So-so

La Quinta by Wyndham Twin Falls

You gotta hand it to La Quinta, they love dogs. And the newer ones are excellent, down to the vinyl floors instead of icky carpet. This LaQuinta is not a newer one. The staff were great, even when I had to inform them at 2300 that the heat wasn't working in the room. They offered to move me but I elected for a couple of blankets and my furbaby's warmth. The place is simply worn out - the mattress was soft and like a trampoline. Every time my dog moved I felt I was bouncing all over. The pillows were lumpy and small, the carpet was rippled in the middle...I suspect financial margins are thin in the hotel trade, but this one needs a serious refresh or it will lose business.

Pleasant stay

Pines Inn & Suites

Stayed with my pup and a friend, opting for 2 rooms in cute Cottonwood instead of pricey Sedona. The motel is an older building (2 buildings) and the rooms were large and clean. They both had a dated kitchenette as well as a rather dark dated bathroom. Beds were comfy but rooms were somewhat noisy when another guest started yelling outside at 0100. There is no one in the office/on the premises from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. so the only option is to call the police, which we did not think was necessary. Cleaners were on the job singing and talking loudly at about 0800 which would have been bad for those wanting to sleep in!

Clean and friendly

Wingate by Wyndham Cedar City

The staff were wonderfully welcoming to me and my pup, very nice after a long day on the road. The room was a good size, clean. The rate was inexpensive. There is no grass and not even a separate area for pets to do their business. You end up walking along the rocks on the edge of the parking lot. (No dog park in town either - it's a small town). Pets are placed on the second floor, no biggie except there is NO elevator. Nothing like juggling luggage and a dog up the outside stairs (rooms all open to the outside). Staff was very willing to give me a hand, but the stairs were a disappointment. It's an older building, noisy. The friendly staff and cleanliness and low cost almost make up for stairs, but that feeling might change after taking the dog out to the rocks during the night.

Nice little place, good food

Colt 804 Grill

Their outside space is covered, giving it a warm cozy vibe. It was my pups first time eating out and he was a little overwhelmed but guests and wait staff alike were very friendly to him, calmed him down. The food was great, highly recommend!

Great Dog Park

Hondo Dog Park

One of the few (if not the only) dog parks in Portland to have a separate small dog area. Small dog owners are attentive to their pups and I haven’t encountered any aggressive dogs there. Love it!

Only part open to dogs

The Grotto

The Grotto is beautiful, lush and well taken care of. Worth a visit. However, it’s split into an upper and lower parts and leashed dogs are only allowed in the lower part, which isn’t that extensive. Too bad as the upper is beautiful.

Lots of room

Chimney Park

The setting is lovely, plenty of trees and grass. There is no separate space for small dogs which is needed. Although dog owners are attentive to their dogs, my small dog is overwhelmed by having multiple large dogs run up to ‘greet’ him and gets very afraid. It’s close to home but I now go a distance to a park with a separate small dog area.
