You get what you pay for
Red Roof Inn FultonProperty dingy, room clean but many mothers would demand a do-over for a bed made the way I found it. No TP holder in bathroom(!)--caused untethered roll to fall in sink that didn't drain by default.

Mixed review
Red Roof Inn Detroit-Rochester Hills/Auburn HillsThe room was in the best condition of any Red Roof Inn I've stayed in on this trip, but I gouged my leg twice, once to the point of drawing blood, by 2 metal things sticking out of either sides of the bed frame, suggesting the frame was built for a larger mattress. The metal things were a safety hazard. And I left l a note to that effect. The woman who checked me in was kind, although she initially assigned me to a room that was occupied. But the young man in the morning was surly about giving change and then made a snippy remark of a mark about my dog.

Nice room, iffy neighborhood
Motel 6 Louisville KY - Airport - Fair ExpoAs with other Motel 6's I stayed at on this trip, the room was in very good condition and a good bargain. But to walk around the neighborhood, as one does with a dog, left me a little uncomfortable.

Red Roof Inn Kalamazoo West - Western Michigan UNo trash can, 1 large towel doubling as bath mat, rug around bed stunk, no tissues or minor amenities. Bare bones accommodation.

Not good for people or dogs
Americas Best Value Inn & Suites St CloudI would not recommend this location to anyone. I didn't entirely feel safe and I only discovered the next morning where there was a place for the dog to exercise enough to relieve his bowels. This is a run-down property in a run-down area and I was put on the second floor with no elevator. The dog was intimidated by the stairs. Plus I've never been in a nonsmoking facility that smelled that much like cigarette smoke. I had to wash the smell out of my covid mask.

Convenient location, clean room
Motel 6 Headingley MB - Winnipeg WestThis was a nice room in a convenient location with the basic amenities I used to expect before covid like continental breakfast soap and shampoo as well as refrigerator, microwave, etc. It was a nice relief from some of the other places I'd stayed at a reasonable price.

Sandman Hotels & Suites Calgary WestThere is a pet fee, but otherwise this was a very nice place to stay, and it felt like my dog was welcome and not just tolerated.

Comfort and canine acceptance at a reasonable price
Guesthouse Inn BellinghamOf several places that I stayed in the course of a week, this was the best and not much more expensive than many with fewer accessories for both me and my dog. The dog appreciated that there was carpet in the room. A lot of places provide only hardwood floors for dogs but my dog likes to have carpet underneath his paws. I appreciate it a nice clean room with refrigerator microwave all that good stuff that I hadn't found in similarly priced accommodations just a few days before. It's a nice area to and the guest house is just off the interstate. Circumstances had permitted I would have stayed another night, and I consider going back the next time I am in the northwest.
