8th Ave Dog Beach

From October 1st through May 15th, dogs are allowed on the Boardwalk and on the 8th Avenue Dog Beach all day. During the summer, dogs are welcome between the hours of 6pm - 8:30am. For your safety and pleasure, ONLY licensed non-aggressive dogs with adult supervision are permitted on the Dog Beach.

Sandy Hook/Gateway National Park

Ocean-side beaches at Sandy Hook Unit from March 15 through Labor Day (piping plover season). Pets ARE permitted on bay-side beaches at Plum Island and Horseshoe Cove throughout the year, but must always be on a leash. *Must carry out all trash, make preparations for carrying out dog waste.

Somers Point Dog Park

Somers Point Dog Park and Longport Dog Beach is an off-leash dog beach and park, open year-round, where dogs of all sizes can play in the sand and water. Located at the base of the Ocean Drive Bridge on the Longport side across from the fishing pier. Owners must bring your own water and waste disposal items.

Sunset Beach

Paw prints can be found in the sand from leashed dogs at Sunset Beach from mid-September through mid-April. If you get hungry, The Grille has several dog friendly outdoor tables. Dogs are welcome at Sunset Beach Gifts which is open daily and sells souvenirs, books, and collectibles. Sunset Beach is also famous for the concrete ship of SS Atlantus which has been "grounded" at Cape May Point since 1926. End your day with the flag ceremony which is held nightly from May through September.

Fisherman's Cove Conservation Area

Fisherman's Cove Conservation Area is the last undeveloped tract on the Manasquan Inlet. The 55-acre site is a great place to fish, walk on the beach, or go sunbathing. Dogs are welcome at Eastern section of the beach, but they must be leashed at all times to preserve the delicate coastal habitat. The Western section of the beach has been designated "dog free."

Sandy Hook

This lovely beach is a great place for a daytrip, and pets are allowed on-leash on the bay side all year round.

Island Beach State Park

Dogs are permitted in the park but must be kept on a leash that is a maximum length of six feet. They are not allowed on the swimming beach (the lifeguard area) during the summer season or on the Spizzle Creek Bird Blind Trail at any time. It is a good idea to check your dog for ticks after you take them on any of the other trails. Also do not leave your dog, or any other pet, unattended in the car during warm weather.

Poplar Avenue Beach

The Poplar Avenue beach in Wildwood became an official Dog Beach in June 2014. You can walk your dog over the boardwalk here to get to the beach. It is a block wide with plenty of room for you and your pooch to soak up the sun and take a dip. Dogs must be leashed. Open daily year round.

Bay Head Beach

Dogs are welcome to join you as you enjoy this beautiful beach, except in summer when they are restricted.

Barnegat Light Beaches

Barnegat Light allows dogs on their beaches from Oct. 1 - thru April 15. All dogs on Barnegat Light beaches must be on a leash. Long Beach Island has a general dog rule that dogs are not allowed May 1 until October 1.

Brigantine North End Beach

Leashed dogs are allowed on the city-owned north end of Brigantine Beach year-round. They are only permitted in the Natural Area from September 16th to March 31.

Stone Harbor Beach

The Stone Harbor Beach on 122nd has free parking and free beach. Dog hours between 7pm and sunset during peak season out all day in off season.

North Wildwood Dog Beach

This is a fenced in area on the beach in North Wildwood. Open year round.

Brant Beach

Leashed dogs are only allowed on Brant Beach between the months of October through March. No dogs are allowed April 1 - October 1. Call (609) 361-1000 for more information about the dogs on beach policy.
