There is a wonderful expanse of gardens here made by Rutgers University, as well as tons of hiking trails along the Raritan River. Trails are well maintained and easy to walk on. The gardens are well manicured and have lots of places to sit and enjoy. Pets must be on a secure leash at all times.

Bicentennial Park

A nice little park on a 7 mile long lake. There are hiking trails in the woods along the lake with many places to sit and enjoy. There are lots of fish in the lake, and it is a popular place to fish. The lake allows non-motorized boats, so it's also a great place to kayak with you dog. You can stop at many enclaves to give you and the dog a rest. The community park has a paved path for the disabled, as well as picnic areas with grills, a soccer field, and tennis courts. Dogs must be leashed within the park.

Wildwood Crest Bike Bath

Cyclists can enjoy a FREE scenic bike route that runs nearly the entire length of the 5-mile island, beginning at Rambler Road in Wildwood Crest. The beach side bicycle path runs north, continuing on the world famous Wildwoods Boardwalk at Cresse Avenue via the bike ramp connector. The Boardwalk stretches 2.5 miles north to a connecting ramp between 15th and 16th Avenues in North Wildwood. From there, cyclists can continue along a path on the beach through the Mulberry Grove to 3rd Avenue and the Sea Wall in North Wildwood. A special ?bikes only? lane is also dedicated throughout the length of North Wildwood, from 1st to 26th Avenues along Surf Avenue and on the North Wildwood Sea Wall. Bicycles are allowed on the Boardwalk from 5 a.m. until 11 a.m. only during weekdays and until 10:30 a.m. on weekends and holidays.

Double Trouble State Park

The Double Trouble Historic District has a self-guided, marked 1.5-mile loop nature trail and several miles of unmarked paths along sand service roads. Nature trail guides are available at the trailhead next to the cranberry packing house and at the park information building. Double Trouble Village is an active cranberry farm. Visitors are asked to use caution around the bogs and reservoirs. Vehicles are not permitted beyond the parking area except for canoe access at the White Bridge. Horseback riding & mountain biking are permitted on existing sand roads only; mountain bikers and geocachers are asked to refrain from creating rogue trails. No ATVs or motorized vehicles. Pets must be on a leash (6 feet or less in length) at all times and owners must clean up after their pets. Warning! Ticks may be present year round. It is advisable to take precautions and check yourself closely for ticks after visiting the park.

Sunrise Mountain

The parking lot at Sunrise Mountain is closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Overnight parking is not permitted at this parking lot. The crest of Sunrise Mountain is one of the most frequently visited sites in Stokes State Forest. The mountaintop provides a breathtaking view at an elevation of 1,653 feet above sea level. The thin soil and harsh climate characteristic of Sunrise Mountain is a difficult environment in which few plants can survive. Mountain laurel, wild blueberry, pitch pine and scrub oak are among the natural vegetation found throughout the area. The pavilion at the summit was built in the late 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The Appalachian Trail runs along the ridge.

Your puppy may take issue with the bridges but with gentle encouragement and patience they can be crossed.
