Paws in the Pool Yakima's Franklin Pool will celebrate its last day with the 6th Annual Paws in the Pool event on Sunday, August 26. Pet owners can bring their dogs to the pool, and let them run around and swim for a few hours.

The Humane Society of Central Washington will also be there to collect donations. Volunteers say it's a great use of the pool's last day.

"It's a special sort of event, it's novel. It's not every day that multiple people get to take their dogs to a public swimming pool and go for a swim, so I think it'll be a lot of fun," says Maddie Wooten with the Humane Society.

Tickets are $3.75 for adults, $2.00 for kids and $2.25 for seniors. You can also buy a family pass for $10.00.

Fun Swim Swimming is a fantastic form of exercise for dogs, good for both weight loss and cardiovascular fitness. It’s also a wonderful treatment for animal depression, anxiety, and dog behavioral disorders related to anxiety since it raises your dog’s serotonin levels. How’s that for motivation? Swimming is also a great form of group play. Even dogs who aren’t natural “water dogs” can learn to love the water at Two Hands Four Paws. Our Fun Swims are populated with labs, goldens, pointers, French bulldogs, shepherds, whippets, border collies, poodles, terriers and an amazing shepherd/corgi mix. You name a breed of dog, and if it can fetch a toy, you’ll probably see it at one of our Fun Swims.

Geared towards active dogs that can catch a ball or toy, and have deep or open water swim experience, Fun Swims take place the first and third Sundays of each month from 12:00 to 2:00 in half hour increments and every Wednesday evening from 5:00 - 8:00pm.

Only four dogs are allowed in the pool at a time so call us today at 310-475-8555 to book your Fun Swim session. Trust us, your dog will thank you (once he/she wakes up from the nap of a lifetime).

*Signed form by your veterinarian is required to participate. We'll fax the form over to your vet. You will also need an evaluation to determine the group your pup will swim best with.
