Lots of nice dogs & travelers

Recommended by BringFido, it was a perfect stop before the last leg of a trip home to the Finger Lakes. Great people who were regulars. Big field for our dog out back. Rooms were comfortable and quiet and parking at the door was great. Breakfast at the restaurant was good. Highly recommend for those traveling with pets.

    Reasonable rooms sat empty

The Inn only advertises a subset of their rooms to BringFido. Because of that we got booked into the suite at a 50% surcharge. When we arrived we found the rooms that we normally stay in were empty. We also prefer the other rooms to the suite. They were unapologetic and not willing to make any adjustments. I think we're going to look for another venue for our future trips through the area. Rooms are clean and there's a reasonable place for pets out back. Nice place, not so great management.

    Close to The Mountains

The price was super affordable, and the field behind the property was large enough to let my 2 Vizslas’ run around after a long car ride. We explored the mountains the following day only 15 miles from the Inn.

    Great Location

Nice safe location, easy on/off Interstate 81. Rooms are clean, nicely furnished and quiet. My wife and I like that you can back your vehicle close to your room door without having to enter through hallways. We stayed there on our way to PA and stayed there again on our way home. We plan to do the same the next time we visit up north.

    Fabulous find!

This was our first stop on our cross country trip and it definitely made it difficult for the other hotels to compete with. It suited our needs quite well because it had easy highway access, easy access to dinner AND very convenient for us, ability to park outside our room! With 2 golden retrievers on a special diet, we end up traveling with more bags than I care to admit! Clean and perfectly situated for us. Some people have written that it’s outdated; I thought the charm and convenience was far more important. Plus there’s a huge green space in the back. My pups are able to roam off leash without worrying they’ll run off so it was great to give them space to get their zoomies out before hitting the road again!

    Great Pet Friendly Stay

The check-in staff were friendly and knowledegable. The room was clean and well appointed. Plenty of space outside to walk pets. And, great that each room is more like a small apartment unit connected side by side. Highly recommended for a quick and easy stay if traveling with pets. It is now one of our regular mid-way stopovers when we are traveling.

    Nice stay

Many years ago we found the Village Inn in Harrisonburg, VA. It was wonderful then because of the area to walk your pets and the cleanliness of the rooms + the restaurant on site. We used it this past August 2023 and they have even upgraded the facility. Will always stay here when passing through this area.

    Wonderful old fashioned motel

The motel is old, probably close to a hundred years by now, however, everything in our room, except for the slightly uneven floor was up to date, functional, and immaculately clean. There is plenty of places for a potty stop, however, a longer walk requires going across the busy road and about 100 yards to the left, where you will find an entrance to a church. Loop counter clockwise around the church and you find it is connected to the county fairgrounds. Unless the church or fairground is having an event, there are several miles of zero traffic road for a nice long hike. The staff is super nice. We opted for the breakfast buffet which included the usual fare, plus a few local specialties, and that's all I'm going to say, except that it was fairly tasty. Will definitely return.

A great deal for a reliable place

I’ve been staying here for years now. Can’t believe the prices. The rooms are spacious and my dog loves the grassy areas around the grounds. Nice with a dog and a lot of stuff on road trips to be able to park right in front of the room. I feel safer here than in other motels, I think because it’s family-run and has a cozy atmosphere.

    Nothing special

I know there are many positive reviews, however, this is my specific experience, property is well maintained and has a historic charm to it and the room was clean. To mirror another reviewer, I can state that my room had no hot water both in the shower and sink. After driving for 12 hrs, it was pretty disappointing to not have a hot shower, also the jet tub looked old and in addition, the property controls the temperature in each room. The ac barely came on and when it did, it said 80 which is unacceptable on a higher 90 degree day. So my specific experience was pretty disappointing.

