans and dogs. We will definitely be coming back.
- KristineJun 12, 2020Great beach
We made the trip from Orlando and were pleasantly surprised by our pick. The beach is great. The area that is dog friendly is huge. There’s a lot of room to spread out and have your space and plenty of beach to walk along. Dogs do have to be on leashes but this rule did not bother us at all. They can still walk along the beach and Be in the water. I would classify this as more of a beach for people that dogs can come to also. That was perfect for us. If you’re looking for a dog beach where your super active dog can run freely, probably not the beach you’re looking for. The walk to the beach is a little long if you or your dog is not use to walking a lot. But, we did find out the route you take matters. When we first went out we entered from the side along the road. We had to go back to the truck and that’s when we found another path by the parking lot and the bathrooms. This was a shorter path and easier to walk along. Overall great day and we will visit again.
- TaylorMay 24, 2020Shells, Shells, And More Shells!
This beach is covered with many shells that seemed to hurt my dogs feet. But, other than that, there was plenty of space for everyone and the water was beautiful. There were tons of dogs the day I went!
- MonicaMay 24, 2020Best Dog Beach 🏖
Even though my crazy 😜 dog was barking at all the boats we still had an Excellent time. We brought an umbrella and there was a beautiful breeze......Great place to wash the puppers after the day. Bring lots of water for the doggies.
- MarthaMar 13, 2020Fantastic Dog Beach
We were so happy to go to this beach, in fact, we went twice. The dogs loved it there being off leash. Everyone there was great & considerate.
- BrittanyJan 18, 2020Just perfect
We made sure to walk our 3 dogs early on a Saturday. Not crowded at all, and everyone had control of their pup. The lot was definitely filling up when we left around 10:30AM. Well worth it to us!
- AnnJan 13, 2020Beautiful Sandy Beach Fun To Have Dog Along!
Great location on beautiful ocean beach in FL park. Love sharing walk on beach with our pooch, like we do at home along Lake Michigan. Fun to see parents, kids, and dog setup for a day at beach together. A bit of a hike to get there from parking area. Always appreciate availability of poop stations. Has water available at parking lot.
- GillianNov 29, 2019Not a “dog beach”
So first of all let me say that I was born in Pinellas county and have lived in the area for 20+ years. I have come to Honeymoon probably hundreds of times so when I got a dog I wanted to bring her here to enjoy the beach like a true Florida dog! Unfortunately that’s not possible when she has to be on the leash. My pup was having a great time chasing her ball and frisbee (not bothering anyone or any other dogs) when a ranger came over and told us that she has to be on her leash at all times. We tried to play on the leash and she wouldn’t stop whining because she just wanted to run and be free! I would not recommend anyone with an active dog come here because it’s just not fair to them.
- DanielleJul 27, 2019MOSQUITO CENTRAL!!!!
We never even made it to the beach. It may have been the time of year, or the wet weather we’ve been having but they were swarming us on the path to the beach and the path was under water. BRING BUG SPRAY!
- MackenzieJul 6, 2019Perfect Doggy Spot
Great spot to bring the pup and enjoy the beach! The people were all very friendly too!
Not sure why people think the walk is so bad, I’m sure I’ve walked further to get into Walmart! - JoanJul 6, 2019Great
It’s a nice doggy beach although lots of walking just to get here. The water is shallow perfect for the pups to run around.
- AlexJul 3, 2019Great Dog Beach
My German Shepherds always have the best time at this beach. We 100% respect and are pleased with the leash rule. There are rangers that ride around looking for off-leash dogs and will quickly tell you to “leash” them. For us this means we can relax and enjoy our time rather than being constantly on edge and looking out for other dogs. My dogs do not enjoy unfamiliar dogs running towards them wether they seem friendly or not, which we have encountered at other beaches. They love to fetch in the water and swim to the little island when it’s low tide. They only “downside” I can mention is the long narrow path to get to the beach. I would recommend the park to put fresh water stations on the actual beach instead of just the park entrance. All in all highly recommended dog beach!
- AmberDec 30, 2018Dog leashes are not a bad thing!!!!
