Pet Friendly Squaw Valley Aerial Tram
The Squaw Valley Aerial Tram, one of Squaw Valley's most popular year-round attractions, is dog-friendly! There is a charge to ride up the mountain but, if you hike up to high camp (elevation 8200 ft) with Fido, the tram will give you both a ride down for free. The best way to hike up is the Shirley Lake Trail. It's a 3-hour hike with a rest stop at the popular dog-friendly swimming hole, Shirley Lake. The restaurant at the top of the tram also welcomes Fido at the outdoor tables.
Pet Friendly Olympic Village
Very pet friendly area. There are water bowls scattered throughout the shopping area and several pet friendly restaurants.
Pet Friendly Shirley Canyon Trail
Branded as one of Lake Tahoe's best half-day hikes, Shirley Canyon Trail is dog-friendly! Dogs and their owners can hike alongside waterfalls, granite boulders, and views of Squaw Valley on this 3.6-mile trek. Shirley Canyon Trail can be difficult to follow, so owners are warned to wear hiking boots. Hikers should be sure to follow this general rule: "keep the creek on your right and follow it up for about 2.5 miles until you come to giant granite rock slabs. You will cross over this section and continue up to Shirley Lake." Information on how to access the trailhead, parking, hiking tips, and where dogs are not allowed in Squaw Valley can be found on its official website. Dogs must be leashed if on the AerialTram; however, owners can use their best judgment when deciding to leash them on the trail.
Pet Friendly Bijou Dog Park
Located within Bijou Community Park, this dog park features off-leash areas for both small and large dogs. It is approximately 38,000 square feet of fun for dogs and their owners alike. A great place for socializing (both people and dogs); the dog park has grass areas, plenty of shade, benches for relaxing, pet sanitary stations, and water.