    Quaint Country Inn

Very large rooms. Family owned since 1930's. Good value. Updated bathrooms. Very clean. The paint was spotless-well maintained. Lovely little deck off the room. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast. Only negative was that the room was carpeted. Our pups definitely were interested in various spots throughout the carpet. Fortunately, they don't mark, but this could be an issue for some dogs. There was no smell detected by us though. Would go there again!

    Great location

The room was very clean and nice. The grounds were great for walking the dogs. I travel alone and safety is important and this place offered that. I did not eat in the restaurant but it looked nice and breakfast smelled delicious! The only negative is the traffic noise but it really didn’t bother me because I slept good in their comfortable bed.

    A Gem!

What a great find! I've been traveling route 81 south for 10 years and have not found suitable accommodations for myself and my dog until now. The village inn is spit spot clean, quaint, friendly staff and amazing dog walking area. Our room was so comfortable and we heard no noise from other rooms like you do in a hotel. We had everything we needed. Many extra nice touches. And we had a balcony to boot! My husband had the breakfast buffet that he thought was wonderful. The breakfast menu was very reasonable and Mary was friendly and efficient. The room was a good value, under $100 with an additional $15 pet fee. We will be staying here from now on on our southward journeys.

    Perfect place to stay

Convenient, clean and comfortable. Since you’re parking right outside your room, it’s easy to load/unload your car. The Village Inn at Harrisonburg is conveniently located near I81, but isn’t near any dodgy businesses or other motels so you feel safer when outside at night walking your dog. There’s a great grassy area near the outdoor pool as well. Yes, trash containers aren’t easily located. So what? Mattresses in room 125 were excellent, but I can’t speak for other rooms. For me this stay will be on automatic every time I drive from Boston to Florida.

Grest place to take a dog!

The room was clean, nice property, you can hear others a bit through the wall but if you turn the tv on you can't. The furniture was comfy enough and seemed like the right materials for having a dog (80 lb pit bull). It was easy to take my dog out and do convenient to have your car just outside your door!

    Good accessibility

Rooms open directly to outside which makes it easier. Nice room. Very pleasant people. They were expecting “two adults and a dog.” No problems at all. We would use them again if in the area. This website was very helpful in finding and evaluating the hotel.

    Beautiful and clean!!

We were pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive these rooms were. We got a 2 bedroom suite and couldn’t have asked for more. The property and surrounding landscape is just gorgeous. The rooms were very spacious and extremely clean (and I’m picky about cleanliness). The beds were comfortable and the shower was great! The pet walking area is in the back and has an amazing view of the sunrise!! The Village Inn had everything we needed!! We were only sad that we stopped for the night and left early to continue on our road trip. My only “complaint” was I couldn’t find any trash cans or pet waste disposal areas. I would come back and highly recommend this motel! You cannot beat the value.

    Comfortable and spacious

Somewhat off the beaten path from other hotels in this area, this is a hidden gem. The grounds are lovely and the room is spacious and well-appointed. Felt Like I was home

One of the best dog friendly hotels we have every stayed at. All the rooms are smoke free. Family run - extremely friendly. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom had double sinks and mirrors, large towels, jetted bathtub and good bathroom supplies. Our room had a patio with a wonderful view of the Shenandoah Valley. Very large grassed area for the dog. The Inn only has one floor. The exterior design makes you think you are walking into your own condo. We will be booking another stay there while we travel from Maine to Georgia at Christmas.

Very pet friendly and a immaculate suite

The Village Inn is a very nice family run motel and a very convenient stay on our way to Florida with our three cats. There is a direct outside entrance into a neat and clean two room suite. It was also great to have the restaurant next door though breakfast is extra. We will definitely stay there again.

    Great place to stay

The room was clean. The pool was great fun for the family. The restaurant food was great. We could not eat in as they have no outdoor seating for dogs but they allowed us to fill several boxes with food from the buffet. This could then be eaten in the room or at one of the picnic tables. The rooms were very quiet. Could not hear any noise from other rooms or the street. I only wish there was lighting in the dog walking area as after dark you need a flash light.
