When date night calls for an elevated dining experience, or you’re looking for a posh restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, don’t think you have to leave Fido behind. Furry family members deserve 5-star treatment, too. These upscale establishments welcome canines with refined palettes to relish delectable dishes and elegant ambiance with their humans.

Vic’s on the River

For high-end, Southern hospitality, visit Vic’s on the River in downtown Savannah. The pet-friendly patio is nestled under a canopy of centuries-old live oaks where you are invited to dine on sophisticated traditional cuisine from the region. Fresh local menu items include calamari, pan-seared salmon, filet mignon, and sides like smoked cheddar cheese grits and collard greens. Classy canines will be treated to a bowl of water and treats while you eat. For dessert, order something from Vic’s Coffee Bar, including boozy beverages like a Rum Chai or a Guinness Float.

After dinner, walk along the Savannah Riverfront to your room at Olde Harbour Inn, where Fido will be greeted with a welcome bag of organic treats, waste bags and tennis balls.

Prefer dining with a view? Check out Dorn's Original Breakers Cafe in Morro Bay. Fido is welcome to join you at an outdoor table overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Morro Rock. The dinner menu focuses on seafood options like calamari steak and linguine and clams, but New York steak, chicken marsala and a variety of salads are available, too. Dogs are encouraged at this fine dining restaurant with a laid-back atmosphere. In addition to a vast selection of wines, the menu includes made-to-order items such as chargrilled skewers, thin-crust pizzas and entrées like Scottish Salmon, Poulet En Croute and Chicken Piccata. You may be treated to live music while you dine, and the chef might even send a tasty treat out for well-behaved pups.

You won’t have far to walk when you stay with your pooch at The Hotel Alex Johnson, situated within the same block as Wine Cellar Restaurant & Wine Bar.

Located in historic downtown Salem, Rockafellas calls itself a “premier casual restaurant.” Bring your furry foodie to a shaded umbrella table on the brick patio where she can order her own Bow Wow Beef or Canine Chicken Patty from the dog menu. The award-winning menu for humans includes black Angus beef, fresh seafood and gourmet flatbreads. In addition to a full-service bar, the restaurant features a variety of beer and wine to complement each entrée.

Stroll the quaint streets on the way back to your room at the Salem Inn. Fido can curl up in his own cozy bed and enjoy complimentary dog biscuits for dessert.

When you’re planning your next doggie date night, add Three Rivers Grill to the itinerary. From the outdoor patio, you and your pooch will enjoy fresh mountain air and gorgeous views of the Columbia River while dining on Pacific Northwest cuisine. Humans will be just as excited to try items created by a team of culinary and wine professionals including Wagyu Ribeye, Dry-Aged Duck Breast and Mero Bass. The inviting outdoor patio known as The Nest features sectional couches, Adirondack chairs, plush throws, area rugs and firepits for a cozy yet elegant dining experience.

Angele Restaurant & Bar

Wine and dine yourself and your pup at Angele Restaurant & Bar in Napa. With the warm hospitality of the French countryside, this intimate restaurant patio overlooks the Napa River and welcomes “pawtrons” for lunch or dinner. The simple, yet upscale menu includes French cuisine like escargot, risotto, house-made tagliattelle and more. Guests with pets are asked to call ahead for preferred seating.

When in wine country, pick up a bottle to go before returning to your room at Archer Hotel Napa. Pups will be greeted with a bed and treats to enjoy during their stay.
