1. Christmas Cabin
Once upon a time, there was a rustic retreat that celebrated the holidays all year long. One of Josselyn’s Getaway Log Cabins in Jefferson, NH, the Christmas Cabin is decorated with yuletide spirit. The rental also has a private balcony and log railings for you and your pooch to watch Santa take off in his sleigh after delivering his gifts (or lumps of coal). During the day, try something new at Muddy Paw Sled Dog Kennel. You can take part in a variety of snowy activities including dog sledding, skijoring, bike-joring and scooter-joring, and receive training from “bone-ified” Iditarod veterans.
The Christmas Cabin accepts pets for an additional fee of $25 per pet, per stay. Nightly rates start at $235.
2. A Fairy-tale Gingerbread House
Play the roles of Hansel and Grrrretal with a stay at A Fairy-tale Gingerbread House at Isis Oasis Retreat Center in Sonoma Wine Country. This unique cob hut has thick walls to keep occupants warm in winter, and tree branches that wrap around it to transport you to a fairytale forest land of mystery. Twinkling LED lights and a stained glass window complete the scene. Wander around the 9-acre property with your dog, explore the community garden, and meditate at any of the numerous shrines and altars throughout the property. The center is also home to many rescue animals, including exotic birds, reptiles and cats, so keep Fido on a leash during your stay.
A Fairy-tale Gingerbread House welcomes pets for no additional fee. Nightly rates start at $89.
3. The Ranch at Rock Creek
Travel to frontier times in the Montana backcountry at The Ranch at Rock Creek. This luxury, all-inclusive and pet-friendly ranch is decorated with trees sourced from the property. During the holidays, pups can enjoy hikes on the endless trails, go doggy-paddling in the river and even join a paint-and-sip Christmas ornament decorating class with the artist in residence.
The Ranch at Rock Creek accepts pets for an additional fee of $50 per pet, per night. Nightly rates start at $1,800.
4. The Christmas Cabin
The second Christmas Cabin on our list is designed to be enjoyed during the winter months. The interior of this unique rental is decorated with stockings, twinkling lights and Christmas trinkets throughout. When a blanket of snow falls outside, warm your paws by the authentic brick fireplace. Located just a mile-and-a-half from Lake Arrowhead Village, CA, this cabin is surrounded by inviting woodlands to explore on a crisp morning walk with your pooch. Visitors are reminded that Marissa, a sociable calico cat, is another regular guest in the cabin.
The Christmas Cabin allows pets for an additional fee of $25 per pet, per stay. Nightly rates start at $124.
5. Boyd Mountain Cabins
Smaller dogs can spend their vacation surrounded by yuletide celebration at a working Christmas tree farm in North Carolina. The story of Boyd Mountain Cabins began over a century ago when the Boyd family first started growing Christmas trees for the people of Waynesville. Located between the Great Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountains, Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm produces quality trees to this day and welcomes dogs to help sniff out the finest fir for their owners. In 1989, a storage building was converted into an authentic log cabin for guests to stay overnight. There are now seven different vacation rentals on the property, all of which are happy to host your hound.
Boyd Mountain Cabins accepts pets for an additional fee of $20 per pet, per night. Nightly rates start at $180.
6. The Christmas Cabin
The third and final Christmas Cabin on our list is also located on a working Christmas tree farm; however, this one is unavailable during the choose and cut season from November 1 through December 31. Nestled in the middle of thousands of Christmas trees, this rural getaway is perfect for Christmas addicts to get their fix long after Santa has returned to his workshop. The surrounding area is an inviting setting for country strolls, but don’t forget to pick up after your pooch. Christmas in July, anyone?
Pets are welcome for no additional fee at The Christmas Cabin. Nightly rates start at $110.
7. Leavenworth Tiny House Village
Find holiday lights and snuggly vibes at Leavenworth Tiny House Village around Christmastime. Leavenworth’s Bavarian theme spills over into the design of the five tiny homes in this unique village, although only the bold and beautiful Otto Tiny House accepts pets. At a whopping 287 square feet, this carefully crafted cabin is big enough to sleep 4-5 humans (or roughly 10 elves). When the lights in the village shine merry and bright and the snow covers the ground, Fido will be transported to the North Pole. Learn more about downsizing with your dog in this interview.
Otto Tiny House allows pets for an additional fee of $10 per night. Nightly rates start at $149.
8. Holiday Acres
Lone Star and Bluebonnet are cozy tiny homes located on the banks of a pond at a picturesque Christmas tree farm called Holiday Acres. You and your travel buddy can enjoy morning walks through the Christmas tree fields or take a day trip to Houston for seasonal pet-friendly events like Pawlidays at Houston Humane Society or the BYOD Houston Ugly Christmas Sweater Party. In the evenings, relax with your furry elf and a warm cup of cocoa on the porch overlooking the water. It all makes for a unique getaway to brag about in your Christmas cards.
Holiday Acres permits 2 dogs for an additional fee of $12 per stay. Nightly rates start at $55.