My dog has a wonderful time every time I go, regardless of a leash. I actually like the requirement because it prevents any issues from happening. I think people need to be more understanding of the legality regarding leashes. It is not a closed off area like a dog park. I think a bigger issue is the lack of responsibility owners take to clean up after their dog along the trail and on the beach. I still recommend it though as it has a dog wash station and water area and really is a beautiful location for a good price. It is also open pretty much every day of the year!
- JulieMore than a year agogreat dog beach
Brought my 5 yr old rottie here and he absolutely loved it! Only reason for the 4 bones and not 5, dogs need to be leashed. Although many people took their dogs off their leash, I am somewhat of a "rule follower" even though my dog is offleash trained. He would have loved it even more if he wasn't restrained. Also, a bit of a walk from the car, but worth it!!
- LynnAug 22, 2018Leashed dog beach?
Your dog can't run play swim on a leash. I wish Florida was more like the west coast when it comes to being dog friendly.
- ChelseyJun 14, 2018Not really a dog beach...
How are you suppose to enjoy the beach with your dog if they have to be on a leash at all time??? At least when we go to Fort De Soto they can run free and swim without having a leash on! So disappointed about this at honeymoon.
- DebbieApr 4, 2018What's the point??
What's the point of a dog park if they have to be on a leash? And a dog BEACH?? how are they supposed to swim on a leash? leap in the waves on a leash? run and Play and chase a frisbee when they must be on a leash?? There is NO point to this dog area. It's like a normal walk with your dog on a leash. You bring them to places like this so they can run and play and swim! This is really really sad to me....Certainly they can change this policy??
- DawnMore than a year agogreat dog beach
Beautiful beach, very scenic. Yes, it is a long walk, but it was worth it. Our dog loved it. We went on a Sunday morning and it didn’t start getting crowded until noon. We are definitely planning a trip back. Just be careful of the brush along the path, some plants with nasty thorns.
- AlyssaFeb 15, 2018Not exactly dog friendly
This beach really isn’t designed for the dogs to enjoy their time. You must have them on a leash and the leash in your hand or else you will receive an $80 citation per dog. I tested this theory and they were not kidding.
The beach is very nice. But the cost to enter is a little steep at $8 per car.
I’d go there just myself but wouldn’t recommend it for dogs that want to play and run in the water.
- RobbyFeb 10, 2018Leashes enforced
There was a lot of dogs there, and it seemed like a good atmosphere. However, all dogs have to be on a 6 foot or less leash, with you on the other end, at all times. And that rule is enforced. This rule makes it very hard for your dog to play.
- AlisonDec 27, 2017Why is this called a “ dog beach”?
Dogs need to be on leash at all times. No one lace to play and run free. It was very very sad
- ShannonMore than a year agoAwesome dog beach
This Beach was very clean and everyone had their dogs leashed. I would have given it a 5 if I didn’t see so many piles of dog poop on the trail leading from the parking lot to the Beach. They provide bags and trash cans, sick about people ruining the experience for others. Other than ignorant owners not picking up after their huge pets, it was a nice experience!
- JuanitaMore than a year agoGreat beach but prepare to walk!!
I took my 4 month old pitbull and my two kids (5 & 8) there for the first time this weekend. The beach was very clean and not overcrowded at all. However, the trail leading up to the beach was very long and partly submerged in muddy water in several areas. My kids complained the whole way. We also had to walk and carry our bags over thigh deep water at the end just before getting to the beach. Besides that it was a great experience but I will be going to a beach that doesn't have such a long trail next time.
- WendyMore than a year agoGrrreat quiet dog beach
Great dog beach! Some rocks/ shells when first getting into the ocean. Sand on beach and in ocean is soft. Some litter on beach left by the inconsiderate ones, but overall was pretty clean.
Cost to get in is $4-$8 for the state park fee (depending on how many people)
Didn't encounter any crazy bugs or rattlesnakes.. but it is a park, so.... - ChristieMore than a year agoReally!!!!
Great beach to take UR dog! PLEASE pet owners pick up after UR pets. We saw piles and bags of poop left all around. Bags are available as are trash cans to despose of them. Don't ruin it for others! Keep beaches clean so we all can enjoy them together! Thanks!
- JANMore than a year agoHoneymoon Isaland great place to visit
We visited with our Bishon and we had a lovely day. The quickest way to the beach is to park at the main carpark and then take the trail to the left of the cafe/toilet building. A good stretch of beach with plenty of room fer everyone. We took chairs and a picnic but you can sit below the cafe if you want to purchase their food.
