A Weekend in Dog-Friendly Naples

Spend a weekend with your dog exploring one of the Gulf Coast’s most pet-friendly treasures, Naples, Florida. Fill your weekend with excursions on the water, meals next to the bay, luxurious shopping, local brews and relaxation at a comfortable and upscale hotel with your furry friend. We’ve done all the planning for you, so all you have to do is book your travel plans and pack Fido’s bags!

Friday

4 p.m. Naples Bay Resort & Marina

When you check in to your pet-friendly suite at Naples Bay Resort & Marina, Fido will be greeted with organic treats and given food and water bowls to use during his stay. There’s also a small grassy area designated for pet relief. Hotel guests have access to all the amenities at members-only The Naples Bay Club including five swimming pools, a lazy river, a spa, two restaurants, a tennis center, a fitness center, and TopGolf Virtual Golf SwingSuite. The Naples Bay Resort is the “ulti-mutt” dog-friendly waterfront retreat with breathtaking views of the Gulf of Mexico and a location close to all that The Paradise Coast offers.

5 p.m. Naples Dog Park

After being cooped up traveling, let your dog have some off-leash fun at Naples Dog Park. The park is near Naples Bay Resort & Marina and boasts 2.5 acres of green space with separate off-leash areas for large and small dogs, benches, water fountains for both dogs and humans, a shaded area and waste stations.

7 p.m. The Dock at Crayton Cove

For dinner, The Dock at Crayton Cove serves seafood, salads, sandwiches, steaks, and pasta. This waterfront restaurant invites pets and their owners to sit outside on the covered patio overlooking the Gordon River. The Dock even offers special yappy hours during the summer to encourage people to bring their pets. The Dock is a walk-in-only restaurant and seats guests on a first-come, first-served basis, so be prepared for a short wait for a table on the deck.

9 p.m. Jeremiah’s Italian Ice

You can’t go on a Florida vacation and not get ice cream! End the evening with tasty frozen treats at Jeremiah’s Italian Ice. While you enjoy your Italian ice, gelato, or soft-serve ice cream, Fido can devour a complimentary pup cup. There are benches and a couple of tables outside where you can savor your dessert together.

7 a.m. Jane’s Cafe

Break the fast at Jane’s Cafe, a Naples morning hot spot where pups are welcome at any of the outdoor tables in the open-air restaurant. Jane's Cafe serves its award-winning breakfast all day, which features weekend specials, Nutella crepes, quiche, a variety of omelets and eggs Benedicts, and healthy and low-carb options like salmon and eggs. Wash it all down with one of Jane’s freshly squeezed juices, espresso drinks or breakfast cocktails. Order Fido a side of bacon to make his tail wag!

9 a.m. Paddle Marco

For a fun morning in the sun and out on the water, book the dog-friendly Mangrove Tunnels Kayak Tour with Paddle Marco, a biologist-led kayak and paddleboard tour within Rookery Bay on Marco Island. You and your water dog will explore the beautiful mangrove tunnels of Marco Island while looking for conch shells and wildlife like tree crabs, osprey, herons, dolphins and more. Your knowledgeable guide will teach you all about the mangrove trees, the history of Marco Island and the area’s wildlife. Free HD photos of your excursion will be available at the end of the tour. Just bring a life jacket for your pup!

12 p.m. Tacos & Tequila Cantina

After you’ve worked up a big appetite, make your way to Tacos & Tequila Cantina, a popular Tex-Mex restaurant with a festive atmosphere and a pet-friendly patio. Whet your whistle with an ice-cold cerveza, refreshing margarita, or soft drink while your pup enjoys a bowl of water. Start off with chips and salsa and then dig into a variety of specialty tacos, nachos, quesadillas, fajitas, and burritos. Save room for the churros with chocolate espresso sauce or fried ice cream.

1 p.m. Waterside Shops

Spend the afternoon getting some “re-tail” therapy with Fido at Waterside Shops, a pet-friendly upscale outdoor shopping center. Visitors can explore a curated selection of luxury boutiques and other retail stores with their leashed dogs. Be mindful that not all stores permit pets inside, so just pop your head in and ask before entering.

4 p.m. Kunjani Craft Coffee & Gallery

Re-energize with an afternoon coffee fix with your canine at Kunjani Craft Coffee & Gallery. This casual coffee shop and art gallery is a cozy gathering spot that welcomes dogs and their owners in the outdoor courtyard seating area. Choose a drink from the eclectic menu which features organic juices, coffee and tea drinks. If you’re in need of a little snack, cakes, cookies and baked goods are also available. Afterward, enjoy some downtime back at the hotel.

6 p.m. Spanky’s Speakeasy

Locals and visitors alike laud Spanky’s Speakeasy, a Naples landmark that has been in business since 1984. Sit on the heated, pup-friendly patio for dinner. The menu features steaks, prime rib, chicken dishes, and local seafood all served with Spanky’s soup and salad bar that’s uniquely located inside a 1924 Model T truck. Burgers, ribs and sandwiches round out the menu and hot dogs are available on the kid’s menu if you want to order your fur-kid his own meal.

8 p.m. Riptide Brewing Company

Spend the evening sampling some local Southwest Florida brews at Riptide Brewing Company which serves a wide variety of beers. Try the Seafoam Haze NEIPA or one of the brewery’s one-off collaboration beers on special as a nightcap. Dogs are welcome inside and out and the backyard has plenty of space where dogs can roam.

8 a.m. Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii

Start the morning with a light bite and cuppa joe at Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, located in downtown Naples. This dog-friendly coffee shop sells pastries, breakfast sandwiches and specialty coffee drinks. Get your breakfast to-go or eat it on the patio. Best of all, Fido will get a little dog treat, too!

11 a.m. Lake Park Diner

Eat brunch with your pup on the large covered patio at Lake Park Diner. Fuel the rest of your day with no guilt because the restaurant uses only the freshest, highest-quality ingredients in all of its dishes. Popular weekend brunch menu items include the smoked salmon scramble, the buttermilk chicken biscuit and avocado toast. Pair your meal with a bloody mary or mimosa. Order Fido the kid’s scramble with bacon and fruit for one last vacation treat.

1 p.m. Paws Pet Boutique and Depart Naples With a Dog-Tired Fido

Owners of pampered pooches will want to check out Paws Pet Boutique, downtown Naples’ pet boutique that has been open since 1999. Peruse through an impeccable selection of pet clothing, dog treats, bath products, and designer pet collars and leashes to find the “pawfect” souvenir before departing dog-friendly Naples with a tired Fido.
