Dog-friendly MacLennan Park Trails is located in northwest Topeka, KS, along the hills overlooking the Kansas River. The trailheads and parking lots are found on the south side of the park on 6th Street, west of Fairlawn Road on the north side of the park, and the west side of Governor’s Mansion. Decked out in her gingham dress and ruby slippers, Dorothy herself will give you and Fido a tour of the replica Gale farmhouse. Explore unique memorabilia from the movie before traveling somewhere over the rainbow to the Land of Oz, an animated exhibition where you can meet the Munchkins, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion, and the Wizard himself. Perry State Park in Ozawkie is one of Kansas' hidden gems. This pet-friendly park boasts 25-miles of varied trails that lead through upland forest around the 11,000 acres of Perry Reservoir. Due to the 1,000 acres of marshes around the lake, the wildlife is abundant and interesting. Fido is allowed to join you on a leash under ten feet on the wooded trails around the lake, but owners are reminded to keep the waterways clean by picking up after their pups.
