Pet Friendly Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanic Gardens
Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanic Gardens Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanic Gardens is pet-friendly. Bring your leashed pooch for a walk on this small local walking path with access to the Cal Sag Bike Path. Dog walking is allowed provided dogs are on a leash no longer than 10 feet. Dog owners are reminded to clean up any mess that is left behind. All other pets are prohibited anywhere on the grounds. Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanic Gardens is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturday from 10am to 4pm. See Details
Little Grand Canyon Trail Leashed pups are welcome at Little Grand Canyon Trail, a pet-friendly hike in Pomona, IL. Located within the Shawnee National Forest, this 3-mile trail can be hiked fully or explored in shorter sections that lead to scenic overlooks. Fullersburg Woods Fullersburg Woods is a Du Page County Forest Preserve with miles of multipurpose trails open to bicyclers, horseback riders, cross-country skiers, hikers and dog walkers in Oak Brook, IL. There is a section where dogs are not permitted because it is home to a lot of wildlife (signs are posted). You are expected to leash your dog, pick up after him, and keep him from swimming in Salt Creek. There are some water fountains, but you will want to bring your own water bowl for Fido. See Details

Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area Dogs are welcome at Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area in Morris, IL, where you can experience a taste of the past among the scenic prairie surroundings. The area is described as still looking like it did 160 years ago, covered in tall prairie grasses and flowering plants. You can bring Fido with you on one of the many trails. There are seven miles of pet-friendly trails to choose from, including the Tall Grass Nature Trail and Prairie View Trail, stretching for 3.5 miles through farm and marshland. See Details

Weldon Springs State Park Leashed dogs can join you at Weldon Springs State Park, a 550-acre pet-friendly park in Clinton, IL. The spring-fed lake with two miles of shoreline is the main attraction at this park, and it can be enjoyed from the Lakeside Self-Guiding Interpretive Trail that circles the banks of the lake. Garden of the Gods Recreation Area Dog-friendly Garden of the Gods Recreation Area in Herod, IL, features 320-million-years old formations that are made of sandstone. Pets must be on leash while visiting any area in the Shawnee National Forest. The Observation Trail is a .25 mile long interpretive trail that allows you to encounter many unique rock formations, as well as the beautiful view of the Shawnee Hills. If you plan on spending more time in the area, there is great access to the River-to-River Trail from the Garden of the Gods Recreation Area. See Details