- MariaMore than a year agoNice, but beware.
Lots of parking and friendly dogs... You have to walk through a pretty long trail to actually get to the dog beach once parked. I'm pretty sure the is where my puppy picked up fleas. He's on ongoing medication (a must for a Florida dog), but they still seemed to hitch a ride back home with us. There is a rinsing area in the parking lot which is helpful. Had I thought about the fleas, I probably would have taken advantage and washed him with soapy water right then and there.
- CarleyMore than a year agoBest beach ever!
Beautiful beach to bring dogs to. It does cost $8 to get in but it is so worth it. Tons of parking and the dog beach is huge! We went on a Sunday and I expected it to be packed. There were a lot of dogs there but the area is huge so we didn't feel crowded. There was an area to rinse your dogs off before heading home.
- RobertaMore than a year agoPawesome
Lots of Friendly Dogs and People. Nice sandy beach. A short walk from Parking.
- JimMore than a year agoGreat dog beach!!
We have an 8 year old Boxer. Honymoon Island is her favorite spot in the world. She has been going there since she was 2. As soon as we get on the causway she recognizes where she is going. They do inforce the leash requirement, especially on the weekends. That would be the only downside, however during the week we a minimal issues with allowing her to run off leash.
- TracyMore than a year agoBeautiful Beach!!
Love this beach!! Very clean and well maintained. Lots of room to spread out away from people if needed. Best dog beach yet!! Water calm and beautiful!!
- NicoleMore than a year agoParadise with Thorns
I absolutely loved this place! At first we parked in the wrong place so we walked extra! And while we were walking on the grass we had thorns get stuck on our feet which was not fun.. But if you just stay out of the grass everything is delightful, the walk down the trail with our dogs was great and the view of the beach is awesome. All the dogs were will behaved and the owners were super friendly.. It's a big area so you have plenty of space. I came with my kids and they loved it. It was wonderful..
- BritMore than a year agobest dog beach!
Huge beach area to bring your dogs and very clean! Everyone is friendly and so are the pups! Best dog beach I've been to!
- EricaMore than a year agoNice dog beach
We visited in July 2014 and had a great trip. It was a long walk to the beach itself but the beach was nice and not crowded. While you're supposed to keep your dog on a leash, some people had theirs off but the dogs didn't run around.
The sand was white and fairly clean. We liked the beach because you could walk a long ways out before the water even comes up to your waist. So we enjoyed sitting in the water and playing. The beach was long enough that we didn't feel cramped and had fun walking around and exploring.
Along with taking the dog, we also took our 6 month old to the beach for the first time. We liked that no random dogs ran over to us but we could enjoy the time as a family. Baby enjoyed playing in the water and the surf was gentle enough that she could sit on her own at the water's edge. The sand was soft enough (and apparently and interesting enough) that she liked playing in that as well.
When compared to the Fort DeSoto dog beach, we liked this one a bit better because the water is clearer and we were not bombarded by random dogs. After reading some reviews we were skeptical but are very happy we gave it a try.
- CraigMore than a year agoFun time
Brought my yorkie, and it was a beautiful day. Park workers were pleasant and really never seemed to be bothering anyone. Great place to play in the clear, shallow surf for a small dog.
- BrittanyMore than a year agowe had fun
We always have a great time on honeymoon island. The dog beach side does flood but its a beach, you should expect to get wet. We were there today, the dog and the kids had a blast and we weren't bothered by any bugs. Maybe mosquitos in the trails but who are we kidding its Florida! Its worth the parking pass.
- SusanMore than a year agoStopped going
Once upon a time this place was worthy of an annual pass, I would go every weekend. Now prices have been raised and the cost/benefit simply isn't there. This is a great beach ONLY if you are arriving by boat. If you drive you are going to pay $8 to walk (more like wade) through bug infested trails that are flooded. The leash law is STRICTLY enforced. The enforcement is so bad that I felt UN-welcomed, as if they really wished the dog beach didn't exist. Fishing is popular here and I often got the sense that fisherman were inconvenienced by dogs swimming around possibly tangling the lines. It is a CHORE to have fun here.
