Pet Friendly Shell Factory and Nature Center
Shell Factory and Nature Center The Shell Factory Dog Park, known as Doggy Heaven, provides a great place for your four legged friends to spend the day. Since the Shell Factory property is dog friendly (pets not allowed in Cap't Fishbones or Nature Park), Doggy Heaven was a natural addition. Admission is free and the Park is open all day. Doggy Heaven is also home to SunCoast DockDogs and the SW Florida Weiner Dog Club. Upon entrance to the Park you will see a large pool used for Dock Dog jumping events and Dog rehabilitation. The Shell Factory also promotes 'Doggy Church' which is held every Sunday at 9.30 am right at the Dog Park. After Church your dog can enjoy the agility course or cool off in the Doggy Fountain (may be held at Party House dependent on weather). No matter what breed or size, Doggy Heaven provides a great place to spend time with your four legged friend. The trails vary between boardwalk, paved, and natural trails. Dogs are welcome to join you, as long as they are leashed and well-behaved on the trail. Gulfside City Park Gulfside City Park is pet-friendly. One of the many pet-friendly beaches of Sanibel Island, Gulfside City Park is located near a City of Sanibel and Federal nature preserve. The beach is also home to threatened and endangered nesting shorebirds and sea turtles during much of the year. Dogs must be kept on a leash (maximum 8 feet) at all times, and owners are required by law to clean up after their pets. There are picnic tables, wash stations, and restrooms available, and an hourly parking fee is charged between the hours of 7 am to 7 pm (free after 7 pm). See Details

Waggin Tails Dog Park at Rotary Park Rotary Park is adjacent to a wildlife preserve and includes a nature center, with facilities for pet owners, that host multiple programs regarding native plants, native animals, xeroscaping and water conservation. Wagging Tails Dog Park includes an area for small and large dogs, as well as several park benches and shaded areas for owners to socialize while their pets play off leash and interact with other dogs. Dog registration and an annual fee are required to use the city's only dog park. Completed forms and annual dues can be paid in the Rotary Park office from 8 am - 3:30 pm daily. See Details
Causeway Islands This facility, approximately 10-acres, is located on SR/CR 867, consists of the road sides of two spoil islands built and used to link the mainland to Sanibel Island. The causeway bisects San Carlos Bay a short distance from the mouth of the Caloosahatchee River, that allows bay and gulf side access. As you are traveling from the mainland towards Sanibel Island you will pass through a D.O.T. Toll booth (toll is $6 , no fee required for park use) then crossover a "sky" bridge and arrive at the first island, referred to as "Island A". If you continue on, you will crossover another "flat" bridge and arrive at the second island referred to as "Island B". Both islands have been a very popular destination since built and can accessed from the water as well. Some of the activities enjoyed are fishing, wading/swimming (beware of submerged structures), picnicking, canoeing/kayaking, (no launching or retrieval of vessels, this would include both aerial and water type crafts), wind surfing, kite boarding, shelling, sun bathing or just plain relaxing in the shade. Island "A" has parking only. Island "B" offers restrooms, drinking fountains (located on each side of the road) and a few picnic tables on the gulf side. Grilling is permitted, so feel free to bring your own. No ground fires permitted. No alcoholic beverages allowed. Leashed pets welcomed but, please remember to clean up after your pet. See Details

The trail can be accessed by sidewalk or paths at: Six Mile Cypress Slough Parkway, Daniels Parkway, Crystal Drive, and Colonial Boulevard. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
