Reliable stop

Best Western Eau Claire South

My husky and I needed a one-night stop on the way to Minnesota. Eau Claire Best Western was a solid spot. Easy to find, quick check-in, lots of nearby food options. Easy parking, plenty of space. Wi-fi, tv, etc. All good. And the breakfast had some decent items. Would definitely return!

Fantastic option

GrandStay Delano

My husky and i were visiting Minneapolis/St. Paul, and a friend in Delano. It's the only hotel in the area, and it's a good one! We paid for the suite, and it was huge. Bedroom, living room with 2nd tv, and large bathroom. Cable tv, wi-fi, fridge, microwave, etc. Breakfast was good. The location is perfect, just off Rte 12. Thirty minutes from Minneapolis and 10 minutes or so to several towns, trails, and lakes in the area. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. (In fact, I added another night to my stay.) It's a fantastic choice for the area, or if you choose to stay outside of the city.

Giant suite, great deal

Baymont by Wyndham Wichita Falls

While traveling across country with my husky, we stopped for one night in Wichita Falls. Baymont looked good, and it was in a convenient location. As custom, I paid extra for the deluxe suite. It was well worth it!
We headed up to our room on the 3rd floor. TV and dresser on the left. Desk at the far end; king size bed. Couch and coffee table. Huge studio, with fridge and microwave. Then, as I set my bag down, I saw an open door. I peeked over and it was an entire bedroom!! Another king bed, lounge chair and tv. You could fit 4 people easy. Well worth the price. Side note: dinner at Asian Kitchen around the corner was good. Overall, this was a worthwhile stop. Friendly staff. Would definitely return.

Suite was very comfortable

La Quinta by Wyndham Gallup

La Quinta was reliable as usual. Checked in quickly. I usually pay extra for the suite. This one was nice. On the 2nd floor. Bed with a living room area, plus big table for computer and electronics. Very comfortable. Easy to get around to historic downtown and area with lots of dinner options. Solid 1 night stay for me and my husky.

Best bargain in the area

Best Western InnSuites Phoenix Hotel & Suites

Best Western Inn Suites is a tremendous bargain. I'm from the Phoenix area, so I know the location. Surprised that this place was significantly cheaper than other hotels. I paid extra for a suite. Room 163. Easy check-in. Lots of parking. Great location -- 51 can take you in any direction: downtown, Scottsdale, or north. The suite had a full entry living room with counter, fridge, microwave, couch, desk, tv. Then, through the doorway is a separate bedroom area with another tv and a bathroom. Lots of room to relax and take it easy. Overall, a comfortable 2-night stay for me and my husky. Decent breakfast but with the money savings, lots of restaurant choices within 10 minutes.

Friendly and good location for quick stop

La Quinta by Wyndham Odessa North

While driving across across country with my husky, we stopped here for one night. La Quinta was reliable as always. (We paid extra for a suite, and the room was quite comfortable.) The staff was very friendly and helpful. And, the location is terrific. The Chris Kyle Memorial is walking distance from the hotel, a pleasant morning walk. And, take-out from Rosa's Cafe was convenient. This La Quinta is a solid choice for a quick stop.

Pricey but worth it

Drury Inn & Suites Las Cruces

During a 2-week road trip with my husky, we passed through Las Cruces on a Wednesday night. (I paid extra for the suite.) The room/suite was huge. The entry area was a legit living room with couch, tv, desk, and open area. Then, there was a hallway with full kitchen (sink, fridge, microwave, counter) on the right, bathroom entry on the left. Then, the king size bed with a large screen tv at the end. This was a nice apartment! They offered a complimentary dinner. The Wednesday offerings were pretty good. I had chili with potato. Also, there were hot dogs, nachos, fettuccine, some salad, plus soda and popcorn. Breakfast looked good; eggs and variety of salsas, plus, a bit of fruit and other options. In the end, it was one of our more pricey overnight stays. But, then again, it was worth it. Would definitely return.

Solid choice

La Quinta by Wyndham Clinton Historic Route 66

La Quinta in Clinton, OK is a solid choice. It's a little off to the side of I-40, but easy to find with the signs. Traveling with a big husky, I paid the extra price for a deluxe suite. Very spacious and comfortable! Living room area, 2 tvs, king bed, etc. The front desk lady was very personable and helpful. Down the road, we had take-out from Canelo's Mexican restaurant. Very good. overall, this stay was easy, restful, and worthwhile. Would definitely return.

Great location

Sierra Suites Boutique Hotel

Stayed 2 days in Sierra Vista with my husky. Sierra Suites is a terrific choice. Great location on the northern part of town. I stayed in the larger suite (paid extra), and it was very nice. Lots of room, giant tv, fridge, etc. Breakfast was good (fresh fruit, waffles, and a variety of egg options). One morning they had vanilla pancakes; another had mango crisp... nice. Terrific location. There is a spacious dog park 1.3 miles down the road. The 143 Tacos a block away is a good option and has outdoor seating. It was nice to walk to these places. Staff at Sierra Suites is very helpful and nice. Wi-fi worked well, except the morning I left. Not sure why. Overall, very pleased with this choice. Would definitely return!

