Fort King George State Historic Site Leashed dogs are allowed on the grounds of Fort King George State Historic Site, a pet-friendly site in Darien, GA. This is the oldest remaining English fort in Georgia. While Fido isn't allowed inside the historic buildings, you can both enjoy the lovely trails around the area. See Details
Big Trees Forest Preserve Leashed dogs are welcome at Big Trees Forest Preserve, a pet-friendly old-growth forest in Sandy Springs, GA. You and Fido can explore the network of trails, babbling brooks and the native trees and flowers that are protected in this preserve. Waste bags and receptacles are found throughout the preserve, making it easy to clean up after your pup. Please do not let Fido dig holes anywhere on the preserve, and remember to stay on the trails. Smithgall Woods State Park Leashed dogs are welcome to join their humans in certain areas of Smithgall Woods State Park in Helen, GA. There are 28 miles of pet-friendly trails that your pup can enjoy if they are on a leash under six feet. If you get tired on one of the trails, you can stop for a rest at one of the many picnic shelters. The park is also a very popular fishing destination. See Details
Hardman Farm State Historic Site Leashed dogs are allowed on the nature trails and outdoor areas at Hardman Farm State Historic Site, a pet-friendly attraction in Sautee Nacoochee, GA. The iconic Unicoi Turnpike, which was created by early Native Americans, will take you through historic farm landscape where both early Native Americans lived and later on the Nichols and Hardman families’ built their mansion. While Fido is not permitted inside any of the buildings, you can enjoy wandering the grounds and admire the Native American mound that still occupies the grounds. Pickett's Mill Battlefield State Historic Site Leashed dogs are welcome at Pickett's Mill Battlefield State Historic Site in Dallas, GA, where you can explore one of the best preserved Civil War battlefields in the nation. This 765-acre park is home to picnic areas and miles of pet-friendly, wooded hiking trails that weave around the historic area, along creeks and even by a waterfall. Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted in the pioneer cabins or any of the other buildings in the park, but leashed pets are permitted in the visitor center to gain access to the trails. See Details
Georgia Winery Georgia Winery in Ringgold, GA, is the first farm winery in the state. Small dogs that can be carried are allowed in the winery. They also have a pet-friendly covered patio that welcomes dogs of all sizes. Flights of four different wines are available in addition to slushies. Foxfire Museum & Heritage Center Foxfire Museum & Heritage Center is a fun, dog-friendly, outdoor museum in Mountain City, GA that focuses on exploring Appalachian history. A mulched, half-mile walking trail takes you and your dog through over 20 historic log buildings that contain artifacts and interpretive signage. Some cabins are used as working artist studios, including a weaving studio and working blacksmith forge. The museum has a 1- mile connector trail that takes you up to Black Rock Mountain State Park.