Lots of options

TownePlace Suites Marriott Joplin

Terrific stop on a road trip along Route 66 (and, I-44). The suite my husky and I stayed in was clean and spacious --- complete kitchen, living room space, and bed area. Quite comfortable. Tons of dining options. (In fact, it may be a bit overwhelming). We ended up at Fuzzy's Taco Shop, which was quite good. Overall, a smooth and worthy stop! Would definitely rebook if in the area again.

Outstanding and Nostalgic

Roadrunner Lodge

During a road trip across Route 66, we spent one night at the Roadrunner Lodge. It was outstanding! Very unique and nostalgic -- including 50's decor and furniture, old school lock and key, and a radio playing music oldies and commercials. It's a unique walk back into time. Also, it is extremely dog friendly! On the bed, there was a welcome note and treats for my dog, Norway, from their canine director of hospitality. Out front there is a play area for the pups, as well. The room was quite comfortable, and the wi-fi worked great. Also, a quick mention: we had dinner take-out down the street at Del's. They offer a large menu, including a dog menu. I ordered the burger and rice, and my husky loved it. Overall, if you're looking for a cool change of pace, nice, dog-friendly folks, give the Roadrunner Lodge a try.

Good option

Red Roof Inn Vermillion - U of South Dakota

Vermillion was a good spot between Sioux Falls and Sioux City. The Red Roof was a good pet friendly price, clean, and nice location. Easy to find, and near the downtown (with restaurants). Would definitely return.

Solid Iowa Option

AmericInn by Wyndham Hampton

Needed a spot in middle of Iowa for me and my husky. Picked out this hotel in Hampton. Solid choice. Easy to find off main street. Warm lobby and friendly staff. (There was a terrible mix-up by Expedia/BringFido with my reservation; fortunately, the receptionists took care of it.) Room was good -- air con, clean, spacious. There is an area where the smokers go; but, overall, lots of space to walk with the dog. Side note: Take-out from B&C Chinese restaurant was delicious. Hotel price was right. Would definitely return when passing through Iowa..

Fantastic Mitchell hotel

Kelly Inn & Suites Mitchell South Dakota

The Kelly Inn was a terrific pick. Very reasonable price, easy to find. Friendly reception. The hotel has a wooden, lodge look -- adorned with carved bears. The suite is sweet. Big bed, tv, microwave, sofa, coffee table... Nice location. Across the street is a pond/open park -- great spot to walk with my husky. Nearby is El Columpio, a solid dinner choice. And, of course, easy driving access to the Corn Palace.. (Would definitely return!)

Good start to our road trip

Best Western Plus Steeplegate Inn

Solid hotel choice. Clean, spacious room. Lots of area to walk around. Friendly staff. The restaurant next door (Prairie Grille) was a convenient, good choice for dinner. And, the hotel breakfast was very good -- including fresh fruit (in containers) and OJ in container. So, easy. Would definitely return if we pass through Davenport. Thanks!

Fine Des Moines hotel option

Best Western Plus Des Moines West Inn & Suites

Picked this place while driving through Des Moines, Iowa. Reception was easy and friendly. Great room with sofa area, and usual amenities. Good air conditioning and floors (instead of carpets, a good thing). Mostly, it's a terrific location. I needed a quick stop at Petsmart (around the corner), and there are many meal choices. (We went to Tasty Tacos...). Would definitely return.

A one-night stay

Super 8 by Wyndham Fremont NE

Unable to find any other hotels, my husky and I stayed at the Super 8. It's next to the Fairfield Inn, quite a contrast. The Super 8 had chipped paint, a bit run down, parts smelled of smoke. However, here are the upsides: receptionist was nice; location is terrific (straight shot to places to eat and a park); and, the other guests were nice. (Mostly, crop and road workers who were staying there. They were friendly and drove nice trucks. So, good clientele!). The carpet was stained, but doesn't bother me. No chance my dog could do harm. HBO/Cinemax cable tv. And, the smoke odor went away in the room. In the end, it was a one-night stay (for 1/2 the price of its next door neighbor). It worked...

Perfect spot for my Husky and me

Tangled Roots/Lone Buffalo

After a visit to Starved Rock, my dog and I had dinner at The Lone Buffalo. A perfect pick for these reasons: 1) location is great, down the street from the Lincoln/Douglass fountain and across from movie house. Plenty of parking 2) Spacious outdoor seating along the sidewalk 3) food (for me) was tasty -- veggie burger and fries.. 4) food (for my dog) was a winner -- I ordered pork sliders and mixed the meat with his dog food. He loved it.. 5) Mostly, this place is super dog friendly -- they brought a bowl of water and homemade dog biscuits. Plus, the staff, hostess, and manager all genuinely like dogs! Definitely worth a visit!

Perfect place for an overnight visit

Hampton Inn Ottawa (Starved Rock Area)

I reserved a suite for me and my 4 year old husky. Every part of the stay was terrific. 1) Easy to find off the I80 2) the check-in went smoothly (and the lady at the front desk was very friendly). 3) room was comfortable w/good A/C, variety of cable channels, solid wi-fi, and roomy. 4) complimentary breakfast was terrific, plus chocolate chip cookies in the evening. 5) Location is convenient (we spent some time at Starved Rock, as well as downtown Ottawa -- dinner at The Lone Buffalo). And, finally, it's super dog friendly! (Next time we do another visit to Starved Rock, we'll stay overnight at the Hampton again!)
